The web site for Hyundai.com lists the miles per gallon for a GLS Sonata as 5-speed manual (city / highway) (4-cylinder) 21 / 32 MPG and 5-speed automatic (city / highway) (4-cylinder) 22 / 32 MPG.

This dealership did a full page advertisement that first listed the MPG in the Lakeland Ledger newspaper two weeks ago as 34 MPG. Then June 19th in the Advertiser advertisement it listed the 2009 Sonata GLS as getting 38MPG and then on June 21st in the Lakeland Ledger advertisement it listed the 2009 Sonata GLS as getting 37MPG.

Since I have been looking to purchase this particular model I find these advertisements misleading. I believe the dealership is uping the MPG to entice potential buyers when it is actually misleading. The dealership needs to print the truth in it's advertisements. According to Hyundai Motors USA it is 32 MPG
period.

Guess I will buy my Sonata maybe at the Hyundai dealership in Lakeland or Brandon. It's a shame as I live in Winter Haven where this dealership is located.

I work at another Hyundai dealer in Florida and we run the same type of advertisement about the 2009 Hyundai Sonata and its gas mileage rating of "UP TO 38 MPG". This is not false information. If you actually look at the window sticker it states that the "average" mpg for the highway is 32, but underneath that large number 32 it says that actual mileage on the highway varies from 26 to 38. What this means is that depending on your altitude, geographical location, driving habits, and the weight that you carry greatly affects the mpg from 26 up to 38 mpg. I have personally had multiple customers tell me that they have gotten at least 38 and in some cases as high as 40 mpg on the highway. Without doing further research you should probably not post comments like this which may be damaging to business for this or any dealership just because you don't understand how the advertisement is meant.

This company still posts MPG that now exceeds the establish MPG from Hyndai. The july 3 Advertiser continues to publish this misleading
information. Check the Lakeland Auto Mall. You will see MPG much lower. Guess if you drive to Winter Haven you get more MPG. Yeah right?
