Fifth Third - Fifth Third Bank West Union Ohio
I sold some stuff on ebay and recieved a counterfit check. I didn't know so I deposited into my checking account with fifth third. I found out later that it was a fake check. I have been trying to work with them the best I can. Well I was approved for a couple of loans. Fifth third allowed them to go into my account. The first one was put in there on the 26th of October and I am yet to be able to get to my money. There is a million dollar hold on this account. I am being told there is also an indifinate hold on my account. I have a friend that works for fifth third and she said it only 20 days at the most for them to know if there is a problem with the direct deposits. In the mean while my electric and phone are about to be shut off. I have tried to contact the proper people to not get any where. I had the branch manager in the Manchester branch promise me that I would never get a dime out of my account. I guess he is holding true to his word. The funny part of it all is the orginal check that was fake for 3,000 they have taken it out of the direct deposite. But I can't touch a dime of my money. I can't get anyone to help me. I have money sitting in an account that I will never be able to touch. I have bills overdue and my van is broke down. I have money in the bank that I cant touch. This is a crock. I can't get any answers and the only one getting paid is the bank. Laura west union, OhioU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank Untrustworthy Bank Madison Ohio
Fifth Third Bank was served a subpoena by the Lake County Sheriff Department in November 2007 to provide information to the personal representative of an estate on a decedent there. A Fifth Third Bank branch employee informed the Probate Commissioner that the Branch couldn't provide the information because the custodian of record for the bank was their legal department. Subsequently, on December 13, 2007 and January 22, 2008 the Legal Department after reviewing the request for information pursuant to Indiana Code 29-1-13-1.1, electronically stored documents of deceased, refused to send the information to the personal representative of the estate of the decedent violating the sovereignty of the State of Indiana by ignoring it's laws and it's courts. The legal department stated that they could not do that because they employed the blame game, that is the branch stated that the corporate office was the custodian of record for the accounts and the corporate office stated that the branch was the custodian of record for the accounts. How dumb does this bank think the American Consumer is? The reason for the investigation into the accounts have been depleted amounts have been taken from the decedent accounts by Bank employees having been subject of a con. In order to conceal the con the bank has falsified records to conceal the theft of funds from bank accounts of the decedent. Fifth Third Bank is deceiving the public by representing that the integrity of bank accounts isn't a problem, however that of the decedent in this report have been tampered with for personal gain. It should be important to each reader that it will cost the estate money to force this bank to deal fairly with it account holders. How safe are your assets if you bank with Fifth Third? Keep this in mind when you deposit your money into this bank. Steven Eight Mile, AlabamaU.S.A.

5/3 Bank - Fifth Third Bank, Fifth Third Complaint, Internet
I had been a customer of Fifth Third Bank for approximately 8 years. The problem started when they froze my home equity loan. I had access to $50K in cash until and was ready to make an real estate purchase. I spoke with the lender at Firth Third and they things were set but then I got a letter in the mail saying my account had been frozen. Not such a big deal because a lot of banks were doing it at that time and I could simply switch to a new bank. However, they would not refund the $65 annual fee associated with the account I had just paid on the account. They would not even pro rate it or anything. Subsequently, I bounced a check inside an account where my home equity loan was the back up funds. Normally, if this would have happened it would have cost me $9.00 in a one time per transaction. Well I forgot that the account was closed and they ended up charging me $350+ dollars in fees. I verbally agreed to pay the two $39 charges and the two $9.00 overdraft charges and asked them to reconsider the remaining $260 in fees. I thought this was a reasonable request but the branch manager just let me know they would give me a $66 refund on the fees but that is all they could do.I told him to keep his $66. I was going to close my account and inform as many people as I could about the situation. If you stay with this bank or join this bank be prepared to be treated in a similar manner.

