The information provided in this report below is based on comments made by Jason Spencer during an onsite inspection held by a third-party verification company with no biases towards Student Loan Relief. Student Loan Relief is a company that assists people with the complicated ordeal of getting student loan forgiveness or significant payment reduction. Jason M. Spencer stated the following about his company, It’s not necessarily the idea of getting them to go away or anything like that...it is making it more comfortable utilizing the programs that they could qualify for but don’t know about and will probably never know about. Because none of the companies involved or US Governments who create them, lets anyone know. Leads for Student Loan Relief are obtained via word of mouth. They've never done any marketing. Mr. Spencer went on to express the sales process for individuals interested in their services, we either call them or they call us. Then you get to know them a bit, ask them a series of questions that would get them qualified that we get them into certain programs and interview them. The person interviewing them would pass that information to researchers and they would decide which programs to get them into. The customer would get a proposal showing this is where you are - this is what we can offer you, do you want to work with us? If they wanted to move forward they could sign on the dotted line. It is an agreement, it puts everything on paper, and explains that we aren’t making any promises and you don’t pay us until we get that done. CUSTOMER CARE & COMPLAINT RESOLUTION – STUDENT LOAN RELIEF During the on-site interview, Mr. Spencer was asked to describe a situation where a client was not satisfied with the level of service they received. Mr. Spencer expressed that they rarely receive complaints due to their willingness to go above and beyond for their clients. He went on to describe a situation where they took on a client who was already in default. They were able to lower her payments to a manageable fee and ensure that if she made 11 consecutive payments the defaulted loan would be removed from her credit report. Since they had never taken on a client already in default they had they had some hiccups along the way, but were ultimately able to assist their client, maybe we weren't flawlessly perfect, but it was a trail, we did another one, but it was a trial run for someone who was in default. When asked to comment on complaints posted on Ripoff Report's website Mr. Spencer expressed that the complaints were made by an ex-employee, The ex-employee lied about all his competencies and credentials and he was actually working for a competitor. This is all verifiable, I think I uploaded his actual resume that he has on Indeed.com onto Ripoff Report. But, he was actually a plant, working for the competitor. This ex-employee was under the impression that he had a contract with Student Loan Relief that would guarantee him a position. However, when the ex-employee presented what he considered to be a contract the first line stated: This agreement can be canceled by either party any time for any reason. Which essentially negates the ex-employee’s argument. When asked what type of changes they have made to honor their commitment to making things right with the consumer per the request of Ripoff Report, Mr. Spencer expressed that since the comments were made by an employee their company now documents everything. He additionally stated, one thing I am sure to make clear to everyone is that you are not an NFL or NBA player - this is not a contract. I just make sure that people know that if you don’t show up to work - there is no guaranteed pay. We also do a lot more verifying of resumes instead of just trusting them. Mr. Spencer expressed that they rarely receive complaints due to their willingness to go above and beyond for their clients. He went on to describe a situation where they took on a client who was already in default. They were able to lower her payments to a manageable fee and ensure that if she made 11 consecutive payments the defaulted loan would be removed from her credit report. Since they had never taken on a client already in default they had they had some hiccups along the way, but were ultimately able to assist their client, maybe we weren't flawlessly perfect, but it was a trail, we did another one, but it was a trial run for someone who was in default. When asked to comment on complaints posted on Ripoff Report's website Mr. Spencer expressed that the complaints were made by an ex-employee, The ex-employee lied about all his competencies and credentials and he was actually working for a competitor. This is all verifiable, I think I uploaded his actual resume that he has on Indeed.com onto Ripoff Report. But, he was actually a plant, working for the competitor. This ex-employee was under the impression that he had a contract with Student Loan Relief that would guarantee him a position. However, when the ex-employee presented what he considered to be a contract the first line stated: This agreement can be canceled by either party any time for any reason. Which essentially negates the ex-employee’s argument. Consumer Advisory: Student loan debt