Fraud in general and specifically of timeshare are the order of the day. Customers should be cautious and not be fooled by false promises about investment returns, timeshare resales or anything that sounds too good to be true. As I stated in my previous story I was lied to in order to purchase a Timeshare from Westgate. They told me I could not cancel within the 5 days because I purchased a foreclosed timeshare. Well after much persistence Of sending cancellation letters to all offices and calling repeatedly. They finally decided after 2 months they would cancel my contract and refund the money they took out of my account. So if I could do it so can all of you out there in a similar situation. I had to learn the hard way, but thankful I'm done with Westgate!

You can cancel a timeshare purchase within the 5 day period, if you provide proper notification.  You must send notification to the address provided in the contract document and the notification must be sent official mail (with tracking capabilities).  Many people merely return to the sales office to cancel their memberships.  There is one and only one place requiring official notification that you have exercised your rights under the law.  You are required to return all documents, publications, and gifts you have received (in excess of the gifts for attending the presentation) from Westgate Resorts.  If Westgate then refuses to timely refund all charges, initiate a regulatory complaint with the State of Florida.  If that fails, you still have the right to initiate a case in court.