Fifth Third Bank excessive fees Burton Michigan
I opened my account at Fifth Third Bank because I was required to in order to take out a personal loan. I had only intended to use the account for purposes concerning this loan. Every time I tried to use the account for anything else, I had cronic problems with excessive fees. I would also like to say that I have had an account at Citizens bank for at least 10 years that I use as my regular checking account..I have direct deposit and pay all of my bills out of this account...and have had NO problems. I recently deposited a large amount of money into my account at Fifth Third that I wanted to keep separate to save for the summer while I would be off work. Well, times got tough and I needed to withdraw all of the money to use for bills. The ATM allowed me to pull of the money out of the account even though I still had pending transactions from the debit card attached to the account. Kind of my fault I guess but why did the ATM machine allow me to withdraw more money than what was available? So, I called the bank and she informed me that if I brought $23.06 to the bank and deposited it that she would take care of the rest of the fees and close the account for me since I was not happy. The next day she called me to let me know that there had been a miscalculation and I needed to deposit 5 cents, yes... 5 cents, in order to bring my account current so she could close it. So , I went the next morning to deposit the 5 cents and she wasn't in that day so I left it in an envelope on her desk with a note thanking her for her help. Boy was I wrong. I receive notice from them a couple of weeks later that my account is overdrawn $72! So, I called her and she informed me that since I had brought up the 5 cents the day after I talked to her instead of the same day, there was nothing more she could do to help me. I guess the thing that bothers me is that it is not money that they were forced to pay out for me because it was overdrawn, it is simply an excess of fees. As far as I am concerned, she did not follow through with what she told me to do and it is a big SCAM! I would like to see someone put Fifth Third Bank and all of their rude, lousy employees out of business. Danielle Burton, MichiganU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank ripoff Cincinati Ohio
I am writing this complaint because I see the same things happening to everyone reporting here. I too, have had the blessing of overdraft cost, but to the thanks of Fifth Third's Leasing Department. I had just received a bonus check that I intended to use for X-mas to the tune of about $700. I put this into my checking just before Thanksgiving. At this time I made my lease payment. Yes, I was late on the payment but I included the late fee(late by 11 days), without my knowledge the lease department took the payment out of my checking account. I ended up with $320. of overdrafts. When I found out about this 6 days later when I received a letter in the mail I went to my local office and was told we won't forgive any of the fees because they were within their rights to do this under their Taxpayer 2000 rule. So I contacted the Lease Dept. and they gave us alot of run around but finally agreed to credit our account for Dec. payment. then they told me I still owed a late fee for Dec. How can that be when the money was in their possession as of Nov. 21. It gets better because of all the run around we were having it was Dec. 8th and this late charge had to be paid that day or they would charge me a late fee on my late fee, Great! I know you can believe this because you all seem to be having as much fun as I am dealing with these people. I now tell everyone who asks me stay away from this bank and to ask a lot of questions when considering any banking institution. Kathy Grand Haven, MichiganU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank ripoff Kalamazoo Michigan
I have heard other complaints concerning Fifth Third Bank overdraft Rip-offs. I too have had rediculous overdraft fees charged to my checking account. I also have Overdraft Protection. I thought it was a wise thing to have until I was suddenly charged a total of $90 in fees for a $6.00 overdraft. I knew I had little money in my account, (which unfortunately is usually the case)but I also knew that I was not overdrawn. At the time I had 25.00 (unspoken for)in my account. When I called Fifth Third they told me that I was $1000 over limit and that they had deducted a $31.00 fee because of it. I feel they should have notified me of this long before I was this far overlimit. I also feel I should have been informed that there were penalties for overlimit and what the limit was when I agreed to sign up for the overdraft protection. I was told I would pay something like $10 a month for the protection, that's all. I wanted to close my account right away but didn't have the $1000+ to do so. I am currently $2000+ overlimit. I pay the monthly fees whenever I can but can never get under limit let alone pay the whole thing off so the fees just keep accumulating. Has anyone else had this problem? Fifth Third Bank Excessive overdraft Fees Dayton Ohio