relief companies may cost you thousands of dollars and drive you further into debt By Rohit Chopra Today we took action to put an end to two student loan debt relief scams that illegally tricked borrowers into paying upfront fees for federal loan benefits. In a joint filing with Florida’s Attorney General, we shut down student loan debt relief company College Education Services and, separately, we filed a lawsuit against Student Loan Processing.US for running illegal debt relief services. We allege that both companies exploited vulnerable student loan borrowers, made false promises about their debt relief services, and charged illegal upfront fees. We are warning all student loan borrowers who have trouble managing their student debt to watch out for scams run by companies promising “student debt relief.” These companies prey on distressed borrowers who run into trouble and struggle to figure out what comes next. In some cases, borrowers do not think their student loan servicers can help them and seek help from a third party. Others are lured in by aggressive marketing practices that target the most vulnerable student loan borrowers. In many cases, these companies promise thousands of dollars in savings on your student debt by falsely claiming special expertise or a relationship with the Department of Education, only to enroll you in a payment plan that’s available for free for all borrowers with federal student loans — all at a cost of hundreds of dollars or more. In other cases, these companies fail to deliver on their promises, leaving you with more debt and less time to avoid financial distress or default. Last year, we warned you that you don’t have to pay someone to help with your student loan. You should also be aware of these warning signs to help you avoid student loan debt relief scams and information on getting help if you are a victim of this scam. Warning signs that a student loan debt relief company may be trying to rip you off: Pressure to pay high up-front fees. It can be a sign of a scam when a debt relief company requires you to pay a fee up-front or tries to make you sign a contract on the spot. These companies may even make you give your credit card number online or over the phone before they explain how they’ll help you. Avoid companies that require payment before they actually do anything, especially if they try to get your credit card number or bank account information. Not only is free assistance available through your student loan servicer, many times taking payment for debt relief services before providing help is illegal. Promises of immediate loan forgiveness or debt cancellation. Debt relief companies do not have the ability to negotiate with your creditors for a “special deal” under these federal student loan programs. Payment levels under income driven payment plans are set by federal law and, for most borrowers, loan forgiveness is only available through programs that require many years of qualifying payments. Demands that you sign a “third party authorization.” You should be wary if a company asks you to sign a “third party authorization” or a “power of attorney.” These are written agreements giving them legal permission to talk directly to your student loan servicer and make decisions on your behalf. In some cases, they may even step in and ask you to pay them directly, promising to pay your servicer each month when your bill comes due. Requests for your Federal Student Aid PIN. Be cautious about companies that ask for your Federal Student Aid PIN. Your PIN — the unique ID issued by the U.S. Department of Education to allow access to information about your federal student loans — is the equivalent of your signature on any documents related to your student loan. If you give that number away, you are giving a company the power to perform actions on your student loan on your behalf. Honest companies will work with you to come up with a plan and will never use your PIN to access your student loan information. How to get help Submit a complaint online or call us at (855) 411-2372 if you have been the victim of a student loan debt relief scam or if you are getting runaround from your student loan servicer. You should also instruct your student loan servicer that they should only provide information about your student loan directly to you. I am completely sickened and sad that this just happened to me. I had a gut feeling to look this company up AFTER my transaction was completed. They fooled me. The man, his name was Corey, sounded legit in his lingo and said all the right words. I thought he was able to refinance my student loans for $199.00/month but as I just read this was all a scam. Now it appears this company will be taking $199/month for the next 3 months and I don't know what to do about it. This company appears as if they are working in direct conjunction with the Department of Education. They are not. They are just stealing from you. I don't even know if anything at all has happened with my student loans. I live paycheck to paycheck and thought this was a Godsend I had stumbled upon, a way of helping make my life easier...I was apparently wrong. Why do people have to do this type of thing? It's just cruel and unnecessary.

