Rapid Transport Triple Brokered / Held load hostage, demanded ransom Dorval Quebec

On 06/24/14 John Barada at Rapid Transport called and booked a partial load with myself (Ken) at  QLS from Edmonton AB to Dallas TX. Load was thought to be 11.5 ft. of space and 3200lbs. John failed to load on 06/24/14 but did manage to get load picked up on 06/25/14.

I never spoke to John again until 07/03/14 when John called me and stated that the load was more than the agreed 11.5 ft. and that it was actually 16ft of space and 3500lbs. I told John no problem that I would compensate accordingly and get him a new confirmation, and we hung up. A few minutes later I get an email from John at Rapid that states quote " Your shipment is on hold at my terminal in Toronto , full payment of 2950.00 required by wire or com chq before we ship this out to cross border."

I have all correspondence via email. I then replied and stated that I was willing to compensate but could not agree to an additional 1650.00 for an additional 4ft of trailer and instructed John to return the freight to the shipper if we could work something out. John then decided to he contact my customers and threaten all kinds of non-sense to be paid.

John actually had attached pictures of the load on his original email to me and after I carefully examined I noticed the pics had been sent to him from another company with a name and phone number, Nexzen Transport. I called Nexzen and discovered that they actually picked up my load after John brokered it to them on the terms of 5ft of space and $500.00. Nexzen sent the pics to John to let him know it was more freight than he told them and that they would need to be paid more money $ 1200.00.

John instructed them to take the freight to another companies terminal FGM truck Lines , john then brokered my load to FGM truck lines to haul from their facility to Dallas for $ 1100.00. meanwhile I never told john that I was on to his scam and he continued to blast my company and make ridiculous threats to both my shipper and customer in Dallas causing a ton stress that was not needed.

I paid Nexzen for their portion of the move and FGM held my freight and I had another carrier contracted to haul the load to Dallas cutting John and Rapid Transport out of the picture. Luckily for me I was able to discover who actually loaded the freight or I would have been forced to meet his demands and extorted for an additional 1650.00 and paid before the load delivered.