Is it just me or does Fifth Third Bank expect the working man to bend over and smile. How can one business continuously rape the blue collar worker for excessive overdraft fees and the people who make this country run not be able to do anything about it? It says in the contract with Fifth Third that they have the option to take the highest amount pending from your account first, and they make a business out of exercising that option. The representative that I spoke with says this is because their the majority customers request it, from what I see, hear and read this doesn't seem to be true. The majority of their customers seem to be tired of giving their paychecks to a business who's practices are questionable. While the hardworking people of this country struggle to survive, Fifth Third Bank makes every effor to make that as difficult as possible. I asked one of the many reps that I have spoken with how they are able to do this job, how they can sleep at night while telling the people they deal with the garbage they have been program to spew. I finally figured that question out....They don't bank with Fifth Third! Puckfifththird Dayton, OhioU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank fraudulent billing Ripoff Lexington Kentucky
I leased a car through Fifth Third Bank in 1999 and returned the car in December 2003. Fifth Third Bank has told me at various times that I owe the property taxes on the vehicle for either 1999 (the first year of the lease) or for 2004 (the year after the lease terminated). I verified with the county clerk's office that I paid the taxes for 1999 and I turned the car in to a representative of Fifth Third Bank in December 2003. The county clerk's office verified that I am only responsible for the taxes for those years when the car was in my possession. I have provided Fifth Third Bank twice with the receipt for the car dated December 2003, yet they have persisted in their demand for the taxes. I have called the bank 6 times over the past 3 years and have explained the situation. Each time the bank representative have verified that I am not responsible for the taxes and have apologized and said that they would correct their records. I continue to get demands for the money and today received a letter from yet another collection agency offering to settle my account for 25% of the balance they say is due. Fifth Third Bank Bad Advice ripoff Lynchburg Ohio
Back in 2002 my wife opened an account, checking & debit, with Fifth Third in Lynchburg, Ohio. She had ordered a cell phone from Liberty Wireless in which they were authorized to take out $39.95. I read the website carefully. No other charges were mentioned. But suddenly we get a letter in the mail saying were overdrawn and that a $6.00 charge per day will be added till its payed. Plus the usual $29.95 overdraft & over the limit fees. So we go to the bank. They advised her to open up a new account. And just leave 1 penny in the old account in case they would return the money. She is on a fixed income. They now know she has no funds till next check. Yet they advise her to do this. We'd moved out to Rhode Island recently in 2005 to take care or help with her mother was ill. She passed away so we moved back to Ohio. When we tried to open an account seems 5th Third bank had both accounts listed as delinquet. Were they told us in 2002 they would remove and write off the rest since it was thier mistake. I had to go down to another 5th Third Bank to see what was going on. I asked when her 1st account went into overdraft and they new upon her word that Liberty Wireless was authorized but no one else was why they didn't do federal regulation E and close that account. Reverse the charges to T-Mobile. Who was not authorized. Liberty Wireless had handed my wifes order over to T-mobile with authorization and charged an additional $159.95 for the phone which was supposed to be free. 53 bank removed the one account as delinquet without admitting thier error then wanted her to open another account thier. But on the 2nd account she stilled owed. They wouldn't remove it. I asked the manager of the bank. What would she do if the same situation came up. She said she would probably do the same. I was like Ok. If my wife opens an account here they 1st intend to deduct from her check an amount of not her fault without telling her till its done. I said lets go. You owe this bank nothing. It was a free checking account. The 2nd account they ran into delinquecy on was thier fault because they charged $12.99 for checks on a free checking account without telling her. Then ran up the charges. Who do you bank with these days? We had good luck with Citizens Bank in Rhode Island. When problems like this occurred they fixed it instantly. No penalties on us. I wish all banks were like that. Seems most banks today are getting desperate and the staff not to well trained. Think before you make mistakes when buying online. But since your human it should be upto the bank to help you if you make a mistake. Seems many banks have it backwards. They lean towards the business's selling thinking its good business because thier bigger instead of protecting thier customers who actually are thier clients. Once the bank we chose saw they removed the one it was enough for us to get an account opened at another bank. But sheesh. Why didn't the bank admit to its mistake. We did. Ken Hillsboro, OhioU.S.A.

