I'd been working on a loan modification with my mortgage company for 11 months.  It seemed as though it was never going to happen.  I receive this letter in the mail stating that they could be instrumental in getting my mortgage modified.  I immediately called and was assured that this company could help me and I would have my new mortgage payment by February 2011.  I was so desperate to believe, I gave my credit card number to charge the $1595.  They didn't waste any time deducting the money the next day.  The following week when I didn't hear anything, I started calling.  That's when I found out that they were under investigation.  I reiterated to their associates that I couldn't afford to be scammed.  They assured me that they were a legitimate company and had helped many.  I hope something gets done so that we can receive refunds.
