Cross Country Bank ripoff Huntington West Virginia
Cross Country Bank Ripped me off Big Time. I paid my balance off completely, then I was laid off twice in one year after 9/11 attacks. I paid for insurance on my credit card in order to protect my credit. Cross Country took my balance from $0 to $1311.00. In fees only. I had to move and get my number unplublished because they would call me five times a day harrassing my family. Every time I would tell them I had insurance and the insurance was supposed to pay for my minimum monthly balance. I contacted the insurance company, after sending in al of my documentation. I actually had to send the information certified with return receipt request in order to keep them from lying and saying that they did not get it once again. After five months the insurance company paid a whole $38.00 on my card. after Five months. I called Cross Country back only to be told, I see why you got fired from your job bitch. From one of the customer service representatives. I attempted once more to explain, I am not paying for something that should be paid for alreasy, I have insurance on this card, being laid off is covered under the contracted agreement between me and cross country bank. As is stands today, I have a $1311. balance on my credit report I refuse to pay. This credit is hurting me even when it comes to car insurance. I refuse to pay this money. That is like having auto insurance, getting in an accident and you and the other party are not covered because your insurance company refused to do so. I HATE CROSS COUNTRY BANK AND I HOPE THEY GO OUT OF BUSINESS. SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING WITH THEM. Add'l an ex-co-worker of mine, was sent a cross country bank credit card int he mail. SHE NEVER ACTIVATED IT!!!! Cross Country Bank sent her an over draft statement with fees included on a credit card, SHE NEVER ACTIVATED!!! Again, this was going on while I was fighting with them as well. This company is PURE EVIL FROM HELL. They think that it is funny. Ruining peoples credit and taking their money is not funny. I want to sue them so bad. They need to pay me and my family for everything they have done to us. Thank you Rose Columbus, OhioU.S.A.

Cross Country Bank fraudulent credit reporting Ripoff Wilmington Delaware
In 1997, I opened a joint credit card account with my live-in boyfriend. 2 years later, we broke up, but he kept the card and did not keep up the payments. In 2003, Midland Credit sent me a collection letter for $1094.57, which I immediately paid in full. I was sent a paid in full letter that clearly states that the debt originally belonged to Cross Country Bank. Now here I am over 2 years later with an entry on my credit report that still states Bad Debt/Collection as the Current Status on two of the three credit bureau reports. They got it right with Transunion- they reported Account sold-Balance 0, but with the other two, every month, they report that it is a current bad debt. I have called Cross Country more times than I know to ask how to resolve this, I have faxed them copies of my receipt, AND I have disputed this with Equifax and Experian so many times that they will no longer let me dispute. It is the only bad mark on my credit reports. I have worked very hard to take my credit score from non-existent to a respectable level in the past 8 years. This has been a hard lesson to learn, and I've learned to take responsiblity and have TAKEN responsibility. So why am I still being wronged month after month after month? When I call Midland, they are rude and say it is not their responsibility to make CCB update my credit report. CCB says that it must be the credit bureaus making the mistake- that all three should be reporting Account sold- balance 0. The credit bureaus won't even let me dispute anymore because everytime they've called to verify, CCB has verified the information as CORRECT! I just don't know what else to do- other than to wait it out until the collection is over 7 years old. Kimberly Phoenix, ArizonaU.S.A.

