Raymour & Flanigan® Furniture and Mattress Store Raymour and Flanigan, Raymore & Flanigan, Raymore & Flanagan (sp.) Leather Sofa Inferior Material & Bad Workmanship - Leather Deteriorated - 5 Year Warranty West Springfield Massachusetts

Raymour & Flanigan Furniture is the largest furniture retailer in the Northeast and the seventh largest in the U.S. Their TV commercials paint a picture of top notch quality, however my experience with their services, promises, and quality of service and furniture is entirely disappointing and I will NOT spend my hard earned money in their store again. Let me explain:

I bought various pieces of bedroom, dining room and living room furniture, including a leather couch, sofa, ottoman and matching arm chair at Raymour and Flanigan, the grand total was MANY thousands of dollars. After a very short time we noticed the dining room chair legs wiggling and coming lose (repeatedly) however, the greatest disappointment was the leather sofa! After just a short time of occasional use the seat cushion began to sag and as a result created a dent in the middle with a lose fold or wrinkle in the leather. We had purchased the extended warranty, but it was still within the 1st year of manufacturer's warranty, so their furniture repair Technician came out, opened the seam on the back side and added more padding to that section. So far so good I thought. The technician had to come out again a few months later to add more padding to the other two sections.

After about 2 more years I noticed a small patch of fine hairline cracks happening along the top surface of the back rest. Fast forward another year these cracks had widened and I saw first signs of the same thing  along the back and middle as well the seat cushions. I went and purchased a sofa slip cover.

5 years later, and the entire couch is deteriorating, dry rotten, cracking and coming apart on all three seat cushions, and back and arm rests. I took my paperwork and receipts to the store but was told there was NOTHING they could do, or offer me, since the warranty had JUST expired.

The "classy" Raymore & Flanigan sofa looks like crap, the cracks are now completely open and resemble large rips. It looks like old "pleather" seats, cracked all over, ripped open, like you might expect to see in a very old junk yard car. It's completely tattered and coming apart. Showing the store manager photos and a small patch of the deteriorated leather it was a like a joke. While he seemed to show some interest he said he'd have to send an email to a different person higher up. We were told to wait for an email response, which we got 6 days later, simply (and in essence) reminding us us that all warranty is expired.

I will add photos here.... see for yourself! This week we went to a smaller, local furniture store to show the photos and the leather patch for their opinion. Their furniture specialist told us that the leather used is very, very thin, with a vinyl gloss bonded over the top to make it appear nice, but rather, it is a cheap process over a type of leather material they themselves would NOT sell to their customers because it will deteriorate after about 5 years, guaranteed.
