Rent a center No contract with rent a center. Someone came looking for a washer that belonged to someone who got evicted Michigan

*Consumer Comment: They can come looking all they want...
Someone has been evicted from apartments... all belonging to the curb including a washer and dryer.. Almost a month later rent a center comes to the door. They are looking for there washer and dryer that had been placed to the curve in the eviction.. I am not the owner or lease holder of the washer or dryer. Rent a center saying that the police will be coming around for there stolen property.. There was no sticker saying it was a rented unit.. the maintenance would of never let it go to the curve. Can they just come looking when I never walked in there store..

If they have a resonable belief that the Washer and Dryer is at a certain address then yes they can come looking for it. Not saying you are, but this isn't the first time they have heard the "that person got evicted" story from the person who rented the items.
Now, of course if they tried to enter your residence, or caused other disturbances that is something different. But there is nothing wrong with coming to your door and asking about the merchandise.
If the police come, they can talk to the apartment manager who would say the other party was evicted and if they look in your apartment they won't see the washer or dryer.
If this company keeps coming around or increases the "harassement" in other ways take cell phone video and go to your local police to file a report. That may be enough for them to get the message and stop. But you may have to put some effort in and get a restraining order against them from coming on your property if it continues.
