DO NOT RENT A DVD from Redbox. Redbox makes money by using dishonest practices. Have nothing to do with Redbox. They are unscrupulous. If you rent a movie from Redbox using a credit card or a bankcard, Redbox will overcharge your account on purpose to make money for them. They will steal your money. They will lie and tell you that the overcharge is your fault because you have failed to return the DVD on time. They will not correct their mistake. They are liars and frauds. On August 15, 2013, I have rented a 24-hour movie from Redbox located at the Dillon's market in Wichita, KS with my bankcard. On August 15, 2013, I have received an email confirming my movie rental, Assault on Wall Street, and that I owe Redbox $1.29 for the movie.

I have returned the movie the very next day. I have not received a receipt from Redbox after returning my disc the next day. On Sept. 6, 2013, Redbox has sent me a receipt through email saying, “Thank you for using Redbox! The receipt below is for your additional day's rental. You have been charged the maximum amount for this rental and the disc is now yours to keep. If you choose to return the disc to a Redbox kiosk, you will not receive any refund.” Redbox has charged my bankcard $27.00 instead of $1.29 for a one-day rental of the movie, Assault on Wall Street.

On Sept. 18, 2013, I have disputed this amount, and the same day, a Redbox Customer Care Representative has sent an email saying, “Thanks for your email! I am very sorry that you are seeing additional charges on your account that are unfamiliar to you. I can completely understand how that can be concerning. I want to help you to the best of my abilities, so we can find a resolution for you. In reviewing your account, I show that the disc Assault on Wall Street is not showing as returned in our system. Please be advised a member of our staff checks each kiosk weekly to ensure all discs have been returned properly, and if not will check the discs in on their appropriate due date. Please understand that if the discs are not found inside the kiosk, your account will be charged for the replacement.

As the rental has not been found in the machine during the inventory search. The account was charged. As the disc was not found in the machine or rented by another customer. What we can offer to you is the partial refund of $10.00 for the disc. If you accept this refund, please call, chat or email us and any member of our customer care team will able to assist you. For future transactions, if you do not receive the confirmation on the screen and your confirmation email on the same date of the return. Please contact us immediately. That way we can resolve the situation sooner on your account.” Of course, my dispute with Redbox is unresolved and ongoing until Redbox refunds the full amount to my bankcard. Do not rent a DVD, Blu Ray, or video game from Redbox.

Redbox is a Crook

AUTHOR: 5cents - ()

POSTED: Saturday, October 19, 2013

September 30, 2013, I have reported my complaint against Redbox to the BBB. On October 9, 2013, Redbox has agreed to refund $25.72 to my bank account for my 24-hour video rental on August 15, 2013 at the Dillon's market in Wichita, KS. October 9, 2013, Redbox has sent me an email: Your refund is being processed. Thanks for contacting the Redbox Customer Care team! We've issued you a refund on your rental. Please allow 5–7 business days for the credit to show up in your account. October 9, 2013, The BBB has sent me a response from Redbox: Dear (Consumer), We have received your recent contact through the BBB. I would like to acknowledge your concerns and sincerely apologize for the unsatisfactory experience. Customer satisfaction is a top priority for Redbox. After reviewing your account as a courtesy we have issued a refund in the amount of $25.72 back to your account. The remaining charge is for the initial days rental. Please be advised that all refunds take up to 7 business days to show back in your account.  It is very important that when renting disc in order to avoid additional night fees all disc must be returned by 9pm the next day, and to assist with verifying rather or not a disc was returned please enter your email address at the kiosk during your transaction. When returning DVDs and a confirmation email is not received within 24hrs of the return please contact our Customer Service Dept. at 1.866.REDBOX.3If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us. Thank you, Junior Sandoval :: Corporate Escalations :: Outerwall, Inc. October 10, 2013, I have told the BBB that I am satisfied with the business response and that I have accepted the response from the business.

Guess what has happened so far between Oct. 10, 2013 and Oct. 19, 2013? Nothing! So far, Redbox has not returned $25.72 or any amount of money to my bank account. Redbox has lied to me. Redbox has lied to the Better Business Bureau.
