We advised our salesperson we were interested in an MPV ES with at least a roof rack, power sliding doors and a DVD system. We looked at the vehicles that were in the front lot and most were either an LS or had a lot more features that we were interested in. She said we can test drive one of the "loaded" ones and then we can look for what we want in the lower lot.

We then test drove that vehicle and then drove down to the other lot to find an ES with only a roof rack and she indicated they would add a DVD and power sliding doors to it. She then had our vehicle appraised and then went to get the offer from the Sales Manager. She came back a minute or two later and said that they cannot add power doors, but she will work the deal with the vehicle we drove. After some negotiation, during which we verified we were talking about the vehicle we just test drove, we agreed on a price of $19,500 financed, which included our trade in. By the way, we were told that the price included a $3000 customer loyalty discount as we had purchased two vehicles there in the past, however I was told during the test drive that the discount was $1000. The additional $2000 was a factory rebate we knew about and they never advised us of.

We then completed some paperwork, advised them we had our own financing, gave them the insurance and tag information for the trade in as well as the title and keys and then we waited. They then began some discussion at the Sales Managers desk for about 30 minutes and then they (our salesperson who had only been there a week, was now working with her "partner") began to leave and our salesperson said on the way out that they were going to fill up our new car. We found out later that they actually went to the other lot to pick out another car for us. They then came back and continued to discuss something at the sales desk and then came back and advised that our salesperson was new and although she verified with us on two occasions what vehicle we were negotiating for, she misunderstood the sales manager and that was not the vehicle.

Now they were willing to give us the lower model LS which does not include some features that are standard on the ES and they would just add the leather and DVD. This did not include the now missing standard ES features or the 4 season package, moon roof, and 6 disc CD changer. But I was told that it had everything we wanted. That may be true, but what was not what we agreed to pay $19500 for and it was not our fault. The salesperson apologized and said she should have gotten a stock number once she found out that the power doors could not be added to the one we picked out. I just wonder how they could have been talking about a different car than the one we test drove when they did not have a stock number.

The "partner" presented this new vehicle as "we found a vehicle that has everything you wanted and then we can add the leather and DVD" He never once advised that it was an entirely different model vehicle than what we said we wanted in the first place. He made is seem like we should have known that they would not have sold the one we test drove for the price we agreed on. All I know is if you send someone who has only been there a week to negotiate with a customer, you should be prepared to take the loss for their mistakes. I unfortunately lost several hours of my time!