FIFTH THIRD BANK ripoff rip-offs CINCINNATI Ohio
I am a single mother who lost my job of 9 years to NAFTA. After I lost my job I had asked to get back my retirement so I could pay my bills. I have always paid my bills on time and even in advance. So when I recieved my retirement I turned around and sent it in with my coupons to my mortgage at FIFTH THIRD BANK. Thinking I was paying my payment ahead so that I didn't have to worry for a little while after lossing my job. I only got ripped off. Fifth third applied all my money to the princple and nothing to payments. Which now makes me look like I haven't paid plus I'm being forclosed on. They also messed up my annual mortgage statement by not appling anything to the interest leaving me with nothing to turn in on my taxes. As if that wern't bad enough they also applied a false 9,000.00 to the principle balance leaving me with a balance of only oweing almost 8,000.00 instead of the correct amont of 17,000.00. I've tried to be honest and straighten this out by sending them my cancelled checks proving that I made my payments but they refuse to talk to me and take on no blame to their selves, but only insist on trying to forclose on my house. I can only hope and pray for the turn out, but I know there is no hope. I sent them my retirement which is all I had so now I have no money to pay THEIR lawyers or to even try an get me one. I just wished that something could be done so that other people don't have to go through what they are putting me through. Linda SOMERSET, KentuckyU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank ripoff abused & mistreated Cincinnati Ohio
This is my complaint I have e-mailed Fifth Third Bank but never have received an answer. This is in regards to a car lease. It seems I made a mistake and signed a lease with Fifth Third Bank for a car for my son. His credit was not good enough to get it, soI did it for him. He had some bad luck and missed a couple payments, whichI eventually made up, but Fifth Third Bank was very nasty with me. They would call me morning, noon or night about this lease. They would call me at work. The one lady also asked to talk to the Personnel Department so she could guarantee my wages, which you know has to go through the courts first. To try to get the lease straightened out, I called the leasing department and all I would get is I cannot talk to you about your lease. It seems, the only time they would take to me was to harass me. I finally had to get a lawyer to straight it out. After is was straightened out, I started to make the payments myself which were all made on time. I, then, a couple of months ago, got a letter telling me that I was late and they wanted me to pay the entire car off. They probably tried to call and threaten me again, but could not reach me. We moved and they do not have the phone number or address. The mail is forwarded from my old address. I, again, had to get in touch with my lawyer because they would not talk to me again. The payments were not late. I have copies of the checks, which were cashed by Fifth Third Bank, and they still said I did not make the payments. My lawyer did get this straightened out again. This car has cost me a lot more than it is worth. It is finally time to turn it in. The car is in good shape and they better not try to charge me anymore. Fifth Third leasing department does not have a very good reputation. A gentlemen in our office went to turn in his car and had a lot of trouble. They said it would cost him one amount and then charged him another. He was not going to pay the greater amount and tried to talk to Fifth Third with no avail. They opened up a Visa for him without him knowing. That is against the law. Another girl is also having problems and her husband works for a car dealer. The dealership where he works will no longer go through 5/3 Leasing. That is 3 people in a small department. The people in our department will no longer do business with 5/3 Bank. Fifth Third leasing department is giving the bank a bad reputation. I will never set foot in Fifth Third Bank again. If I have more trouble when I turn this car in, I will take it to court. I have had it. Cornelia Temperance, MichiganU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank ATM Ripoff Cincinnati Ohio
On March 31st I went to an ATM located at 8075 Beechmont Avenue. This is a Fifth Third owned ATM that is not affilliated with a branch. I inserted my card and requested $400.00 from my checking account. The machine processed and as I thought my money was about to come out, it didn't. The receipt printed and showed a $400.00 cash withdrawl and an error message printed on the receipt. #103 Cash Dispense Error Detected. I immediately called the bank on my cell phone and confirmed that the system indeed showed a withdrawl in the amount of $400.00 from my account. They advised me that I would need to go to a branch to fill out an afadavit. I did so and was instructed that it would take 3 days to process. I was not pleased that I could not get my money the same day, but since I had no leverage, I was unable to convince them to help. I called my branch and asked to speak with the branch manager. She then advised me that it would take up to three