Cross Country Bank serious fee overcharging ripoff Wilmington Delaware
I have had several problems with this bank! The first happened the 2nd month I had the account. I was charged a $32 overlimit fee for being $7 over my limit for a total of 3 days (I had sent in a 2nd payment for the month because I knew I was close to my limit) it took several angry phone calls and letters to get a proper response. Last month, my payment was delayed in the mail, possibly due to the extra holiday mail. I was subsequently charged another $32 fee, but did not complain, because there was no way to prove anything. My total payment due for the month was $67, of which I sent $60. Naturally i was charged another $32. I have since closed the account, and hope that something can be done about them! Thank you! Cross Country Bank ripoff Boca Raton Florida
I received a credit card from Cross Cuntry Bank almost 3 years ago and am still unable to get rid of them. The fees were rediculous right from the beginning. I signed up for the Payment Protection incase of disability or unemployment. About 6 months later i got fired from my job and decided to take advantage of the Payment Protection Plan. When i called them regarding that they told me that i cancelled it last month. which is Bull, because it was on my last statement. i have had many problems with them but the worst is that i still can't get away from them. about 6 months ago i called them and said that i wanted to pay off my balance of $610. they told me that they couldn't accept the whole ammount. that i would have to pay a settlement offer. so i said fine. i figured it would get them off of my back. well i paid them $305. and they said my account was settled. well since then they have reported my account as a charge off to the credit bureaus, and are sending me more settlement offers. so basically they took the $305 as a peyment instead og a settlement. i had perfect credit before doing business with them. and now i am having a hard time getting them out of my life. Cross Country Bank ripoff! mistreated and ripped off Boca Raton Florida
I had an account with them for 5 years. In that time i had 1 late payment which i even tried to avoid by calling them on the day the payment was due and make a payment by phone. They refused to waive the fee and I closed my account. Then I get a bill that shows my Interest rate raised to a whopping 29.9% and a $6 participation fee which I was completely unaware of. When I called to find out why I had this fee they claimed to have mailed out a notice about a fee being charged if your acct. balance was over $1000 and that since I did not respond in writing within 30 days of their notice to opt out of it, I now have to pay that. I have no recollection of ever receiveing this notice but that didn't seem to matter to them. Also, they said the notice also stated an increase of 3% interest rate to my acct. Then since I had that 1 late payment in 5 years they had raised my rate 6% more. This is (il)legalized loan sharking if you ask me. Alan kewaunee, WisconsinU.S.A.

Cross Country Bank rip-off scam con artists Boco Raton Florida
This company has threatened me for the amount of 997.00 in interest charges. I couldn't believe this amount! I tried to work with these people, but they would not listen! They called me several times a day, even on Christmas! I do not owe this kind of money at all. Then a couple of months ago, a collection agency contacted me by mail threatening me to pay or else. I already paid off 150.00 to these people. I didn't know they were a scam, until I read about other people went through the same thing I did. Deborah Fort Myers, FloridaU.S.A.

Cross Country Bank ripoff bogus fees ignorant employees liars Boca Rotan Florida
i had a visa w/ccb and all they ever did was charge over the limit fees and other junk charges i tried everything to pay this card off.when i realized that a clear balance was never going to happen i stopped sending payments in, ccb then took $100.00 from my checking acct and never posted it to my acct.their collections dept kept calling me which i thought was funny because they would call me a deadbeat and i should pay my bills like a responsible member of society, the reason i found them funny is because i am a car salesman and i see peoples credit reports all day long and my personel experience with people in collections that were trying to buy a car from me were alwats the same. they have the worst credit among all proffessions, they have the most accts in collections and could not finance a $1.00 hamburger with $0.99 down so next time those flakes at ccb call you names and mistreat you verbally remember those min wage **sholes should practice what they preach . i managed to get them off my back by sending all my records to my state atty general changing my phone # closing my bank accts and transferring to another dealership.i am really looking forward to the response from those stupid and funny ccb emloyees who always say read your card aggreement that their own company doesnt even follow except when it comes to charging you bogus fees. Cross Country Bank deceptive practices, fraud deceptive company Boca Raton Florida
I made a payment arrangement with CCB. They are debiting my account every month on the same date for the same amount as agreed. The collections department assured me this would eliminate any over limit or late fees. Every month I am still being charged over limit and late fees. I called to straighten this out and was told that the payment amount was insufficient and the date was 3 days after my closing date, making every payment late. (I argued that couldn't that mean that it was EARLY for the next month?? They said no - apparently there is a week of time where a payment is considered late, but not early for the next month... payment Limbo) When I complained that the arrangement amount and dates were set by their collection dept for the purpose of avoiding late fees and over limit fees, they told me... HONEY, COLLECTIONS WILL SAY ANYTHING TO GET A PAYMENT OUT OF YOU. In other words, they lied to me... and now I make payments of $108 each month, with $96 going back to them in fees. In six months I've paid close to $700 with my balance decreasing only about $50.... Abby Carmel, CaliforniaU.S.A.

