On March 1, 2006 we contracted with Jason Michaels to move our goods from San Diego to Joplin. We paid him a $2,636.92 deposit. After that date I was unable to reach him by phone or email, so I faxed a letter cancelling his services on May 22nd. Later that day he called me and assured me that he had everything arranged as we had discussed. I wanted a guaranteed pickup date, which was another reason I had sent the letter cancelling his services, but Jason assured me of the following:

Our pickup date would be Monday June 12th.

Our goods would go straight into a semi-truck and move directly to Joplin. They would not be re-loaded into another truck.

Our move would be separate from my sister and brother in law's. I did not want our goods mixed in the same trucks.

The movers were already lined up and ready to go on the 12th, AND his quality assurance department would get in touch with us within a few days.

The quality assurance department never called. Jason did not return over 25 phone messages and emails. He did not answer over 75 calls placed to him over a 4 week period. I have proper records of all of these calls. He actually called us back on accident on 2 occasions only to hang up when he realized who he was speaking to. Our call records show there was a purposeful will on your part to avoid any contact with us regarding the coming problems with this move.

The movers did not show up on June 12th. I returned from my family vacation to our home and waited all morning for them, with no return phone call from Jason, Customer Service or Dispatch.

When Olympic Movers finally showed up on June 13th he revealed that you told them the 13th would be just fine since Olympic could not get there any sooner! Olympic Movers were provided grossly underestimated and incorrect information about our move, consequently there were unprepared.

Our goods were packed into bob-tail trucks (no semi as promised) and our goods were mixed with my sister and brother in law's good (contrary to the promise from Jason). Olympic was told that this was ONE move, they had no idea there were two households. Our goods were then trucked to Los Angeles and repacked into a semi. This added over $5,000 of extra expense which had to be paid by us prior to delivery of our goods.

The most frustrating part of this entire nightmare is that Jason assured me he could handle this, but he purposely avoided any contact with us even though he knew ahead of time there would be major problems with this move. He lied to us, and to Olympic Movers which made the problem worse. I believe this is the way your company normally does business. Your call system allows you to systematically screen calls to avoid problems. Before you try to tell me this is an isolated occurrence I can tell you that we have already spoken with multiple other parties who have received even worse service from your company.

I am demanding the return of my complete deposit to my address below by August 1, 2006. Your negligence and unsavory business practices have caused us to incur over $5,000 of additional, unnecessary moving expenses. The only way to resolve this to return our complete deposit.

Relocation and Storage

AUTHOR: Deb - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Robert,
this same company took my $4300 cashiers check and never showed up for the move.

the last contact of any kind i had with R&S or with Jason Michaels, my sales rep was on 20 June 2006. Each time i called, i was sent through a voice mail loop that never ended. And none of my messages were ever returned.

I have filed complaints with the Texas BBB, the FTA, the FMCSA, the AG of Texas and the TXDOT. R&S still has my money.

Olympic Movers (Mr. Brett Chilton) was contacted by R&S to do my move but Mr. Chilton refused claiming he had not been paid for the previous three jobs he did for R&S.

Mr. Bruce responded to the BBB complaint stating they did not do my move (true), that they gave me an estimate (true), and that no monies had been collected from me (false). Even though i clearly state in my complaint about the cancelled cashiers check endorsed "for deposit only Relocation and Storage" and an account number, Mr. Bruce did not address that issue.

Olympic Movers no angels, please contact Texas AG and FMCSA

AUTHOR: Sharon - (U.S.A.)

Robert, Olympic Movers has their own history if scam complaints. They could have just told you that R&S neglected some information.

However, I think you should file a complaint about R&S with both the FMCSA and the Texas Attorney General. Their license number is MC527421, which you will need for the FMCSA complaint, found at protectyourmove dot gov
