Received a call with no number coming up on caller ID saying they wanted to verify the cancellation we'd made on our account.  They identified themselves as Regional Yellow Pages.  They said we'd had an account for two years and were going to send us a bill for the previous year since we were cancelling. I told her we hadn't signed up for any account and she said well we'd been listed on their web site for the last two years.  Lady told me to hold on a moment.

Another lady came on to say they were recording the conversation and to please just answer simply "yes" so as not to interrupt the agreement for cancellation.  I complied till she asked my fax number which I wouldn't give out and then when she said they were sending a $479 bill!  Then I loudly said, "What!!"  ...for your last years listing....

I answered her with we never agreed to any account, I never saw any account etc etc.  She asked if hadn't the last lady gone over with me our account balance.  I replied she said something about owing $4.79 - so she put me back to the first lady.  I told her same things - no account - etc. etc and asked to speak to a supervisor. She told me there wasn't one - I asked again - she said they'd say the same thing.  When I asked again she said it would go out to collection and hung up!

Happen to me too

I get calls like that all the time where I work.  I just hang up on them also.  Just like the other poster said, they have called me right back saying we were disconnected.  I don't know how people like this get away with this stuff.  One time I was in a bad mood and when they started in with all their nonsense, I just said we don't even have a phone.  The telemarketer was dumbfounded.

I work for a company that gets calls from these guys all the time... at least 4 times a week. We know just to hang up on them... but some times they will actually call back and say sorry we were disconnected.
