Resurgent Capital Services Fraudulent collections by CBCS Resurgent Capital Services; Mail Fraud Greenville South Carolina

I received a collection letter from CBCS in Columbus, Ohio offering to settle a debt on behalf of Resurgent Capital Services of Greenville, North Carolina. The problem is that the debt they are trying to collect is a debt that I never owed. Also, the billing name on the debt was a shortened version of my name, and I have never used that name for any business transactions. I called CBCS and told them the problem. I was shocked when I was very politely told to disregard the notice. That just seemed way too easy. I decided to check on the Web and I found that I was not alone in my experience with Resurgent Capital Services and CBCS.

These people aren't attempting to commit fraud, they ARE committing fraud. False billing via the United States Postal Service is mail fraud. I don't know how many other laws are being broken with this scam, but my next stop is to file a mail fraud complaint with the US Postal Inspection Service.
