I'm being erroneously billed by this company and they are refusing to correct it. They've acted deceiptful and abusively toward me. The Better Business Bureau has over 610 complaints. I'm looking to band a group together of all the other complaintants to seek legal action, hopefully with restitution and put them out of business. Anyone interested? I was using the internet when a web site claiming to show nude celebrites popped up under the title nocreditcard.com. I closed the window and I thought that was it Approximately one week later, I received a bill in the mail for $176.04 from Alyon technologies. They stated that I spent 36 minutes on their site at a rate of $4.99/minute. I was shocked and my sister was very pissed off cause the bill was under her name. I denied visiting the site and told her that I would not pay the bill. I viewed their FAQ and it seemed like they had a rebuttal for any statement. So at this time I was stuck. I contacted a law group and explained my situation. They were not interested in taking the case and told me to read articles on the Consumer Law Page to find the right lawyer. I felt like I had been ripped off and knew that I was probably not the first. I felt that their company had set up a deceitful business that tried to charge $300/hr. I'm not a desperate person that needs to look at their site. And if I did want to spend $300/hr on porn, I might as well have hired a prostitute, which is probably cheaper. I did not receive anymore bills from them after January 2003 and I wondered why. Then, in April my sister told me she had seen something on TV about this company and how they were being investigated for (censored). I was quite happy about this. When I did a search on the internet, I found all these complaints. It was a relief in a way to know that I hadn't been the only person they had done this to. I was angry too though, because they have done this to so many people and unfortunately some people paid their bill. I hope this company is shut down. They try to take advantage of innocent people and their sites are accessible to minors which is wrong. Jon San Bernardino, CaliforniaU.S.A.

I also have 900 call block on my phone service. This is a (censored)of some kind. Please shut this site down. Thank you. V Floresville, TexasU.S.A.

Alyon Technologies, Inc. uses (censored)billing to rip-off the elderly Elizabeth New Jersey My elderly grandmother whose sole source of income is social security was billed $483.16 from Alyon Technologies, Inc. She was about to send in the money not even knowing what it was for! I saw the bill and luckily looked it up on the internet finding Alyon involved in alleged deceptive practices. My grandmother is 79 years old and does not use a computer. I think it is horrible for a company to prey upon old people with limited income who are bullied into paying a false bill. Nineteen States Sue Software Firm; Allege Web (censored) Thu May 15, 2003 04:44 PM ET SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - California and 18 other states on Thursday brought a consumer protection lawsuit against Alyon Technologies Inc. for allegedly running a (censored)that automatically connected peoples' computers to porn sites then charged steep fees to their phone bills. California Attorney General Bill Lockyer in a statement said Alyon, a New Jersey-based software company, installed pop-up ads that automatically dialed expensive adult Web sites without consent. He said the suit was brought after his office received dozens of complaints from consumers who had received steep bills from porn sites they had never knowingly visited. The sites Alyon links to require no credit cards but charge $4.99 per minute to a consumer's phone bill, according to the complaint. The complaint also charges that Alyon engages in unfair business practices when attempting to collect payment from consumers. The suit is asking Alyon to provide better instructions on how consumers can remove the automatic dialer software from their computers. Alyon could not immediately be reached for comment. On 5/19/03 I received a bill from Alyon Technologies for supposedly accessing premium web content only 5 days earlier (5/14/03). Although the bill was addressed to me, I do not own the billing telephone number (nor do I own a computer). I e-mailed the company and was told to send a copy of my telephone bill or a letter from my telephone company stating I am not responsible for the telephone account (which my telephone company refuses to do, although they assure me I am not listed on the account). I refuse to send a copy of my telephone bill and give Alyon Technologies more information about me which they will most likely use to commit more (censored)! I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and also plan to file complaints with state and federal authorities according to suggestions I have read on this website. I recieved a bill for 73.25 from Alyon Technologies on May 22,2003 for charges incurred on may 17,2003 at 11:52 thru 11:59 P.M. I was sleeping at the time these charges were supposedly incurred. I have never contacted a porno website and don't intend to in the future. I have an eleven year old daughter and am very concerned about these pop-up porno adds. I tried contacting the company several times but their customer representatives re always busy. I am going to refuse to pay these charges and would like to know what recourse I have. Alyon Technologies ripoff I was charged $83.13 for a internet site which I know I did not use Elizabeth New Jersey
I received a charge for 83.13 on 05/25/2003 for a Web Content. I called and told them that I did not use this service and I also sent them a letter. I received a phone call saying that this was made from my home phone. I explained to them that I am disabled and on a fixed income and the computer is right by my bed for my use only. I did not hear anything till last week I received a phone call and the man was very rude told me that it was turned in for collection, and I would pay it. Like I explained to him I have no reason to go on this site plus I should know if I did. I really feel that this was very unfair and I know if it happened to me others have been charged also. Alyon Technologies Aka Merchants Credit Guide harassing debt collection on bogus debts Chicago Illinois
This is just an update on this firm, which I understand in operating under several aka's....they have an excellent screen-prompt reply script, and are very belligerent when pushed off topic - the phone people must be under a tight clock and constant audio surveilance... background noise indicates that this is a large phone room....the name Ken Hughes is used as the teaser, but he is never available.... Their phone message states that they are not a sales call, but does not state any company name or reason for your call back. In all probablitlity they are buying ancient debt lists (the account they are trying to colect on from me has been closed and off the record for 7 years) and trying to collect on them. They insist that all formal communication be in writing, but will continue to inundate you with autodialer messages during that time. Any activity directed at you should be immediately reported to the FTC via their online complaint site. Only an huge public response via the web will get any action, if that will at all. Alyon Technologies Aka First Credit Of America ripoff, Claimed internet charges, not real, 2 years ago, harassing, Nationwide
My wife received a call looking for me. Stated to her that I had a large debt going into collections from an internet porn site. My wife asked a Ms. Williams to call me back when I was home. My wife confronted me and I did not know what she was talking about. Ms. Williams called, and offered me a settlement and assured me that if I did not settle the credit collections company would call daily. I asked her for the address, she would not give it to me, or a phone number. she did give me a web site that does not work. I asked for some written documentation of said charges, and she stated she would e-mail them. I never received an email. Also no additional calls. Amazing how this report sounds like the others... Alyon Technologies Aka First Credit Of America ripoff, Claimed internet charges, not real, 2 years ago, harassing Internet
Last week my wife seemed upset at me. When I asked her, she had received a call frof above company with the complaint that there was a bill outstanding in collections. When she asked about it, it was told to her it was an internet porn site. When we spoke, I needed to reassure her that this charge was false. They then called again, was willing to settle. My wife asked if they would call back when I was home. They reluctantly agreed. I spoke to a Ms. Williams who kept repeating that the settlement was a good deal. I told her only if I had actually incurred the charges. she then told me they would call daily to attempt to collect a debt.. then it got ugly. I suggested this would be harassment, she said unless I had a lawyer, I should not talk of what they could do. I asked for written documentation of this so called claim. She said she would e-mail me. This was hours ago. I asked her for a physical address, she refused, but offered me a web site, which is not operational. I will see this matter through. Richard North Haven, ConnecticutU.S.A.