 Student Loan Relief Center is charging unsuspected consumers $597.00 in three (3) monthly installments of $199.00. The services it provides is misleading at a minimun and intents to leave the consumer believing it will obtain approval from the Department of Education (DOE) for an application sumitted by its company (SLRC), that any person who can read and write on an 8th grade level can complete. The most it will cost you to sumbit your own application to DOE is (1) the time you spend looking your information up at http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/ - this site shows you all of your loans, and (2) a postage stamp. The application itself is self-explainatory to the point where even if you are not certain if all your student loans qualify ( which most all do), a representative at DOE will enlighten you. At the end of the day, the Federal government simply wants to know if you intend on paying back your student loans. Providing borrows a consoldiated method to lessen the burden of trying to keep track of when payments are due (I had 34 differnt loans with 8 lenders in excessive of $166K over the course of my pursuit of higher education) is the essence of a consolidation at the government did not intend to put additional financial burden on students wishing to consolidate. James Jamir scams clients, and also scams employees, student loan consolidations are a joke, they have laid off all the employees without paying them the last paycheck, also never gets back to clients. The owners are always smoking weed outside of a tile factory that they think they are a legitimate business. I got laid off last week and now i found out they cannot even afford to pay me my draw for working there.   Richard Le is also a drug addict who helps James Jamir with this scam and is now opening a new company in Tustin, CA which i have found the address, every client they have signed up they never helped at all, they always said who cares don't call them back. I warn you as a previous employee here he will take the clients money and start up new companies and won't pay any employees. Please be warned the new company name is Americas Student Debt Relief and the address is 2913 E Camino Real Ste#701, Tustin CA. please do not do any business with them as they will not help any clients and when they laid everyone off they didn't pay them. Agents repeat questions at various times throughout the process so that they ensure that the clients understand what is happening. The Company has a system that keeps tracks of when clients were last contacted, what has been discussed, where they stand in their relationship and so that agents can build off that information in their follow-up. The company outlines their complaint process as a series of escalations through the various levels of management. When there is a more serious complaint, it goes directly to the highest level of management. They have a complaint policy written into the welcome package that is sent to clients. The complaint will go through an agent, team lead, supervisor, department manager and then to the VP of operations. They take complaints seriously, maintain compliance with TSR and want happy clients. They have updated talking scripts and they have implemented a new system of ongoing training with an emphasis on a strong foundation. National Debt Relief / Customer Service Excellence When asked to provide a specific example of a situation where a client was not satisfied with the level of service they received, this is what Mr. Rice had to say: There was one situation where a man was working with one of our agents. In one of their four calls, it was discovered that there were 4 charges that the man did not want to include in the debt settlement. The agent could have done a better job of explaining why the charges had to be included, but the man was upset. In a follow up call, the man basically ‘stiff-armed’ our agent and said he did not want to continue with our service. The agent thought the call was over so he said ‘Good Luck’ and hung up. This infuriated the man. A complaint was filed and our agent’s supervisor spoke with the man. He did a great job, apologized and the consumer said ‘Thank you. About a week later, we received a BBB complaint, which was grossly exaggerated. In response to this complaint, we simply turned over our evidence. We have all of the calls recorded and there was already an internal record of this situation. In the end, it isn’t about being right. I was given a referal by a Co-worker of mine to call a Student Loan advocate to get on one of the many Obama Student Loan Relief programs. My co-worker gave me a number of a man by the name, Jospeh Edwards. I proceeded to call him shortly after. Even with a degree in Criminal Justice I should have known better, but because of the amount of student loans that I current have I wanted to take action as soon as possible. When I got in contact with Jospeh Edwards, like any con-man he very keen and insistant upon about providing his services for the sake of saving me money. Keep in mind, I had not done my homework to know that there are serveral programs out there for different suitations and income levels. Jospeh Edwards only spoke to me about the income based repayment plan where you pay the same amount each month(unless you income changes) and after 10yrs. whatever is left of the remaining balance will be ratified and you will owe nothing. Sounds good right! sign me up. Joseph said that I need to make a down payment on my account so I can show the student loan people that I was serious about paying off my loan and so that he could get started on my account. Jospeh gave me an amount of $692 and told me that was based of the kind of plan that I have and so I gave him my acct information and decided to do a one time payment as supposed to several over the course of a month.Flag #1. He asked for my entire SSN# instead of the last four numbers like most accredited debt collectors. But again I gave it to him because my co-worker said she had just started paying back her loans. Next he asked for my birthday and said your last name is ***** right and I said yes.Flag #2. He asked for my mother's maiden name and at the time I thought, that sounds like a security question but again I gave it to him. After pulling up my information, Informs me that I have 10 different student loans the total amount and said that I was in default. Jospeh then took some income information and said he was calculating a possible amount for a payment plan.Flag #3. Jospeh explained to me what would happen if I didn't get out of default. He said that he needed to apply for my debt consolidation loan as soon as possible so my account can get out of default and I can rebuild my Credit. Joseph told me that garnishment was about to happen and that they can take up to 40% of your income and that's when I told him that I thought in the state of Michigan it was 15%? and he replied, yeah, anywhere from 15 to 40%!!!!!!!That's when I knew something was really wrong. Later on in the privacy of my own home I beganto do my research about the different debt relief programs. I did not know about studentloanhelpdirect.com/disclaimers.html and realized that the man by the name of Jospeh Edwards was not actually a Certified and Professional student loan debt relief account customer service rep from an accredited student loan vendor but was actually a person off the street who entered in my account info on studentloans.gov which is the national database for those whom have ever taken out a student loan!!!!!!! This complete stranger that I knowingly gave all of my information to simply logged on to the site that most people don't even know about, and was going to apply for a student consolidation loan and or program pretending to be me!I am asking for a refund in the amount of $692 because upon going unto StudenLoads.gov I immediately signed up for a consolidation loan.The Second thing I did was send who I've come to know as Joseph Edwards an email informing him that I no longer require his services as I have already completed a student loan consolidation loan on my own behave. Not only did I recieve any form of acknowlegdement and I have tried to contact the number from which I have directly to him on and it goes to a pre-recorded message that says to call the main number and simply leave a message and someone will get back with me. I have also tried to call a woman by the name of sarah who has left me voicemails asking me to sign the electronic pen and her number goes to her voice mail.I understand that I gave him my bank info that same day and it was electronically processed. I all want is for the sum total of $692.00 transferred back into my account. I know that him nor anyone in this agency perfrom, start or complete any task, job, and or payment plan on my behalf because I did not give Him nor any of his contituents a copy of my Tax Return nor did I sign the electronic pin with my signiture agreeing to pay for any of the services that he provided.  I did not sign anything giving him nor anyone else the authorization to file for a consolidation loan and or repayment plan in my place and on my behalf.

