I was an "independent contractor" at the spa, and cheated out of hundreds of dollars. Typically a contractor is not told what to charge, or take the business' discounts off their services. My 1099 included my tips, and I was told if I wasn't making $500 each payroll (contractors dont have payroll) I would be guaranteed. This never happened. There was never more that $40 in the cash drawer to make change, she was calling clients to see what they were charged accusing us of stealing money, when she was stealing from us. If one of the licensed cosmetologists or massage therapists were not available for services, she would force a threader to do the service. Running the risk of contamination or infection. She is now under scrutiny by the State board of Cosmetology and fined $250 for the infractions. She will be going in front of the board in August for review and possible closure.

This will be brief and blunt:

1. 1099 contractors are REQUIRED to collect their own monies. Therefore, the campaign I ran thru KGB - not Groupon was completely legal. This also would have been a civil matter, and no law enforcement would have gotten involved. As of this moment the IRS contacted me and had me fill out the SS-8 form to determine whether or NOT we were legally 1099 contractors, or middle of the road as you were treating us. Unfortunately there is no option. You don't make your own rules.

2. You did not pass inspection in August, you were ordered to take a business class, your books were whited out as to the illegal services being performed and attempting to hide; and the cosmetology board wants Carol and I to refile our complaint together with all of the other legal docs from AZ dept of Rev. the IRS and Unemployment insurance.

I don't know who you think you are, stepping into this mess when you weren't there, or have any knowledge of what events took place. I can guarantee, it will be a matter of time before you are enlightened. My contract has expired, I did not re-sign when I came back to work there.

I have a great job now, with an actual 1099 contract. And I have a lot of Rambhas clients as I am now at INTEL Corp. You see, they do not think as highly of her as you may think You cannot be a liar and maintain integrity.

It is fine for Rambha to discount services, but not at the contractors expense. Essentially she is not having to pay the stylist for the discounted service, and taking the discount on her taxes, which is VERY illegal. I have owned my own salon, and have been in the business 22 years. Payroll is not that expensive, if you take the incentive to take a business class and learn how to do it on your own, versus hiring an accountant that has no clue as to the laws for contractors.

Your rebuttal has grammar mistakes, and essentially you sound very uneducated pretending to be so. Your threats are unfounded, and my time is not concentrated on your demise. You don't need any help in that department. I didn't even mention the fake appointments Rambha would make at the end of the day so we would be forced to stay and answer the phones for her for free. See, us "contractors" didn't get paid for sitting around, we sat there unpaid.

Thank you Susan for showing your frustration on this site after all your attempt to get us in trouble with cosmetology board and massage board failed. Those who live in glass houses,do not throw stone on other houses. If you have a bit of morality, please also describe what Salon owners did for you.Remember your own cheating us by running a groupon type compain thru our business and netting the money in your pocket.Salon owners were fool not to report you to police.Had they done, you would not have  been able to write this report.

We can not go to the extent you went as we have other priorities of running our salon successfully. And the charges you are putting here does not have any substance and all your negative posts here, on facebook and other internet places does not impact our business.Remember we are in beauty business and people connect with individuals and not the salon establishements.

Also remember your contract prohibits you from posting any comments about our business and you are required to settle any disputes thru proper legal channels.Charges you have levelled can be proved/dismissed thru proper govt agencies or legal authorities and you should take that step first before venting out your frustration here.By the way our Salon is still running and doing great and August has passed and no one was able to close Salon as you posted. But i really admire you for dreaming impossible events. Its not a joke to close down a business based on baseless accusations.

Regardless of what you did Susan, we wish you all the best and hope you do well as an Hair Stylist. You do a good job, all you need to do is to be ethical, work hard and clients will follow you.The time you spend on posting bad reviews for us can be utilized posting your strengths and requesting new clients wherever you are working now.

By the way here is what you wrote about us in defence of a similar rip off report by an ex contractor.

There is your Henna MSDS sheet, and your accusations are unfounded. The Singhs have a very good reputation within the community, and go above and beyond for their employees. I have stepped in as manager, and ll is well. If you have ever owned a business, payroll is very expensive, as well as unemployment insurance and workman's comp. So under professional advice, they were told about the  options available. Independent Contractors should take the incentive to build their own clientelle, and grow with the business. Rambha is always encouraging her clients to try other services to endorse the contractors. If the stylist proves to be incompetent, the client will not return to them. I have not encountered this problem, and have already earned the trust of several of Rambha's own clients. They were in need of organization, and competent stylist to acomodate their growth. Not self centered children who have to be babysat. They have a team of professionals that are wisely utilized and they are careful to know the laws involved. Rambha has discounted her services to accomodate clients needs, and coax them into trying other services. This is a wise practice in this economy. The spa was being slandered by this x-employee, and receptionist, after they signed a contract agreeing not to. The owner has every right to ask the comments be removed, or face reprocussions. The salon is immaculate, and business is growing daily. Many clients complained abut the unprofessionalism of the receptionist and stylist gossiping at the reception desk, instead of utilizing time passing out literature and samples to help bring in clients. They just wanted to sit around and get paid  for it.
