My stay at the Red Roof Inn was satisfactory. I stayed the Red Roof for over 9 weeks. I am a disabled veteran having chemo treatment at the VA hospital in Ann Harbor. On morning of October 12, 2011 I was washing my hair and slipped in the tub. Causing damage as I fell to the floor. I c called the front desk for help they told me to hang up and call the ambulance myself. Went for several staples in my head at the VA. The hotel did not recall me nor the incident and there insurance company Liberty Mutual refused to pay for the damage. I wouldnt stay in this chain of hotels

I am glad to here your comment here and to notice the renovation that has taken place sense my accident. I can see you install a new tub and other item and all this action does make things better or pay my medical bills that I received from my accident at the red roof inn. The fault of the faulty tub (you called it a temporary tub for the moment) which did not meet the code for showering. Your main office refused to help me with my accident. The Liberty Insurance for the red roof refused payment but the DOD of the VA of America is looking to cancel there contract with red roof inn if I do not receive a adjustment for my medical bills I never for get my bleeding profusely from my head and your front deck would not help me.

Clarification needed?

To list all the damages would be rather lengthily but I will hope the following will satisfy some of your asks asked. Let me say there was considerable damage to the hotel room blood spread throughout all the room ( because on was on blood thinners). There was (broken rod, trays sheets, towels door and others damaged) I also took towels with me that I used to apply pressure to my head. (no charges from hotel on these items) I suffered sprains bruises and laceration to the head (several staples)
Answer some question to Cory - San Antonio (U.S.A.) Cory-- Shampoo is offer at this hotel for the guest to use or not. (Implying the guest may shower any place they wish) in the sink or the tub. I may state that the tub seem to be not shower friendly. No floor mate (rubber mate) to use in the tub. No slip resistance surface in the tub. No flat area (V shape) to stand on. (more) I would not allow my friend to shower in this tub. I felt the was not shower worthy but surely this tub met standards set forth but maybe not and this maybe the reason why the hotel has now renovated that room after the fact.
Information: The VA understood the situation and did not charge for medical services. The VA is looking into canceling the contract with Red Roof Inn for there violations or maybe the way they handled this situation. The Attorney General is also reviewing the situation

Let Him Collect

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 01, 2012

IF he does collect any money, he can turn around and reimburse the VA for his treatment, as a result of the fall. Or better yet, the insurance company can pay it directly to the VA.

Hmm..

I doubt it is the Red Roof Inn fault to pay you for slipping into the tub and hurt yourself. For example, if you walked into a broken tub (which obviously the hotel should have fixed before renting it to you) and slip on the broken part of the tub, then the injury could be for the hotel to pay.

In your report, it is obviously that you are washing your hair and slip into it yourself. No one (or the hotel) forces you to wash your hair. You are leasing their space while their responsibility is to clean and fix any thing if broken. There is no health or accident insurance for you unless it is proved to be their negligence (maybe?). Let me give you an example. Let say a friend of yours comes to visit and uses your bathroom which is just clean by you everyday to take a shower. The friend of yours fell down while taking a shower and has to go to the hospital. Do you think that your friend is right to sue you for any damages? And why?

Damage?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 29, 2012

You are unclear as to what "damage" you are talking about?  Are you talking about damage to the room that they want to charge you for, or are you talking about the injuries to yourself?

You seemed well enough to get out of the tub, make it to a phone and call the front desk?  If you were that bad why didn't you just call 9-1-1 yourself and avoid the "middle-man"?

Also, if you are at the VA did you have any "out of pocket" expenses for your injuries?  If so, are you claiming that the Motel was negligent in any way that caused you to fall in the first place?