Cross Country Bank unfair late charges, lying and deceitful reps ripoff Boca Ratan Florida
My wife and I got involved with Cross Country Bank about 3 years ago. Our credit was bad and we saw this as a way of hopefully reestablishing our credit. We received two offers from Cross Country, one in my name and one in my wife's name. We sent in both applications and both received our cards about two weeks later. I beleive each card had a $300 hundred dollar limit. The problems began almost immediatly. We would send in our payments (usually about 2 weeks before they where due), but every bill that we received showed late charges. When we called to ask about them, the reps that we spoke to where extremly rude and unhelpful. The told us that once the charges where in place that there was nothing that they could do about them. I when ahead and payed them for the first couple of months. When we saw that it was starting to get out of hand, we cut up the cards, called the company, and asked for our accounts to be closed. The reps told us that we had to send in our request in writing and that the accounts would remain open until they received our request in the mail. We sent in two requests, one for my account and one for my wifes, two months later we were still getting bills with new late charges. After sending several payments (some of which were NEVER applied to our accounts) we stopped sending them money. 3 years later we have had several letters and phone calls from them offering to settle for a portion of the money that they say that we owe them. Just last week my wife received a summons to appear in court. Apparently our so called delinquent account was sold to a third party collection company who is now suing us for the balance on her account plus court costs. I assume that my account will soon follow although I havn't heard of anything yet. To anyone even THINKING about using this company, DON'T!! They are complete scam artists and will ruin your credit and your life. Carl Granby, MissouriU.S.A.

im here to tell you all how cross country bank is a big rip off. when i received a cross country bank card i was told to have a 350.00 credit limited, but i found out that it wasn't true. the only limit i had was a 150.00 on my credit card (BIG DIFFERENCE). CROSS COUNTRY BANK rip-off! Over charges and fees! BOCA RATON Florida
I had a card with rip-off cross country bank. Lately I have been harassed by an attorney for them about this account. I had this in debt consolidation with a firm in boca raton and after four years seemed like nothing got paid off or down and the interest never went down. I received a letter today from this firm saying they wanted the $2400 in seven days. This was a $300 max limit card of which I never used to the $300 is now $2400 due to late fees and over charges. They accepted the proposal from Debt Management Credit couseling Corp but never showed any pay off accounts or anything else. I notified the attorney and CCb that I had no Alternative but to file bankruptcy and then I get this letter wanting payment in seven days. I take home $640 a month and my daughter makes $400 and that doesnt even cover the bills, so are they going to make me homeless over this exaggerated account. I would gladly settle for $500 and get it paid off but $2400 is a BIG RIP OFF Connie Spencer, IowaU.S.A.

Cross Country Bank Poor Customer Service Boca Raton Florida
I know that this will accomplish nothing but it is worth a try. This letter has been faxed several times. I have never received a responce. An Open Letter To: Meryl Beard VP Customer Service Fax # (561)994-9829 Re: Acct#: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Mr. Beard, I am writing you this letter to ask for your assistance in a matter with your Bank. I have recently paid off the above referenced account in full. You company placed this account in a charge off status in June 2003. The reason for this is that the person I was a joint account holder with listed another account with your bank in her Bankruptcy. This account was not to be included. I spoke with your customer service department and was told that it is the policy of your company to include all accounts regardless of status. I was able to get this account taken out of the BK, however as a result of being included in the first place, it was past due. At that point your company charged off the account. My thought process is that if you had not placed this account in the BK and had not stopped sending statements there would have been no late payments. I have since paid off the account. I feel that since the account has been paid in full, without settlement that you should work with me in resolving this matter. Removing the trade line from my credit history can do this. My experience wit you customer service department (to this point) has been like pulling teeth. I have been sending faxes and making phone calls with no response from your company what so ever. I would ask that you, yourself respond to me with a resolution to this issue. I feel that my request is fair and not unwarranted. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Cross Country Bank Misleading, Illegal, Fraudulant Credit Reporting Tactics! Boca Raton Florida
Consumer BEWARE! If you're thinking about accepting a credit card account with Cross Country Bank--DON'T! This so-called bank has the ethics of back-alley scheisters! Be prepared to fight bad, and misleading credit reporting with the Credit Reporting Agencies even if you've always been on time; even if you've received Federal protection under Chapter 7 Bankruptcy years ago! Currently, 4-2004, I have sent a dispute to the three major CRA's (credit reporting agencies) about this bank that continues to report false information on me, and my husband when we are no longer liable for our old credit card debt since 1999! They use deceptive tactics when reporting you the moment they feel that the account is about to be taken off your credit, so that they can resubmit false information in order to ruin your credit status! It all started back in 1999 after we had been forced to file for Chapter 7. They immediately reported the account as having been delinquent 120+ days when I had ALL the proof that we had NEVER been late in our payments even up to filing our Bankruptcy petition! Since we didn't want any more credit anyhow, we didn't dispute this false information, yet somehow the CRA's are wisening up to scheister-credit grantors' false reporting to them, and perhaps asked for proof of the 120+ days of alleged delinquencies, which they, of course, couldn't produce; therefore, were forced correct. So as the years went by, I, as an educated consumer of consumer rights, pulled both my husband's and my credit reports, and discovered that Cross Country, out of all the creditors listed in our Bankruptcy petition, was continuing to report false and misleading information, now saying that the account was an installment account! It never was! They are reporting different things to different CRA's; reporting, for example on our Experian report that this once revolving account that had evolved into an installment account, was discharged through BK Ch. 7, 11, or 12 on 07/31/1999 which is false. On my husband's Trans Union report, they report that the account (that miraculously went from being a revolving account to an installment account) was charged off on 8/2003! Needless to say, we are disputing these false and misleading reportings of this bank, but my advice to anyone even considering accepting an account with this ruthless, unethical bank--DON'T! I will keep you updated on the results of the credit reporting agency dispute regarding Cross Country Bank. Aaitje Covina, CaliforniaU.S.A.