I decided to go back to school to better myself in September 2001. I joined up with Allentown Business School (ABS) aka Lehigh Valley College. I was rushed through the financial paperwork and was told if I didn't sign right away, I wouldn't be able to stay in school (every time I had to fill out financial papers, I was told this). I needed a co-signer for Sallie Mae loans, so I got one. Now I have this tremendous pressure to pay back the loans that keep going up, no matter how much I pay them. My original loan started out as $4258.00. I paid so far, $666.54 and I still owe $5,343.89. Seems weird that when I pay them , my amount that I owe goes up instead of down. One time I paid the amount due plus all the capitalized interest. The very next day, the capitalized interest was over $20 already. And the capitalized interest goes up every single day. I was never informed of any of this type of interest when I was rushed to sign the loan papers. I was told to sign them quickly so I could stay in school. My dream was to better myself. Big joke!! The automated calls prompt the people (victims) to push a certain number on the phone to be connected to so0called consultants. But the consultants are just a bunch of telemarketing theives who con the victims into giving their social security number, original loan pin number, credit card info, etc., only to have their accounts and identities wiped out within hours.There is no student loan debt relief. This company lies and manipulates in order to gain the victims personal info and to commit identity theft and to wipe out their entire savings withing hours.Be very aware of this scam company. I called this company to enquire about their service to apply for a student loan repayment plan. The first thing, they made me sign a contract over the phone for $1850 for the filing fee, then started asking about SSN for me and my wife but when I refused to give them the SSN for my wife, they said they could not do it without and i will not be charged any money as they could not apply for me. They are right that they have to have the SSN but untill this day they try to collect the money from me even though I applied for myself and did not use their service. I contacted the company plenty of times and few of the times I was able to get hold of them and they confirm that i do not owe any balance and the next week someone from there shows up asking for the debt. I sent the a legal letter to request proof of debt, they returned the envelop back claiming that it could not be forwarded. If you have a similar situation with them, you need to compain to BBB, consumerfinance.gov and take them to a small claims court because they are not going to leave you alone.

They'll continue to mention the Department of Education, like they were hired by them, and FedLoan like they're Best Buds. Don't believe the hype, they'll sound knowledgable, but they aren't seeking your best interest at all. All you need to do is pay two upfront fees $299 the 1st month and $199 the 2nd month, and after that only $30 a month for about 25 years (what you they sway you to believe are your loan payments). Now if you have a decent amount of student loan debt this saving grace appears to be Heaven sent, but once you realize what you're actually paying for you'll be mad as Hell! They ask for your banking info (routing/checking account number), but settle for the debit card number to automatically lock in the payments, because who actually knows that info anyway. Sad thing is by this point in the comversation your so relieved to finally have your student loan situation in order, you're willing to do just about any and everything! Richie and Jacob charmingly sway you into freely handing over All your most valuable personal information (social security number, FSA ID/Pin & Challenge Questions, Birthdate, Tax Return, Paystubs, and anything else you decide to throw in the deal to save yourself from swimming in student loan debt). They have you sign terms of service agreements electronically, and set you up with your own account to monitor your loan situation Price Media Group is the name affiliated with that site. In talking they explain and explain all you have to do is make that $299 and $199 payment and you're set at $30 a month. Each year if your income situation changes and you earn more the price may jump, but only a little bit in Richies words The sad truth is nothing you pay in their agreement Actually goes to relieving your student loan debt, everything goes to them including the $30 a month for 25+ years for them to buy beer and anal beads for each other. Word of advice don't buy the Scam! Don't give out your FSA ID over the phone, and don't believe these Orange County scammers who claim to consolidate your $60,000 plus student loans into $30 monthly payments for 25 years, claiming the government will forgive the rest. That's straight BS and it doesn't even Add Up! I was looking for a way to repay my student loans and saw Federal Student Loan Alliance online which seemed interesting and worth a try. After talking to Paul, I was assured that I would receive a better loan repayment plan, less interest and have loan balances