Thirteen Days Ago, on July 18, 2014, around 8:30am, my parked Chrysler 300C was hit by an Enterprise Chevy Captiva rental car. My car was knocked up on the curb into the grass with lots of damage to the body all around and the rear axle was rammed into the body of the car making it inoperable.

The Chevy flipped over on its side in the middle of the street and the driver fled the scene before the police arrived. I was thankful I wasn't in the car at the tlme. However, little did I realize at the time how this unfortunate incident was about to change my life in unexpected ways. First of all my mother who is still alive at 89 going on 90 depends on me a great deal and lives on the polar opposite side of town. Secondly, I'm a real estate consultant and transportation is critical to my line of work, without such, I'm pretty much DOA.

So as the saga began to unfold, a tow company immediately appeared and two of its employees presented themselves as vendors of Enterpise Rental Car. The two gentlemen were Ray and Sam from X-press Recovery & Towing Inc., located in Blue Island, IL which is a suburb of Chicago. They offered me assistance and reassurance that they would help me get my car fixed and into a rental. Afterall, they stated that they had a relationship with Enterprise and had even called a local office to check on availability of a car on my behalf. Ok I thought to myself, but let me clear this with Enterprise.

So I proceeded to call Enterprise to find out their procedure to get a claims number and file a complaint. Again, I thought to myself, this should be fairly simple, seeming that the largest car rental company in North America would have procedures in place to usher me through their system and restore me to wholeness as quickly as possible. Yep, just like me, you can feel the tension beginning in pit of your stomach because you can see where this is headed..................

I spent much of the morning and afternoon on the phone, spoke to 13 different Enterprise employees, was transferred from one department to another and never got the same story twice! I ended up with 2 different claims numbers only to be given yet a third number by the time I was assigned an adjuster, Robert Fowler with Rental Insurance Services Inc. around 4pm much later in the day. Please forgive me as I'm not a professional writer, but just so you'll know there was a great deal of chaos and confusion that transpired between the early morning and late afternoon that wretched day. I won't waste your time with all the sordid details, but we're all too familiar with this tired story of bad customer service, corporate malfeasance and irresponsibility.

There is no way in the world that 13 days later, I'm without a replacement vehicle and on the verge of loosing my part-time job that I started this past December, having been unemployed for the previous three years. I'm 1099 folks so there's absolutely no collecting umemployment for me and my poor mother who depends on me............. well you get the picture. There is absolutely no humanity in Enterprise's & RIS's business model and no one should have to go through what I've been through. Robert Fowler the adjuster has got to be either new at this or just plain callous according to how he's handled my complaint/claim.

He has even gone as far as placing the blame on me while his "investigation" continues. Meanwhile, I'm stuck dealing with real world consequences as a result of somebody else's poor judgement. These huge corporations really could care less about the damage they inflict on peoples lives and more about their bottom lines and profit margins and insurance is a huge business for them. No surprise there, please take a look at my video and feel free to comment and share your opinions:

Thanks for your time and tell everyone that you know to avoid doing business with Enterprise whenever possible and their subsidiaries, National, Alamo and they've now acquired car rental companies in Spain and China.