weeks to complete an investigation. I told her that this was unacceptable and asked to escalate. She said she would try to see if she could get a conditional credit until the matter was resolved, which she did the next day. Today I was advised that after investigating Fifth Third would credit my account $340.00 because the machine was only over by that amount on that date. This is their final position. Fifth Third Bank stole $60.00 from me. They refuse to pull video of the transaction and will not consider the matter any further. I do not like to write these letters, but feel it is my only recourse. I have closed my account. Never at any time did I receive an apology or anything that sounded empathetic. This is a cold organization that makes tons of money and has very little regard for it's customers. Jere Cincinnati, OhioU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank See below Cincinnati Ohio
I signed for a car loan for my daughter. Due to a number of late payments she made, the matter was turned over to the Regional Adjustment Bureau. I received a notice dated August 1, 2007 that I was to pay $584.44, which was for the June and July payments of $159.02/mo., plus quite a bit of late fees. I called RAB and set up a plan wherein $300 was to be taken out of my account on August 15th, and the balance of $284.44 taken on the 23rd. I subsequently rec'd a letter from Fifth Third Bank that my August payment was past due and they were tacking on a late fee of $154.20, for a total of $313.22. I called them and indicated that I had paid the $284.44 on August 23; however it was apparently never taken out. I called RAB to find out what happened, and they said that after I paid the $300, Fifth Third Bank took the account back, so that payment was never made, and that it was returned to RAB on 9/27 for collection, and that I should call Fifth Third Bank to get it straightened out. I called Fifth Third Bank and they told me $313.22 was due b/c my August payment was never made. I explained to them what had happened and they said I needed to work it out with RAB as it was in collection. I explained RAB had referred me back to FTB. I asked to speak to a supervisor because I was NOT going to be paying any more additional late charges because as far as I was concerned, I made the payment. He said why don't I just take it to a local branch; I live in Milwaukee and there are NO branches here. I wanted to make the $284.44 payment, along with my September payment, as I had always paid by phone. I was told that because it was in collection they were not authorized to accept the payment over the phone. I then said I would just mail it to FTB, but again stated that I would not be paying any additional late fees, and that my check would be for $444.43 ($284.44 plus $160 for current payment). I have to wait til my daughter gives me the payment, so that is why is why it's usually a few days late (due on the 27th but have til the 5th of the following month) I find this whole operation very, very shoddy. I did what I had to do; the error was on their part as far as I was concerned. Thank you. Penny Milwaukee, WisconsinU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank ripoff racist thief Dayton Ohio
My sister in law and I went to Fifth Third Bank and opened a new account and the gentlemen who helped us made a lude comment in the lines of that we were gay. I believe a fraudgulent company got ahold of my account imformation because I have placed an internet order for a cell phone. It seemed like a scam after I submitted my imformation so feeling something was wrong I contacted my bank Fith Third and the Branch as well. Going back into the bank the same lude gentlemen thrown us out basicly because he couldn't help us. Calling the corporate office I recieved no help but the manager was nice but not helpful. Another incident happened where my niece went into the bank and made a deposit and the bank gave her my account imformation totally disregarding that she had no authority over my account. Also they charged me overdraft fees and my balance is still not accurate. Nothing has been done yet. Marilyn dayton, OhioU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank Robbed me Georgetown Ohio
My fiance and I live together and therefore, we use both our accounts to pay bills. Her account is at 5/3 Bank. We have lived together for 10 years and used this particular bank for 4 years now. My name is not on the account but for years i have deposited pay checks and other sources of income into her account both in person at the bank and through the ATM deposit using the Jeanie ATM and her debit card. One of these income sources is a check I get monthly for a small percentage of a buisness. I have received this check for around 6 years. We have deposited this check into 5/3 Bank almost every month, as we use her account to write the checks for the bills, and I deposit my share into her account to cover them. Last week we went down to the Jeanie after work to make a deposit of this particular months check because it was past regular banking hours. We have done this hundreds of times before. The balance showed up immediatly and 100 dollars of it was immediatly available, as usual. We went home and the next day we began writing our bills. Today, we found the check we had deposited in an envelope in the mail from 5/3 Bank. They decided after 4 years of accepting this with no comment whatsoever that they were not going to accept it because it isnt in her name, although she did also sign the check and was present when we deposited it along side myself. They told us we must do this in person from now on and informed us that they do not have to make us aware of these changes ahead of time. They used this excuse to bounce about 6 transactions and of course, hit me with a 33 dollar fee for each. I feel as if I have been robbed at gunpoint!! Ken Georgetown, OhioU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank Destroyed our livelihood!!!! Orlando Florida
