River Auto Sales, Vosper Don't Waste Your Time with River Auto Sales Selling Lemons!! 1414 Route 37 - Toms River New Jersey

River Auto Sales of Toms River is a perfect example of dealing with a shady, slick talking, polyester pant wearing, pushy used car sales dealer. River Auto sells only used cars purchased at auction. From my dealings with them it is clear they do not even inspect the left overs that they purchase.

About 2 weeks ago I went with my Brother to check out a 2004 Audi he saw posted on their website. The car looked great on the outside aside for some minor dings here and there. While inspecting the car we noticed the front bumper had a major scratch running from the corner front passenger side. We took a closer inspection and saw that it ran under the car. Without getting too dirty and going under the car we could see there was a lot of damage under the front body of the car. My brother and I thought it was just some cosmetic stuff and its ok since no one is going to see under the car. But we would let the used car dealer know and see if they would come down on their asking price of 20k (which was the NADA retail value of the car).

So we went in to the office and were greeted by the not so warm owner / salesman, George Vosper. He asked us what we wanted and we told him we were interested in their used 2004 Audi. He said sure but just so you know someone was already looking at it this morning (typically used car salesman lines begin). We said ok, but before we take it for a spin the price is a bit high and their seems to be some front end under body damage. He responded by saying "people run over curbs and stuff, don't worry about it and if you want we can put it up on the rack and take a closer look, but if it is not too bad the price is the price".

With that we took the car down the road to their gas station / car repair shop (Vosper Gas aka Texaco). They put it up on the rack and we saw that the under body was more messed up then we thought. My brother took a closer look and saw there was even oil leaking!!! My brother said out loud to George Vosper, "I hope your willing to come down on your asking price, since this car is bleeding." He said "oh don't worry about oil leaking, we will clean that up for you, have my man patch it up too". My brother said "if you fix it you have to offer me some type of warranty". George Vosper said "No way! The price is set and no warranty! This is an Audi, I will find someone else to buy it!!" He started to get really pissy and loud that we were no longer interested in his used lemon, I mean car. He started to put us down, yelling and even said "he owns a Porsche and he is dealing with us two who are using some leaking oil as an excused because we can not afford a car".

My brother and I who are both in our late 20's looked at the red faced late 50's owner / sales rep and told him to cool down and bring us back to his used car lot because we are not about to take any more of his crap and personal degrading of us. Lucky for him he realized he should shut up and took us back to the used car lot. I have a feeling this guy definitely got his @$$ kicked more than a handful of times in his depressed life.
My brother and I were happy to get off the lemon tree farm, I mean River Auto Sales used cars lot. After that crazy and unprofessional experience we took a ride to a classy Mercedes Benz dealer and purchased a nice 2004 pre-own certified Benz there on the spot.

Too make a long story short, even if your buying a bike, don't waste your time and money dealing with the shady River Auto Sales of Toms River. Save yourself the headache of buying a lemon.
