I went to ray chevrolet to trade in my 2004 pontiac grand am for a new car. (Nothing but problems.......) I did not have perfect credit but it was ok,

first off Brad (sales person) told me that all I would only be able to get was a 2010 chevy cobalt.(piece of crap-sqwat box) for $400 a month. so with some consideration I went out and test drove it. it was horrible.

So I told him I don't think so, because it is very small and I can't fit my grand kids in the back seat. So then just to make him happy because he was very pushy I told him that I would have to talk to my older sons, who know about cars.

But then they told me to take the cobalt and drive it to show him.... again very pushy didnt want me to leave.......ugh

So I took the car to my house showed my son and they did not like it,  my son said mom this is a piece because it was suposed to be brand new and yet the sunroof switch was falling off, hanging from the roof.

I took the car back and on my way back Brad called me and said that I just want to let you know that if you dont like the cobalt that we have a 2010 chevy impala that you could get for  $30 more on my payment.(even though they before told me I could only get the cobalt) now it changed for some reason...............

I told him over the phone that I would look at it when I got there. So I get there and look at the car and it was dark by then, I had been there all day....ugh..

Brad tells me the only thing bad or wrong with the car is that it was a demo(Loaner) car and that it has 2,000 some odd miles on it. but it was new.. at first glance and a test drive I liked the car....  I told brad go get me the price for my payment and then I will tell you if I want it.

Brad then comes back and instead of just $30 more he now says $40 more so it would now be $440. I told him that is too high, I can't afford that, I told him if he could get it to $430 I would take the car. I thought I was happy........ boy was I wrong.

So Brad after talking to the manager gets the $429 price which was close enough for me.  I signed all the papers, including a paper that said if the loan dosen't go though at the bank(because it was night and they were closed) that I have to bring the car back tomorrow.

Well instead I was back the next day becuase the car in the light(day time) had damage to the front drivers door , fender, and also had what looked like rust all over the chrome that outlined all windows. And a big stain on the front passenger side seat.... new car my a*s.....

Brad was not there I dealt with the manager Oliver. Was very nice about fixing it, but I was very upset that this was not a new car.. new cars dont have damage.....right? And also it was going to take 3 days to be done.

So whatever, I told them to fix it what else was i supposed to do? So I pointed out to the Manager in repairs (Steve) everything that was wrong and needed to be fixed. He said ok no problem we will take care of it.

Anyway 3 days go by and I go back to pick up my car, because they called and said it was done, which in all reality it was not. I drove all the way back there(30mins) just to find out that they didn't fix all the rusty chrome , they didn't clean the stain on the passenger side, and also they made a new grease(black) hand print on the back of the drivers seat.....

Oliver the manager was there so I went to talk to him about it, he came out to the car that was supposed to be done and seen everything wrong again......... he said that they would fix it for me but it would take more time because of the holiday weekend....(again mind you this was supposed to be a new car) that I still only drove half a day........ and it will be in the shop again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I told Oliver just keep the car and I will come back when it is done another week. he gave me a loaner car(spaceship looking car) in the begining, when they first took my car to fix it and now I again will be driving the loaner per Oliver because they didn't fix it right the first time...... go figure.

By now I'm just frustrated and pissed that they keep lying to me about it being fixed and also about it being a NEW CAR. With everything I have been through with this car already you would think that it was not a $20,000 car. It seems like a lemon or used car like what I traded in....

After I got home from talking to Oliver and leaving the car AGAIN,I was thinking I should not have to go though this hassel for a new car. I shoud just be able to sign the papers and drive off and not come back( the next day and then again after that).

I went back to Ray Chevrolet to talk to Oliver (manager) and Brad (sales person). Just to be told that we tried to satisify you with fixing the problems and giving you a loaner car to drive. And they also tell me now that cars with 2,000 miles means damaged....bullshit!!!! They never said that before, so I told them I want a different car, or my trade in car back. Because this car that you sold me was not a NEW CAR, I  dont feel I should have to pay $440 a month for a used car. They told me that they could not give me a different car that my car was new, and they could not give me my traded in car either.

So now  I'm  with this loaner car for another week, when I was supposed to have just bought a new car. This dealership is a scam!!! They lie to you just to get you to shut up and go way, or to push you into a car that is not what you want. All I wanted from the begining was a NEW 2010 Chevy Impala and what I got  was a used damaged 2010 Chevy Impala. and according to them I'm stuck with it.

POSTED: Saturday, July 10, 2010

Matt the general sales manager from ray chevrolet called and said that he wanted me to come in and talk to him, so i did and i went in and they sold me brand new 2010 Chevy Malibu with no damage and 4miles.

They also were able to give me a lower payment.  I am very happy now i love this car. This is what i wanted from the begining.

I have never had a person in the any car dealership be as kind and caring as Matt at ray chevrolet. He wanted nothing more than to make me happy.

He went out of his way for me. I will always send people back to him. In my opinion he makes that dealership.

He is a great guy. So now i will always recomend Ray chevrolet in fox lake.

#5 Consumer Suggestion

doing research ahead of time saves being stuck

AUTHOR: Cat - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 06, 2010

Before you even signed ANYthing, you should've done a lot of research on the car you wanted. Not having decent credit, your best bet would've buying whatever kind of a car you can afford not at a dealership but locally. You couldve gotten a decent car that would've been able to have gotten around town in without being "stuck" in a car you #2 couldnt afford and #2 was at least something talked into late at nite. A rule of thumb is to take at least a week of car shopping test driving cars before you actually buy. Never go in during late nite hours as that is when they do put pressure and they often will offer to send it home to drive and they are full aware by the time you get back its late and dark.