Cross Country Bank ripoff I had no idea what I was getting myself into Internet
I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Applied for a credit card with cross country bank and all hail broke loose. Things were fine for a while. Then the over limit fees came. Along with those they drafted my checking account twice in one month and was not authorized to do so. An overdraft fee was charged to my checking account for a bounced check, due to their error. A few calls enabled me to get my money put back into the account, but rest assured it wasn't put back as fast as it was taken out. They even refused to pay the overdraft fee. My due date miraculously changes whenever I turn around, so there are always late fees attached. The annual % is always increasing and this is from someone who called and requested my account be closed. On a closed account you can still rack up over limit fees, as well as late fees. To boot, they were still charging me insurance on a closed account. Have been trying to get this MESS taken care of but it seems that the total increases instead of decreases. At this rate a credit counselor has informed me that it will tale 15 years to clear it up. DO NOT, under any circumstances deal with these folks who claim that they practice legal, and good business ethics. mother m hollywood, FloridaU.S.A.

Cross Country Bank ripoff billing practice, unfair charges on credit card bill Wilmington Delaware
My wife received a Cross Country credit card in june 2005. She of course used the card right after she got it. She made a large payment at the end of june that posted on july 1. A week later, she received her first bill for the charges in june. At the end of july she sent another payment, more then the minimum amount. She asked me to look at her account online and I notice the payment was posted on August 4 and a late charge was posted also for this day. I double checked the statement and it said the payment is due on the 29th. I thought she was ahead in payments. She called Cross Country Bank and spoke with Diane. My wife always has me listen in on these calls. My wife told Diane what was going on. Diane immediately stated the payments where late. B.S. I intervened on behalf of my wife at this point. I was quick to point out that we were sending payments in early and in no way were they late. According to Diane, if the payment arrives before the bills go out, they don't count. Ok, I'm starting to lose it here I'll admit, but stayed calm. This is where it gets better. I told Diane the payment due date of the 29th is no good and should be changed to the 7th. Diane said she would send a request but it could take 2 billing cycles to take affect. WHAT, TWO BILLING CYCLES. THAT'S 2 MONTHS. This is not a fair business practice. I have dealt with other creditors on changing due dates in the past. If the change wasn't immediate, it took affect within 1 cycle and no charges were made. Well Diane said as a courtesy she would remove the late charge that was posted, however, if my wife did not make future payments before the 29th she will be given a late charge. I still said she was not late. Diane asked if she could be of further service and I said yes. Expedite the due date change or I will be calling back. She said, since she could not be of any further service, have a nice day. End of Call. Well I'm not satisfied and neither is my wife. I plan on being a thorn in their side until they make it right. I wish I would have checked this site before my wife requested this card. James Gresham, OregonU.S.A.

