Readers Source Phone Scam Magazines obtain my credit card Report you Credit Bureau Buffalo New York

This company called me six (6) times stating first, they were a credit bureau and "someone" was trying to stop my magazine subscriptions early and they needed my credit card number in order for me to continue receiving my magazines without interruption.

They fast talk you to get you confused. Tell you that if they don't get your credit card number, they will report you to the credit bureau (...this, after already telling me that they were a credit bureau). I asked for more information on their company and they hung up on me.

In subsequent phone calls, when asked which particular magazine(s) they were talking about, after a short pause said "Essence, Jet, Vibe and O the Oprah magazine." I don't subscribe to any of these magazines and told them so. They hung up the phone.

The Caller ID usually shows "Unknown Caller, Unknown Number." Other calls have shown numbers that, upon checking I found them to be fake. They must use a scrambler on their telephones to generate ficticious numbers.

We are on both the local and national No-Call Lists so these people should not be calling me for any reason. The callers have all been different people, but must read from a script because all the conversations are the same. They represent themselves as either a magazine clearing house soing you a favor or a collection agency who has received a delinquent bill and demand your credit card number. They refuse to give you any information about who they really are or their purpose. They simply want access to your credit card number.
