In june I hired Retrofoam of Florida to add sprayin insulation to my home. They visited me twice at my home to tell me how great their product is and how much money I will save. At least $100.00 a month
First of all when they started they tore my siding up all around my home as they injected the foam, after a few days they finished the foam job and had to hire a contractor to fix my siding which took a couple weeks and $1,896.00. Retrofoam did not want to pay him in a timely manner so he told me he was putting a lien on my property so i paid him.
I subtracted this money from the $5100.00 that I owed. Then they had to paint my home which took a few more days. My main complaint is I have recieved no savings, In the months since the job my kilw. usage is more than the same months last year. i have contacted them at least two dozen times since and they will not even return my calls.
I sent them copies of my elec. bills, no response. I had to take out a loan for this and cannot afford the payment along with the still high utility bill. The savings was to make my payment, please help me resolve this problem.

Throw someone under the bus instead of taking responsibility

Doug Ringold here.
All information supplied to Billy is clearly stated in Retrofoam of Florida's brochures which I had nothing to do with writing. I only shared information supplied by my employer Retrofoam of Florida/Affordable Insulaiton Systems. THIER brochure states 30 to 50% savings, if you take Billies bill of 300/month and take the low end of savings as stated by RETROFOAMS brochure, that would be in the area of $!00.00. Why I am blamed for this is beyond me as I didn't make up these numbers, they were supplied by my former employer. It seems somehow I have been blamed for this. The problems the were to be addressed with Retrofoam were forwarded to the Owner Pat Ringold, who was to contact Billy and settle this problem. I was told to write the rebuttal and although I did not agree with the statements I was mearly an employee of the company doing what I was taught and told. These numbers stated can easily be found on thier website today, www.retrofoamfl.com and can also be found on Polymaster.com, the manufacturer of the foam. Although I am truly sorry that this did not actually be the truth, one of the reasons for my parting with this company was due to the discrepencies between the claimed R values, the Claimed savings, all of which is still advertised by this company to this day, even after my termination. Truth be know the present manager was less than truthful about some fictitious job offer I supposed to recieve from another company which was the reason for my termination. Have all supporting documents to back this up. I suggest Retrofoam of Florida do less blaming and more taking responsibility for thier actions and not changing thier name to lose the problems they have created themselves. Additionally if you missed it, Affordable Insulation Systems is thier new name.

To address some of the issues as not all can be at this time. First, Billy was visited once approximately a year earlier and then re contacted our company to have us come out again. Both times were at his invitation. On the second visit We (Billy and myself) inspected the house with an infrared camera and could plainly see the heat signals coming through his wall. In addition we were trying our best to figure out why his bill was so high, actually twice as high as we have seen in other simular structures. The only thing that appeared to be a possible problem were the walls. When asked how much his savings would be, he was told, I have no Idea, we have seen both large and small gains, it really depends on the individual house. When we first started the job, Billy was told that the siding was going to be a issue, and I called him and told him we should not proceed, his response was "no I have waited too long for this and I want it" Again I insisted that the siding would be a issue and he insisted that we go ahead with the install, and as I predicted the siding was an issue. We hired a contractor to replace the siding even though after saying we should not do it, we STILL did the right thing and hired a contractor to replace the siding. The contractor gave us an estimate and then after completing the job asked for 3 times the ageed upon price. First the contractor had no lien rights in this matter and two we told Billy that his resposibility on this contract was to our company, and that we would deal with the siding contractor. We completely painted his home although our contract says we are only responsible for "spot" painting and best match technology, clearly spelled out on the contract. Billy insisted we buy the most expensive paint sold as his manufactured home had the best paint available on it. We had a paint representive inspect this and found out the quality and repainted the majority of the house. Way more that the "spot" painting we were obligated to do. Additionally the not returning phone calls, we have extensive proof to the contrary as we have phone logs that show that extensive time has been spent on the phone with Billy to resolve all issues. We have so far gone above and beyond what was contracturally our resonsibility to make him happy.
As far as the energy savings, we have never had a house react in this way, and so we can only assume that there may be another issue that is causing his high electric bill. Billy just wants his money back, yet we have not determined the cause of the problem. We will continue to see if there is anything we did that would have caused this issue, and if so would certainlly take responsibility for it if that is indeed the case. If you look at our handling of issues with this home it is plain to see that Retrofoam of Florida has gone above in beyond in all instances to make this customer happy. His bills have been shared with the manufacturer of the foam, I have personally talked to engineers about what might have happened and we are all scratching our heads. At this moment we have spent almost twice the contract amount in additional work to make this customer happy. We as a company wish this had not happened but we are also in need of the customer to look into other reasons why his bill may be so high. We did our best to fix it, and the foam has a rich history of doing so on all other houses we have treated. If in the end if the foam is at fault then we will as we have PROVED act accordingly. Never was a specific amount of savings ever quoted, we only give expamples of simular installs and the effects on those. I always say that these are just estimates, and that we would love that all customers save a bunch of money and most do, but I can't help but think there is another issue at large here causing the problem.
