If you plan on conducting any kind of business with Rickey Benns from Arlington, Texas, read this report first:

In September of 2006, I started a new job with much better pay than my previous so I decided to reward myself with a new car. After about 6 months with the vehicle I decided I wanted to start taking some classes online but I couldn't afford to with my high car payment. I decided to find a way to sell my car in order to free up some cash to pay for school. Yes, buying the car was an inpulse buy but it wasn't that I couldn't afford it. I had just thought of better ways to use my newly increased income after the fact.

I was upside down on my car so I couldn't sell it. I did some research online and found a company that helps individuals in my situation. The website described their services as a way for individuals to eliminate their car payment. I wanted to know more so I emailed the company asking for more information.

In February of 2007, Rickey Benns contacted me and after several emails, telephone calls, and contract faxing we arranged for him to pick up the vehicle. The first half of my business dealings with Mr. Benns were pleasant. He seemed sincere and conducted himself professionally.
The contract specifically stated that he would make the necessary car payments and any additional fees in a timely manner and after approximately 280 days the car would be payed off. Since, the car is in my name the loan would remain in my name and I would still be responsible. I did assume this risk but also assumed that Mr. Benns would follow through on his end of our legal binding contract. He did not.

I thought to myself, this is great but it sounds too good to be true. Rickey Benns explained to me that he was in the real estate business and that when he sells a house he will pay off the car. "It probably will be about 6 months," he said referring to the amount of time it would take to pay off the car. I was relieved. He picked up the car from my home in KY and drove it back to Texas.

This was probably the last good contact I had with Rickey Benns. It was all downhill from here. It wasn't even a month after he picked the car up that I started receiving collection calls from my bank. I contacted Rickey and he assured me that it was taken care of. I must have received 10 more calls from my bank before the payment was made.

Already, Mr. Benns had put the account behind. A few months went by and I did receive collection calls on occasion. But usually with a few persistent emails and phone calls to Rickey Benns the payment was eventually made. There was one occasion where I got tired of having to call him. I threatened him with legal action if he didn't make the payment immediately. Rickey got offended because I expected him to keep his word and make the payments on or before the due date. I guess he dosn't understand how contracts work. This is the main reason no one should do business with Ricky Benns. He doesn't acknowledge the legal aspect of contracts. He uses them to gain trust and nothing more. I was beginning to think this whole thing was making matters worse than better.

Six months flew by and Rickey gave me some excuse about not being able to pay the car off because of his real estate business not performing well. I understood and stated to him as long as he makes timely payements he could run out the loan for all I care.

There was a 2-3 month period when I did not get any collection calls. After Rickey Benns had the vehicle for a little over a year I started to receive more calls from my bank. I checked the account online and apparently every month the payment was late. This time I had enough. I called Rickey and told him he needs to make the payment to bring the account up to date immediately to fulfill his end of the contract. He said, "I don't respond well to demands." Well, Rickey, I don't respond well to people who lie.
I told him he needs to either pay off the car like he was supposed to or I was coming to get it. Of course, he couldn't afford to pay off the car, the guy couldn't even afford to make monthly payments.

So I picked the car up not surprised to see several things wrong with it; not to mention the 45,000 miles he had put on it in just over a year.
I totally understand that I took a risk when I decided to do business with Rickey Benns but I guess I had more faith in people than I really should. Rickey Benns is the most unproffesional, unethical, sorry excuse for a businssman I have ever dealt with.

In my experience, Rickey Benns did not fulfill his end of the contract, was rude when I spoke with him after our initial transaction, was difficult to get a hold of and usually only called back after a threat to take legal action, and he has no morale compass. He takes advantage of people in tough situations, exploits them, and ultimately considers them to be stupid. I thought about suing him for breach of contract but I doubt I'll ever get any money out of tihs guy who can't even handle a car payment. Do not engage in any business with Rickey Benns.
