I work with a non-profit agency assisting people who have been scammed by businesses like the ones affiliated with Rory M Alarcon (NY Law registration #4454567).  One of his businesses, RMA Legal Network promised a mortgage loan modification to one of my clients and then did nothing but take their money.  Taking money up front -- before doing actually getting the modification is in violation of the FTC MARS rule.

He is being investigated by the NY Attorney General and other government agencies.  The best place to start complaining about him is with the NY State Bar Association.  You can get the complaint form online at their site.  They have a client restitution fund that might get your money back if Alarcon scammed you.  Also complain to the NY State Attorney General.

He got $2,000 from my client before she stopped the payments (which he took directly from her bank account).  NEVER pay anyone to do a mortgage modification for you.  You can get help for free from community agencies that help people with fair housing or fair lending issues.

File with the BBB so that you can warn other people as well.  I have filed with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (file with your state agency that has a consumer complaint agency or bureau).

I doubt that anyone will ever get money back from Atty Alarcon.  I've seen too many of these scammers and they do not part with money.  Some stash it offshore where it can't be found.   More and more attorneys are getting into the scam business risking their law licenses.  There is a lot of money to be made from white collar crime.

I got a letter indicating that the firm closed due to a court case and money stuff. When I called the phones were off. The internet says they closed there office too. I tried to call people who signed me up in California but there phones are off too. I made one deposit a while ago then stopped.

Update: My client repaid in full

AUTHOR: StopRescueScams - ()

POSTED: Thursday, April 25, 2013

The best strategy that I found was complaining about RMA to the State Supreme Court of New York State (with complaints about attorneys they function like other states' Bar Association). My client was refunded in full.  Again, Mr. Alarcon is being investigated by the NY Attorney General and by other law enforcement agencies.  I also filed with the NY Attorney General's office, the BBB, the Loan Modification Scam Prevention Network and here.

Scammer Pays My Client in Full - RMA Legal Network

AUTHOR: StopRescueScams - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, November 15, 2012

Rory Alarcon, owner of RMA Legal Network has paid my clients the entire amount of the money his company took from them.  RMA promised a mortgage loan modification and did nothing.  Not even contacting the clients' lender as they said they had.
In this case, he did nothing until I filed a complaint with the Bar of Association of New York State.  Suddenly, he responded.  One of his associates has been disbarred.  State and federal authorities continue to investigate this attorney and his law firms.

What would you do?

AUTHOR: Nate M. - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, November 09, 2012

Dorothy,

You say that I am hiding while only giving your first name. Let's be realistic.

Second, I believe that your allegations are wrong.

Did you look into your client's situation?

If your clients received a return of funds, would you continue to wage your campaign against these offices?

I do not think that you would, as this site does not verify the authenticity of any reports.

For example, I could say that a Tax Collector was not doing their job while in office, but would not have to prove anything.

You simplify matters while throwing stones. So I ask again, what would you do if your clients were made whole?

RMA Legal Network is a scam

AUTHOR: StopRescueScams - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, November 08, 2012

Gosh Nate (USA), I just spent time giving you an original response to two other blasts you have about my posting.  I give details.  You don't.  I also see that each of your vague, baseless "rebuttals" is identical.  Can you say "cut and paste"? Now I do question why you are so busy.  Too much time on your hands?

I have been working on helping homeowners get money back from scammers like this one for 2 1/2 years.  How long have you personally done business with all these scam businesses in different states that you care so much about?

The details in my posts speak for themselves.  If you expect to be believed then you simply have to show that you actually know what you are talking about.  Not just repeat the same message over and over again no matter who they attorney is.

Good Questions

AUTHOR: StopRescueScams - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, November 08, 2012

Nate, (USA) you reminded me that I do not have a profile on file on this site.  I do with the BBB.  I work for a non-profit organization in Wisconsin.  My job is to assist homeowners who have been scammed by companies promising to obtain a lower mortgage payment for them.  They take money in violation of the FTC MARS rule and state law where those states have a pertinent law.

I have been doing this exclusively for 2 1/2 years.  I have recommended exactly the right agencies to complain to for this case.  Depending on the case and the state where the scammer is located, I may file complaints with other agencies on other cases.

My name is Dorothy and I have given far more information about my work than others who post complaints here.  What is your interest in and expertise with these kinds of businesses?  Where do you suggest that complaints be filed?  If you have a new one I need to know.

Who are you?

AUTHOR: Nate - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, November 01, 2012

You seem to have a lot to say, but use this site since nobody needs to check the accuracy.

Are you not identifying yourself because you are just making allegations without proof, or is it because you are such a crusader that all the bad guys are "out to get you" because you are so important?

This only makes it appear that what you are saying is not true, since if it was, you would have nothing to worry about.

Finally, your information is incorrect regarding who to report to, but that is understandable.
