I applied for a job on craigslist, and within minutes, got a response. Weird, because no one recruits employees at 9:30 pm. When I responded to get more information about the job and how risky it sounded, she, AKA, Christy Longo, never replied back. I did some searching. I noticed on the site recruiteamerica.info they listed partners. I googled the partners for only recruit america and got the real site with this warning!
Web Warning:
There is some scam involving the website http://recruitamerica.info/
They appear to be some kind of credit scam.
They have nothing to do with www.recruitamerica.net
Hopefully they will shut down.

I emailed all the companies they say are their clients to let them know, even though, I'm sure not much can be done. On the site if you right click the page to veiw the source you can actually see a tracker they coded on the web site. It looks like this...

var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-8942727-1");
pageTracker._trackPageview();
} catch(err) {}

This way they can track your IP address, get your home address, and phone number if you have a land line. I'm not sure who all they use to post jobs through, but this happened on CRAIGSLIST! I was very stupid to apply for that post, or any on craigslist for that matter. They just need your social for a credit scam. REMEMBER.... RECRUITAMERICA.INFO OR CHRISTINALONGO@RECRUITAMERICA.INFO.

Requires Credit Card Number

AUTHOR: Victoria - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 15, 2009

I don't know if there's a real job at the end of this ad or not, but when you go to get your credit report according to the link provided in Christy Longo's email, it requires your credit card. That's not cool. It signs you up into a credit monitoring program. That is a scam all by itself. And if there's no real job, then that would be a second scam. Their website looks fairly reputable, but they are not a well-known staffing agency, so there's no way of knowing unless you're willing to go through the entire process. I do know of a large well-known staffing agency, Spherion, that requires you get a credit report right up front, although you can get it yourself for free and bring it into the office.

UPDATE ON RECRUITAMERICA.INFO

AUTHOR: Racheln - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 13, 2009

The website no longer list the other companies to promote their page. I guess when I emailed all the other companies about it, the site had to pull the client list down. The website that did state recruitamerica.info was a credit scam no longer has the warning on their page either. Not sure why, but still BEWARE of the SCAM recruitamerica.info.

I am very aware of the fact that jobs do credit checks. My current job did one. I had a phone interview, a live interview, was contacted at regular hours, and before I was even asked to submit my credit information, in person, i was told the company I was working for, position, pay, hours, and place. Also, there was not another website posting a warning about my current company being involved in a scam. And just to let everyone else know, I was contacted from severel of the companies recruitamerica.info claimed to be affiliated with assuring me that they are not infact clients of recruitamerica.info. So yes that website is indeed a scam.

Legitimate companies with real job offers do not asks for credit checks up front. A credit check would come later after paperwork had been completed and a job offer made. This "credit check" scenario is a common scam on craigslist.com.

Many companies now check your credit status before hiring. It falls under the logic that if you can not even manage your own money, you probably can not manage a job.

Also just because you get a e mail about a job in the evening does not mean they are not on the up and up. Maybe time zone difference?
