I unfortunatly had to use there services, I have 4 items with this company. 2 used and 2 new.. or so they say! My payments are due on Saturday, at 9:01am (if i'm lucky) they start calling to remind me that my payment is due... If you don't answer they will call you up to 23 times in one day. I have never been more than 2 days late but I have had them harrass the hell out of my and my contacts. The manager of the store will not talk to me anymore because I called him a liar and a fat a*s, I told them what they were doing is harassment and I was reporting them. Life happens and 1-2 days late is nothing, 23 times in a day is stalking. The crap I bought from them isn't worth this... don't give them your business... they will suck you in and then you are trapped.... Just go without, or look at garage sales...

Kristie, I work for RAC, and I'm sorry to read about your bad experience and want to recommend a few things.
1st)  Call the corporate Customer Service line at 800-422-8186 and let them know about the repeated calls. Being called that many times within a single day (even if you're late) is against policy and shouldn't be happening.

2nd) Do whatever you need to do to make sure your payments are on time for several weeks in a row and then request the store not make the reminder calls on the day your payment is due. (And again, if you've been paying on time, the store should honor this.) And keep those payments on time. This would mean you wouldn't have to talk with the people at that store at all. And since you've called the manager a fat a*s and a liar, it sounds like that's the best route.

I saw another person post that on a weekly contract that 1-2 days late is a bigger deal, and actually, that's correct. At RAC, you don't need credit or big down payments, but you have to pay on time-- that's the only catch.

I really hope w/help from customer service you can get things going so that paying out the rest of your items isn't so annoying. Best of luck.

I would be curious as to what you absolutely needed that you HAD to use their services.  Because I can not think of one thing, let alone 4 items that would be a necessity.  Yes, flat screen TV's are nice but you don't NEED one.  A bed is nice, but an $80(or less) air mattress from your local discount store would be just fine.  You can go down the line and probably have the same result with other items.  There is a difference between NEED and WANT.

They, and other rental places, cater to people who have credit issues.  As a result they are going to be more aggressive to make sure people pay the amount owed.  By your other comments I have a feeling that you fall into this category.

Life happens and 1-2 days late is nothing,

- NO 1-2 days late is 1-2 days late.  If you had a regular credit card, they may not call you to "remind" you.  But they will be sure to charge you a late fee, and that late fee can be around $39.  

One or two days late on a payment that is due weekly, is like being over a week late on a payment that is due monthly.  And yes that is also something.

These rent to own places do business with lots of deadbeat types - the kind of people who say things like "life happens" and think it justifies not paying a bill.  So yes - I'm sure they bug the hell out of you if you start to miss payments.  If you had items that I owned and you were not paying I would bug you - probably more.  A big portion of the customers that these companies have can't get credit - so yes - they defend themselves the best way they can when these deadbeats don't pay.  They are in business to make money - not provide free stuff to people.  Not to say anything bad about people who rent - I rented an apartment full of furniture from one of these places for three months when I had a temporary relocation for work.  I paid the bills when due.  There were no problems and no one bugged me at all.

I understand how it is hard to believe what I am saying but in fact I have phone records and witnesses to prove it.  In fact I would have one person calling me from one phone and another person in the same office calling me before the other hung up. I am glad you don't run your branch this way but the store I work with does and has. If you don't believe me ask the store cause I've gone in there screaming because they are harrassing me over a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flimsy story

For some reason, being an employee of the company and know how we do things, I cant help but think part of this may not be true.

Do you know what it takes to work in a RAC store?  I would think you dont...otherwise you would not have this problem.  They will not call your one phone number 23 times in one day if you are only 2 days late.  They will not call your Cell and your Home phone 23 times in one day if you are 2 days late.  They wont call all your numbers and references 23 times in one day if you are only 2 days late.

Not becasue it might be considered harassment, but becasue its a waste of time.  They have much too much to do to have to do that. 

Give the stuff back and save everyones time.  Especially if you are going to go so far as to call people names because your a deadbeat who cant pay your bills on time.