Just want to let people know just how bad and desperate Fifth Third Bank really is. When the economy was good, they were very happy to convince my husband and partners that they would be happy to provide the funding needed for their company. The moment things turned, they pulled their financing and forced them to close the doors. It didnt matter that the company never made a late payment and was up to date with the bank - they did it anyway and with no notice !!! I think banks like this should be put out of business too !!!! Pull your money out of this place before they take it from you like they did to us and our employees. They have no conscience and they do not care about anyone but themselves !!! I would love to sue them for 6x what they took from us and share it with all the people in our company that they hurt. There should be laws against banks that do business like this !! Fifth Third Bank ATM Problem! Chicago, Illinois
Let me start off by saying I have never complained on an internet message board and never plan on doing it again, but this is ridiculous. I am a member of Fifth Third Bank and recently visited the closest ATM to my office to take out money that I needed to the sum of $400. When I finalized my request I heard a lot of activity in the machine but nothing happened.  Finally it spit out a receipt that was clearly much different than any other I have ever encountered and never dispensed any funds. I stood there and waited because I wasn't about to let the next person get lucky and have my $400.  Finally I decided to give it another try and requested $100.  This time it worked and gave me a proper receipt and 5 20 dollar bills.  I got back to my office and checked my statement and was shocked to see that I was charged $500 for the $100 in cash that I was actually given.  So I walked back to the ATM and dialed the number on the machine and it never once rang. I called Fifth Third Bank who said they would look into it for me.  After not hearing anything for 24 hours I called back and was then told the transaction was still pending so I had to wait until it cleared.  24 hours later I'm told that now I can dispute it but it will take 10-30 days to be resolved. So now, best case scenario is that I am without $400 from my account until they resolve their mistake?!  I do realize that they can't just credit my account because not everyone is honest, however, this can't be the best way to handle the situation.  If the bank can bill me for not having funds in my account when money is withdrawn (overdraft fees), why aren't the banks held responsible when they don't have the money to provide to their customers?!

FIFTH THIRD BANK OVERDRAFT HELL CLEVELAND Ohio
I have had the overdraft nightmare with them as well. After talking to their customer service reps, who said they would credit my account the fees, I had over 200.00 bounce on me for they didn't recredit my account. I have direct deposit, which hit my account before the charges upon it, but they of course, took the money and bounced stuff. When I spoke to them, they said that since I swiped my card, as a credit card, even though the charges were just pending, it is considered an overdraft. Then, when I went thru the transactions with their customer service rep, she was trying to explain why I was charged twice for the same transaction. After arguiing incessantly with her, she said my account would be credited. Which it was at one point, but directly taken back out by them in the following transaction. I thought I was the only one having this problem with this bank. I am a single Mom, and it is hard enough trying to exist, without these fees accumulating and eating up my paycheck. I am interested in a suit as well. They lied to me, and then kept taking money. And why is it they can take money, but to notify you it takes 7 days to get something in the mail from them, telling you they are doing this? Meanwhile, their fees continue? Fifth Third Bank Lost Automatic Withdrawal Fifth Third Bank took from my Wachovia account. Cincinnati Ohio
It is hard to believe that a bank would hire such irresponsible individuals who refuse to acknowledge they have received a payment, even though Wachovia did a three-way call and sent a statement to them to verify their withdrawal. Fifth Third Bank withdrew my equity loan payment on July 2, 2008. They are still unable to trace this transaction. They continue to harass me by calling me several times a day. They are a very rude group of individuals. However, it is almost time to make another payment. I am afraid they will lose this payment, too. Hopefully, I will be able to refinance with another bank, soon. Betty Cumming, GeorgiaU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank, Fifth Third Bank Looses another payment Cincinnati Ohio