forgiven. Of course, it was too good to be true and I did not want to give out my credit card number but I was assured that I could get my money back. After putting my loans into forbearance, something I did not want to do, I was unable to ever speak to this Paul person ever again. No calls or emals returned. I was given to another person to work with finally, she told me she could consolidate my loans. I told her they were already consolidated! I demanded my money back. Now they are claiming I am a difficult client (something I see a lot with their rebuttals) and basically that I did not pay the amount I did and they indeed help my loans, which they did not. It was a joke working with them, they knew nothing of my situation, they only called when they wanted a payment and they even charged me for a maintenance fee when there was nothing to maintain. I reveiwed them online and was called and basically harassed and the BBB report rebuttal is unture as well. Stay away!!!! Places like this are taking advantage of us students who try to better our lives with education. It's terrible and sad but please listen to these warnings. You can do consolidation yourself and if something seems too good to be tru, it IS.

Literacy Repair Services/Student Loan Resolutions/Charles Harper Harassed me and used profanity when I didn't want to use his company!! Internet
 I wanted to learn more about student loan debt forgiveness. Mr. Harper contacted me a few times via text and email. I explained to him that I am pregnant and have been really sick but I would get back to him when I could. Something seemed off about our conversation so I decided to look up the company he said he worked for. Originally said he worked for Student Loan Resolutions and when I looked it up, there were some questionable reports out there on the company.I decided not to follow up with him and when he contacted me again I simply stated I was no longer interested. He replied with, Why not don't you want to see if you can save money on your loans instead of acting sick? I was so offended, I told him I would report him if there was anyone to speak to but his company is a joke. I then told him not to contact me anymore.He continued to send multiple messages to me, Listen b***** you don't tell me what to do I cary the ball sack aroud here, and just so you know your mother was a joke when she had you. Make sure you check who you are working with when it comes to student loan recovery! Scary people out there and now this guy has all my contact information.

Windham Professionals Windham Pros - student loan repayment. Fraudulent Salem New Hampshire
I have approx 20K in student loans in default. I hadn't had any correspondence from the collection agency who now owns my debt, Windham Professionals, in several years. Out of the blue, I receive a call from a Windham rep (again, 3 or 4 years since any contact) asking me to pay the loan in full. I negotiated a payment of $125/month. This negotiation came with some amount of hassle. I asked to fill out an Income & Expenses form - they denied me that, saying it was unnecessary and kept insisting on their unreasonable payment. Finally, when push came to shove and I basically told them to accept my offer or begin the garnishment process which I will in turn challenge through the appropriate channels, the agreed to my terms. I then asked for a and EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer authorization document) and the rep told me that they do not operate this way - they operate on verbal authorization, which I gave, albeit with some amount of reservation. Now, a month later, after Windham has already made the first of the scheduled monthly withdrawals of $125.00, the same Windham rep just left me a voice mail telling me that we really need to get this thing squared away or the wage garnishment process will begin. What gives? I have been reading volumes of complaints about this collection agency on the internet, people accusing their collection attempts of being scams, etc. What should I/can I do now to ensure that I have not stepped into some sort of a scam, and that I am truly paying toward my student loan. Is this collection agency authorized to garnish my wages to collect on these defaulted federal (EdFund) loans? Should I be wary of this situation? Chris h. Huntington Beac, CaliforniaU.S.A.

My hopeful relative with only a GED and no financial backing investigated schools online and was talked into a wonderful fantasy of fashion design with almost immediate admittance and funding through Federal grants and loans and private student loans.The promised jobs and further funding never materialized. Loans were used for a necessary high end computer, books, tuition, and living expenses.On incompletion of the school year, the student was left with no degree, no job, and a pile of student debt that will haunt her almost forever and will in all likelihood will not be repaid. All the cards were stacked against her. I'm sure the admissions person got a commission on her entrance to the school and I would like to know if the school had ties with the private bank that issued the loan(s).An involved relative, Massachusetts
