my wife to be and i needed a washer and dryer we couldnt afford one at the store we decided to go to rent a center the washer and dryer was brought to are apartment every week we get seval phone calls demanding payment we pay the amount every week i have been working on the weekends and i would pay them on monday well monday had came i went to pay for the week i was told off for not paying on saturday i have explain that i have been working i had also informed them if i was not there on saturday i would pay on monday

well they didnt like that they made what i felt was a threat if i didnt pay on saturdays i would get a knock thats what he said i believe they would come and take the washer and dryer away after that i had felt so inbarest and small and upset i went home to speek with my wife to be she had called rent a center again and tried to speak to them about swiching the payment to monday well what i understand they were rude and i would have to pay $36.00 on mondays.

my mom droped them she wont go do any more service with them she says they are rude she feels they want to much for there products there she says for what she had payed there she could of bought double in a store for the same item for a playstation 2 i believe close to $900.00 that money i can bye 3 or 4 of them .

My husband went to RAC in Torrington, CT. He never spoke with me about it.. We have 4 accounts with them from December of 03.. We have paid them over 10,000.00 dollars.. Like a bunch of idiots.. BUt we have given them so much money that we can't bare to lose our things now.. ANd it seems like payoffs are still so much more than it would be to buy new..

Our payments are due on Saturdays.. Every Saturday morning our phone starts ringing... We still have the rest of our day to make the payment yet they start bright and early..They are rude.. they have absolutly no customer service skills what so ever.. hello..Its me Tara..

I can hear her voice echoing in my head now... yuk!! My husbands grandfather had passed away and we were out of town unexpectedly for a couple weeks.. we rent out a room in our garage and our tenant was home.. I guess Miguel and fat boy had come and were BANGING on our door repeatedly.. Saying things like.."you can't hide from us!".. another incidentI walked in there with 1100.00 dollars to pay off 2 accounts and to pay a few weeks in advance for the other two.. I called before hand and asked to speak with someone who knew what they were doing and could tell me exact prices on pay offs.. so like I said Iwent with exactly enough money to do what I needed to do..

When I got there there and explained what I was there to do .. They told me I owed more money than what was told to me on the phone.. I was furious!!! they are a bunch of scam artists I hate that we ever got involved with them.. I HATE Torrington rent a Center..

I even wrote a Email to there main customer Service department explaining the way that they deal with there customers.. They ended up sending me a free 30 minute phone card.. whoop dee doo!!! Now I see that RAC has there own race car for Nascar.. My husband and I joke and shake our heads saying " We bought that d**n car".. Jerks!!

you know i came up with a new stoging for rent a center rip off another client thats how i feel to be treated like dirt getting calls aboult payment it sounds to me they rent this stuff out and to us as customers then when it comes to it all they care is money thats all .well it takes people like us to stand up for each other to get something done how long will this continue untill we all make a stand.for a playstation 2 129.00 now used at a game store i told them down at rent a center they should be ashame of them selfs to charge so much thank you all once again

Mike,

If you dont work on sundays and they are closed....See if you can night drop a check....slip it thru the door at night...but make sure that you have a carbon copy of the check or money order and plainly disclose on that payment as to what it is for....because then they cannot say that you did not pay and you can avoid those goons alltogether.

And trust me...being that I did this kind of work I too saw alot of things I can only call unethical of the company and its employees.
Not all are bad, But the companys practices are in question when you mark something up like a $200.00 sofa up to $1100.00...

I rented through them a few years ago and d**n their book keeping is the worst I have ever seen. We made all our payments on time but then all of a sudden we get a call that we were behind three payments.

My wife went up there and the guy was very rude to her. I finally went up there my self with all the cancelled checks and proved my point that they had screwed up not us.

Seems one of their store managers was taking money from them and not crediting the accounts. There were several accounts that they had messed up and several people were pissed.

Needless to say I will never again go to them or any other rent centers. You can put stuff in lay away and not have to pay so d**n much as what they charge you. A 200 dollar sofa that we payed 650.00 dollars for. But we needed it at the time. But as I said NEVER AGAIN. I feel for you and your wife. Next time try lay away. You don't get the length of time but you also don't get stiffed with those rental charges.

I would like to say if i own a buisness i would not sit there and raise my voice so people can here me and look my customer and question him or her about payment another thing is if my customer pays every week and not miss a payment what is the problem.to have a good buisness is to treat your customers fare not call 2 0r three times a day it always starts a day befor or the day when payment is due and when you have a family to surrport there is going to be a day a person can not make it there on time and believe i have tried calling no answere it could of been to late or the are out to lunch etc so my wife called to arange payments on mondays rent a center is closed on sundays i always make sure its payed every week i have known people who has missed weeks on end without making payments those are the ones they shoud get mad about not me or my wife the person spoke my better half was very rude and trust me she was not to happy about it .

continue address was wrong it is 775 main street not south main street i feel very disgusted about rent a center my family have been customers for many years now and the way they treat people its not right i cant believe after telling them i was not able to pay untill monday they dont seem to care my wife to be tried to speek with them for us to swich the payment to monday i have to pay more $36.00 my family refuse to get another thing from them i dont blame them a year ago a friend of mine got a playstation 2 insted of paying for the full rental price they sold it to him at store price i had ask them this year if i can bye one used and i could pay them each week untill it was payed off the answere was they wanted $250.00 for something used and missing the box it came in i was pretty upset with this i told them i could bye one at game stop used for $150.00 if not a little bit more or less i believe that its a rip off what ever happend to treating customers with kindness and respect iam saying ever one who works for rent a center is bad but come on know one should have to deal with this

Sorry they did you that way.

As a former employee I can tell you from experience that what happened to you is just they way they do buisness

Here is the scoop!

Most stores have two or more account managers.
These guys split the existing customer base between themselves, like I had for example 310 customers..well I am responsible as a account manager to make d**n sure that every one of them is paid up to date..Or if I fall behind then my job is in jeopardy..Like acts that are 15+ 30+ days deliquent.

As far as I can tell Rent A Goon is hurting money wise so of course the regional managers are going to haunt the acct managers that have some accounts that are behind.

That said.
I have every reason to believe that you are the one that is right.

Due to the fact that if your transaction was handled properly and you were informed of the due dates, waiver fees, etc etc you would have never had this problem in the first place...

As for that monday thing? what the hell is that!
when you have your customer agreement (which no one seems to read)it spells out the guidlines of your signed agreement with rent a center..If it dont say they can do that then they probably cannot do that!
