DEERFIELD BEACH, FloridaI HAVE HAD A PROVIDIAN GETSMART VISA FOR 3 YEARS - THEY HAD INCREASED MY CREDIT LINE NUMEROUS TIMES DUE TO MY OUTSTANDING PAYMENT HISTORY.
BEING ONLINE ONE DAY I FOUND MY CREDIT LIMIT DECREASED AND PROMPTLY CALLED TO FIND OUT WHY.
I WAS NOW CONSIDERED A CREDIT RISK BY THEIR GUIDELINES, WHICH THEY COULD NOT TELL ME.
I GET A LETTER CONFIRMING THE DECREASE AND THAT MY INTEREST RATE WAS INCREASING AFTER PAYING OFF THE CARD.
I THEN GET 2 NEW CARDS IN THE MAIL, TRIED CALLING THE # LISTED FOR 2 WEEKS AND COULDN'T GET THROUGH.
FINALLY I FIND THAT MY GETSMART CARD WAS SWITCHED TO EMERGE. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS LOCATED IN PAKISTAN AND IT NEVER FAILS EVERY TIME I CALL TO OBTAIN INFO, THEIR SYSTEMS ARE DOWN.
I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT MY NO ANNUAL FEE PROVIDIAN GETSMART CARD WITH A 16.74% INTEREST RATE AND A $3500 CREDIT LIMIT NOW HAS AN ANNUAL FEE OF $89 AND AN INTEREST RATE OF 29.99% AND A CREDIT LIMIT OF $1040.
I HAVE TOLD THEM THIS IS ILLEGAL WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND I WAS PROMPTLY ADVISED THEY WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO CLOSE THE ACCOUNT.
THIS COMPANY HAS TO BE STOPPED - PROVIDIAN HAS REALLY SCREWED IT'S LOYAL PAYING CUSTOMERS.
