I bought a pair of wireless headphones with a 2 year warranty, came up to 80$. I asked the person who rung me up (happened to be the manager) if I needed to keep the receipt, as i have a habit of loosing them. She said no, all my information is in the system, all they have to do is look it up. I tried to take them back 3 days later with a problem and the same lady said my receipt was needed and there is no way to look up information in the system. They jipped my out of a 25$ warranty.

Returns/service plans

AUTHOR: Animalianiimura - ()

POSTED: Friday, August 23, 2013

Within the first 30 days of a purchase, you DO need the receipt for a return. The $25 service plan you purchased does not take effect until the 30 return window has ended. If you don't have the receipt, the sales associate absolutely CAN research your receipt, there are many ways to look it up.

If for whatever reason they are unable to find your receipt, if you wait the 30 days, you can then take advantage of the service plan you purchased. You need to bring the product into the store, they can look up your service plan with the phone number you gave them during the initial sale, and they then mail it out, and you will be given your money back on a gift card either sent to your email or home address, to be determined at the time of using your service plan.

I'm so sorry to hear you had a problem with your service plan. Please don't let this experience ruin your view of Radioshack, as not all employees and stores are out to misinform. The service plans are there for a good reason, and can be very helpful when a product fails.

Some things in other rebuttal need to be reanswered

Despite the timing of this post being a few months outside of the box, I thought I'd throw a few cents into the jar. It does not take 90 days for the receipt to enter the ANSO system. It takes usually less than 24 hours. When a service plan is purchased, however, the service plan takes 31 days to enter the system. The reasoning behind this is that within that first 30 days, you are able to get a full refund for both the product and the service plan. After 30 days, the plan is locked in. Don't listen to Mr. "I've worked for RS for 5 years." And don't let one store discourage you from shopping with us. For a customer, almost anything can be taken care of.

The person you spoke with probably wasn't sure of how to look up a receipt, or possibly just being lazy. Anyway, that's my two cents.

Sales Associate

I have worked at RS for over 5 years. I have seen a lot of horrible bad things. There are some good people left out there, you just have to find them. The company itself has changed so much. When I was hired there were all sorts of certs and process you had to go through. Now anyone off the street who is willing to work for peanuts will do. Which reflects in management, which is why I will never try and go up with this company. I love my job, and for me anyway, I am not in it for the money I really like helping people! I am biding my time till all of my kids are in school, and I will get a real job. I have been through 6 District Managers, and 10 managers in 5 years.

Now an answer. I takes up to 90 days or better to register your receipt in the computer. Until then you can look it up on the POS system, which believe it or not a lot of people don't know how to do! Within 90 days you can reprint the receipt from here which will reflect your warranty. Second, the warranty DOES NOT cover ANY user damage. Personally I don't offer them to my customers, because they are more of a pain then they are worth. I would go to another one, and see if you can find someone who knows something. We have 3 RS here and out of all of them, there is only me and another employee who know a lot about the company