My mortgage payment is due on the first of every month and like many I get paid on the first and fifteenth day of the month. I wrote the check on February 1 and put it in the mail with several other bills. I had to travel out of town for a couple weeks and was not home to receive phone calls or read mail. Therefore I did not receive any notification from Fifth Third until after the bill was just over 31 days late. Firth Third is insistent on reporting my 30 day late bill to the credit reporting agencies. Seems that either the United States Postal Service lost my payment or Fifth Third did. In 25 years of bill paying, I can't remember the USPS loosing a bill, but I have caught banks screwing up! My bet is my payment was received by Fifth Third, just Fifth Third did not process it. Looking around at other postings here on ripoffreport.com I noticed two other statements (0308642 and 0308569) submitted on 02/13/2008 that state a similar complaint to mine. Statistically speaking this is a significant quality control issue. There are other complaints of payments being posted several days after being received. Oddly enough I received another collections phone call from Fifth Third Bank after I reissued a check for the pervious months past due payment and the current month payment. I see one of the two checks I presented to Fifth Third on March 3 cleared my bank on March 5, the other check has not cleared. Both checks were presented at the same time to the same teller (I have the dated time stamped receipt). With the speed of computers and the communications infrastructure wouldn't you think Fifth Third could be a little more on top of things? I tried to talk with some banking people at Firth Third and they didn't really seem to care about my situation, they just wanted the money. My credit score is in the upper 700's and you don't get that score by making people chase you for money. No one even offered any solution to prevent this from happening again. For the $1,000 in interest they receive from me a month, one would think I could get a little customer service. Maybe Fifth Third would try to sell me more services than just this mortgage. Fifth third you missed an opportunity to shine! This is the address to Fifth Third collection department in case you want or need to complain: Fifth Third Bank Cincinnati Kevin Kabat Office of the President 38 Fountain Square Place Cincinnati, OH 45263 John Commerce, MichiganU.S.A.

Fifth Third Bank Fifth Third Bank, Worst Auto lender I have ever dealt with. Cincinnati Ohio
OK, so here's my story. I have never missed a single payment on my auto loan with Fifth Turd Bank. What happened is I switched insurance companies. There was a small lapse in coverage of about a month or so. They contacted me stating that because I didn't have coverage they were forcing me to get their coverage which costed about $3700/yr. I laughed at them, sent them proof of my current coverage and went on my merry way. Then, after a few months passed, they started contacting me saying I was $270 behind on my payment. I was confused as I hadn't missed any payments. It took about two weeks of talking to about a dozen different (and I might add quite rude and incompetent) people to figure out that they were charging me a prorated amount of ~$700 for the lapse in coverage. Fine, I didn't argue the point and gladly started to pay the higher payment for my oversight on my insurance. They said they added this amount to my monthly payment over the next ten months, starting four months earlier, which was the $270 past due. Now, I know i can never portray to you just how difficult it was to get this information, but let me tell you, it was a HUGE debacle as NO one there had any clue as to what was going on. By the time I was FINALLY told why I owed money, my account was in collections and they were threatening to repo the vehicle on a daily basis. Now remember, to this point I had never missed a payment nor under-payed (at least not my normal payment). So I had to literally yell to get a supervisor on the line just so that they would take my account back from the collections agency so that they could talk to me at all. After it finally got back from the collections agency I requested a deferment of the past due amount of $270 since I didn't have that extra money to pay on top of the $600 payment I was already making. They said sure, just make this month's payment and we'll defer that past due amount. I paid the current payment THAT DAY at a branch. Never got my deferment. Now its back with collections and threats are flying as usual. I'm in the process of filling out paperwork to refinance the loan with another lender, and will never deal with Fifth Third Bank again for any type of business. Good Job guys, your rude and incompetent employees and suspect billing practices causes you a PR black eye. Good bye and good riddance. Mike Mchenry, IllinoisU.S.A.