Thirdly, you should ALWAYS want a copy for a invoice to the car you are buying that has the vin # to that specfic car. It will show what options it comes with, the price is itemized for each item and if it doesn't have one, you KNOW it is used! My guess is there wasnt one. Years ago we bought a new Ford that had a chip in paint and therefore couldnt be sold "new" but it still had the invoice because that still a brand new car other than it had been re painted. We got a good deal on it, the price was cut in half. So we paid cash for it and thus, when you pay cash it is much easier to demand an excellent price. Three months ago my husband and I bought our new Ford Edge SUV, and since we have drivien what we could ONLY buy and pay for, we drove used cars for the first twenty yrs of marriage. We were not going into car debt as cars lose 40% of it's value like a rock when you drive it off the lot. So, during the recession recently we basically were able to walk out of the dealership with a sweet deal because we paid cash. One dealership didn't know how to do a cash deal(very sad for them as they lost 30k cash deal) but the town over more than welcomed our business.

I vote that you go in and slam the keys down demading to see the invoice for the NEW car that you bought and take in a small voice recorder. See how quickly you get answers. Right now they believe they have you, and Im saying you need to take back the power. Good luck, and next time ask for the specfic invoice to any new car, as that is what you shouldve done before you even got close to buying a new car. Hopefully you arent stuck with this car as I believe theres more wrong with this car than meets the eyes. Loaner cars often are the worst cars to buy because people drive them like cr*p.

Good luck!

You also should be aware...

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

That technically, and legally the car can be considered "new" if it was never titled to anyone else...even if it had 10,000 miles on it. Generally they will give a better deal if it has that much mileage but they can legally call it new.

Again I do believe you were swindled, but was there really a gun to your head to buy this car when it was too dark to see the condition? I know if I was buying a car that had 2000 miles on it, I don;t care if the dealer can technically or legally call it new..that car is USED..for 2000 some odd miles by someone. Now there is no way to know if any surface rust was caused by use, it could be a factory defect as well, but since this dealer is telling you it is a new car, then it has a new car warranty which will certainly cover rust.

You may or may not be able to seek any recourse due to the lemon law, unless the dealer can not or will not repair a problem after a certain amount of visits within a certain amount of time (check your state laws), but if there is any chance of returning this car, you are going to have your work cut out for you. Sometimes they will do it just to avoid the hassle, but as I stated earlier, they will take advantage of any signs of vulnerability you show, they are TRAINED experts at this.

It is hard to make out in this report but did you or did you not sign anything yet? If not you are home free..just do as I stated and demand your trade in back. If you did sign this can go either way so be prepared, you might be stuck with it.

I am not disagreeing with you...

But if you want justice, you are going to have to be firm.

Again you stated and I quote...

"When i got the car it was dark outside so i couldnt see anything, and at that time brad said the only thing wrong was the 2,000 some odd miles and also said new."

It doesn't matter what he said apparently. What if someone told told you a hamburger was chicken? If he told you the car has 2000 some odd miles on it, then how can it be new? Now it was not in his best interests to define the word "new" to you, but did you really not know what "new" means?

Either way, you may have a problem if you signed something, but I do believe this dealer is a crook and did you wrong. You need to play hardball..do not ask or request anything. Walk up to brads desk, toss the keys down, and tell him no deal give me my trade in back NOW.

It won't do much good to tell anyone brad told you it was new, because if he also told you it had 2000 some odd miles on it, then the entire story makes no sense. Just give a go at calling his bluff. If they don't do anything you may be stuck and they will just mock you and say you have buyers remorse. If they are willing to fix the rust or whatever and nothing more, then accept that and be happy. You are not the first person to be pressured into buying a car, that is what these salesman do for a living, to every single customer that walks in.

Brad was wrong. (liar)

AUTHOR: Wanda - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, July 05, 2010

When i got the car it was dark outside so i couldnt see anything, and at that time brad said the only thing wrong was the 2,000 some odd miles and also said new.

but when i got home and went to work in the daylight there was alot of other things wrong. Damaged on the drivers side door and fender.

and also all the chrome around the windows was what looked like rusty. Even the service guy(steve) said that it was a defect in the car.

So dont tell me nothing eles was wrong with it, it is all on file. of course brad is for the company and not customer, he is worried about money and his comission.

they might be in the process or fixing the problems now that i am upset but that is not the point. the point is this was not a new car.

i feel like i was taking advantage of. i just want  new car. and i told them that.

don't let them push you around..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, July 05, 2010

Granted..you are partially to blame and this is why..and I quote this from what you stated in the report..

"

Brad tells me the only thing bad or wrong with the car is that it was a demo(Loaner) car and that it has 2,000 some odd miles on it. but it was new"

So regardless of what these crooks told you..you are the one who somehow interpreted that something "wrong" and "loaner" with 2000 miles on it can possibly mean "new". So what definition of the word "new" possibly applies to a 2000 mile demo loaner???????????

If you don't want this car, go back into the dealership and throw the frigging keys on the desk, and tell them "no deal, give me back my trade in or have the police escort me out of here".

It's a start....see where that goes. The key with these slime buckets is not to show the slightest sign of vulnerability..it seems by this report they used the tactic of wearing you out and had you sign to something. But the last thing they need is to cancel this deal and let you leave with your trade in back..so you may have a little leverage.