Cross Country Bank DIDN'T PAY CAP INS, CHARGED LATE AND OVERLIMIT FEES Wilmington Delaware
My charges were less than $350.00 and now the total is $1977.57. This has occured because of the over the limit fees, late fees, finance charges, and the cap ins that I paid for, which didn't pay when I went on medical leave. I applied for my ins when I got hurt on the job, the ins co. said they needed 3 mnonths statements from before my accident. When I called the company they said I should have kept the monthly bills that I had recieved. Since I was out of work, I couldn't afford to send the payments andymore. They canceled the cap ins. and kept charging me over the limit fees, late fees, and finace charges. The people when they call are very rude, I actually had one tell me that I was lying about my medical condition. Now that it is with a collection agency the calls still come some are still very rude. They said that since i couldn't pay the offer that they were making that was my refusal to pay, event though I offered to let my lawyer right them a garantee of payment upon my workman's comp case. Cross Country Bank Un Believable and Fraudulent Fees Wilmington Delaware
I know that I will be striking a chord when I mention the shafting I have been taking from Cross Country Bank. First off, I have tried for years to get these people to reduce my interest rate. I've gotten nothing but the run around and numerous excuses when I am able to reach them as to why it's not in their policy. Second, I have been subjected to a Participation fee for having the card which I have asked on numberous times to have them remove, but get an excuse that it can only be removed when the balance has been paid off, although they claim that I received info about this bogus fee and was given the opportunity to OPT out. What peson in their right mind would purposley subject themselves to a fraudulent fee every month. When I finally spoke to someone, I was told that I needed to get the balance below $1000.00 to have the fee removed. Third, I have tried to get them to explain why I am paying a cash advance fee when the card has been cut up for 10+ months, and all I am doing is trying to pay off the balance. The answer I finally got was because at one time you asked for a credit increase, another time you went over your limit (which I got a fee of $30.00 added to my account), yet another time I was late with my payment(so they claim)which I got another take it in the shorts fee, but I have been paying over the internet and received a confirmation number that the payment was posted before the due date. So when pressed to speak to a manager, the response is we'll have to take your number and call you back. I am STILL waiting for that one to be taken care of! Fourth, The Kicker is this one. I currently have a balance of $1800.04, the minimum payment is $54.00, the finance charge is $50.83, which means $3.17 is being applied to the balance, 94% of the money I send to this F@%*%#! company is going to their Bull!&%# finance charges. When asked about that finance charge, along with the 30% interest I am being charged, the response was because I had a late payment by 6 days almost a year ago, that was the reason. But the funny thing is (again) is that my payments are made on the internet and (supposedly) posted that day, when in actuality, they aren't and I am dinged for the fees. Plus If this reaming isn't enough, I get the pleasure of an annual fee of $50.00 coming up here by the 14th of January '04 just for being one of the unfortunate individuals that is associated with this crooked company by virtue of their enslavement credit card. Believe me I get so angry thinking about the money I have shelled out just to stay on top of this thing, knowing that I am taking it up the tail pipe with all their fees and finance charges that I wish that the F*^&#! Iraqis would take their aggression out on this company and bury them into oblivion. Anthony Scottsdale, ArizonaU.S.A.

Cross Country Bank ripoff deliberate reporting of incorrect info to credit bureau Wilmington Delaware
Account paid in agreed upon settlement after 6 months of harrassing phone calls to home and job. Threatened me and my 14yr old son. Took new mortgage out on house and Cross Country was paid in December 2000. On Experian credit report they list themselves as being a collection account and credit high balance of 1400 in 2002. They list last activity unknown. Balance 0. Date Paid Unknown. Sometimes it will say Consumer paid for less than full balance. Charge Off 5800. How can there be a charge off of total amount they charged and a payoff of 3500 that they report as unknown. The credit limit on acct was 3500. The additional 2000 are fees they charged to a closed acct. I disputed 2 times with Experian Credit Bureau but they say info is correct. Now I have reported Experian with FTC and CCB. These people were paid almost 3 years ago. Now a report was pulled by a bank for a mortgage I need and it says CCB reports date of last activity March 2003. Seems they only report incorrectly to Experian. So now I deal with a 620 score with Experian. Patricia CornwallonHudson, New YorkU.S.A.
