A couple of years ago Regal Cinemas sold a soda pop cup called the Regalator which if you bought one you were gaurunteed lifetime pop refills in it for $1.00. It was a nice looking hard molded cup with a screw on top and a twist open cap that a straw could be put through. It was made of a thick plastic and there was no way to break this cup unless you were to jump on it, it would easily last a lifetime.

They switched from Pepsi to Coke and now they made us change our cups (which had a small pepsi logo on it) to a very cheap plastic cup that you could get at any store with a regalator logo. The cup has no molded lid, no sturdyness, it will not last. The problem that I have is that they forced me to switch to a substandard replacement of a cup and if it cracks (as all of these will eventually) they have no procedure or replacement program. When I purchased the cup I looked at it as a deal since it was made so well that it would last me for many many years, but now they made me change to another cup that is not the same deal as I originally bought.

It was like taking in your Lexus to get an oil change and they give you back a Yugo. The cup will not last as long. I have written them at Regal several times and I get someone who relays messages from other people. I think they should replace a strong cup with a strong cup, or let us keep the old ones.

Back again to save the day! xD

AUTHOR: Amber - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 21, 2010

This is Amber from Kissimmee again. I haven't been here in forever, but I wanted to check up on the few threads I made an appearance in.

I don't work for Regal anymore, but I think I can still speak for most of the employees when I say that anyone who expects a cup to last until you die is a bit misguided. I don't think they specified at the theater over whether it was the cup's lifetime OR yours, and certainly had no intention of misleading you.

Not all Regal's are created equally

AUTHOR: Scurvydog44035 - (U.S.A.)

I live in Elyria Ohio and we go to a Regal Cinema in the Shefffield Plaza. I was told over a year ago they didnt have replacement cups for the substandard coke cups and I lose. Our two cups only lasted a couple of years and then they started cracking near the bottom. We were told they didnt have replacements. If any Regal Cinema does and wishes to help Avid movie goers please help. We actually go to the Midway Mall Cinema 50% of the time now because of cheaper concession prices. I'll pay for shipping, handling or whatever.

The gentleman who first brought this up had forsight for the exact problem I did have. The first cups were way better. I wish I didnt turn my in. BTW when we bought these the cinema employees said it was our lifetime no where did they say it was the cups lifetime.

Pepsi changing to Coke

AUTHOR: Amber - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 02, 2009

If he wants an explanation, this is the only one we, as a company, have.

The Regalator cups were supplied by Pepsi. Coke offered a better deal for us to use their product and in turn, it forced us to change the cups due to the logo appearing on the Regalator itself. Coke just supplies cheaper cups. I went to my manager for advice on this and that's what he told me.

Most theaters have extras in the back for exchanges and most theaters will make the exchange under the consideration that the customer did buy into the offer for a better product. A lifetime of drink refills for $1.00 is not 'your' lifetime, however. It's the cup's lifetime.

I, personally, apologize if you're unhappy with the new cup (Note that the original post was made 4 years ago), but like I said, we have much better promotions now.

"they made me change to another cup"

AUTHOR: Kem - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 01, 2009

There are very good points made here. Unfortunately, they don't address the original problem.
It is nice to know that a replacement program does exist for the "new" type of Regalator cup. "You dint need to get the new cup" and "u dont have 2 buy a drink" are decent suggestions also but that is not what he is complaining about.
What the original poster is saying is that they won't let him use his stronger original cup......they made him change to a cheaper, substandard cup. He feels he should be able to either keep using his original cup or have it replaced with one equally strong.
It's nice to know, as one post suggests, that he has probably saved enough money to cover the cost of the original cup many times over. So, does that mean that it's ok for Regal Cinemas to recind on the original offer?
I think he deserves an explanation.

Regal Cinema Concession Shift Lead

I work at one of Regal's larger theaters in Orlando Fl, and although I admit that I'm unsure how much you paid originally for your Regalator, you've saved money in the end.

Our normal prices for drinks are:

Small - 4.50
Md. - 5.00
Lg. - 5.50

Regalators are fairly old news. We receive them maybe once every few weeks, and yes, it's the more cheaply made one (Though I remember the nicer ones from when my dad and I used to go to the movies when I was a little younger).

Even if you spent $15.00 on the original cup itself, you will have saved enough to cover it's cost in three or four visits, and with candy that costs $4, and popcorn that goes up to $7.50, that's a really awesome value, especially if you go to the movies as often as I used to before working there. In six visits (Roughly two months for me), you'll have saved a lot more, and that's only if you don't go refill more than once!

You should also remember that we have an awesome Regal Crown Club program now in place of the Regalator promotion, which gives you a completely free, no strings attached loyalty card that you give to us when you buy tickets and snacks. When you give it to us, we ring it through like a credit card and it adds points to your account. When you reach certain landmarks for points, when you buy your ticket, it prints out a coupon for free popcorn, soda, and movie tickets. The food coupons are even allowed to be upsized (so if you wanted a large popcorn, you would only pay 1.75, rather than 7.50!). As an RCC member, we also have weekly promotions such as our dollar candy Mondays (where most candies are only a dollar rather than four), and dollar popcorn Tuesdays!

Promotions tend to come and go, but as some go, even better ones are brought to the table and I would highly suggest looking into our obligation-free offers like the RCC card.

Replacement program does exist.

AUTHOR: Matticus - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 16, 2008

"they have no procedure or replacement program"

The regalator cups are completely replacable, if you break them in anyway you bring it to the concession stand and they can replace it free of charge. We stock many in our stock room just for that situation.
