Robert B. Construction locked me out of my house for 2.5 months not giving me a key for access. He convinced me that it would be easier for all of us if he purchased the lot.

This prevented me from seeing challenges come up with the house.

On the print there are two garage door openers. Explained to me right before closing that the second garage door opener was purchased and installed. I would be given the second opener with the keys after closing.

Did not follow through on verbal agreement about picking up wood flooring. Spent eight hours delivering wood flooring to meet a dealine of his.

Missed two days of work one day getting a fourth cabinet estimate because he blocked the one I wanted to go with. I had a deadline to get the fourth cabinet estimate.

suggested I get an Amish cabinet bid this bid was out of my price range. Robert B. Said is would be in line with the cabinet allowance it was twice as much.

Robert B. is now retaliating and scheming due to my wife submitting complaints to the BBB and attorney general and talking about our experience in the small town we live in.

It was explained to me to not spread lies about the builder through out the small town. Robert B. explained to me that he has a reputation to uphold.

Robert Barrow allowed his brother and his wife to mistreat me and my family severely during this building process, with fictitious made up deadlines, made up carpet allowance, blocking bids for material for our home, locking us out, having us sign forms and still locking us out, making us try to fulfill impossible tasks while my wife was pregnant and having four children, jeopardizing my job and my sanity. I have lost over 20 pounds through this ordeal. Our first house had some challenges but none of theme were schemed or planned to trip us up to the point we almost lost the house and $70,000 dollars to boot.

I was not able to fulfill my verbal agreements with painting the trim and doors or installing the wood flooring before closing. With five children I am struggling to keep up with repairs, work not done, unfinished, or having to redo work plus paint.

Purposely blocked my cabinet quote and carpet quote forcing me to go with cheap cabinets and carpet when higher quality material was very possible to purchase.

Did not install the correct finger latches for the six closet bedroom doors. Refused to install the right ones saying he did not have the correct drill bid.

Did not caulk at all a shower/tub allowing water leakage underneath the tub to the ceiling below. Did not caulk the walls of the shower tub allowing for possible leakage as well. One wall of the tub is not properly supported and will need to be reinstalled correctly.

Did not have proper protection to prevent water leakage on to the ceiling below under neath the master bathroom tub.

Did not allow me to install towel racks or mirrors before closing because I was locked out of the house. Two mirrors cannot be installed due to electrical boxes needing to be moved. This could have been caught before closing.

One 4 switch electrical box is completely crooked must cut the whole evenly and straighten out electrical box.

Stair case badly creaks and pops in many spots must remove the carpet and rescrew many stairs.

Many nail holes popping through the dry wall would not allow me into the house to replace the nails with screws to prevent nails from popping.

Did not put any threshold trim between carpet and tile.

One kitchen tile is cracked, many many craked corners on the kitchen and bathroom tiles. Grout lines are uneven, tiles are uneven.

Mudroom and laundry room sinks need to be caulked.

Unfairly charged $150.00 for plumbing call.

I have had to redo messed up caulking jobs in many areas.

Many gouges in drywall. A few holes in the window screens, screens need to rescreened. One screen is bent. Much dry wall mud needed to be cleaned off of windows, doors, and bathtubs.

A couple came in to help me clean up and install bathroom fixtures. Both agreed our builder did not like us much based on what they saw.

Will not warranty our cabinets or help repair damaged laminate saying we caused the damage due to toxic cleaning products when the water was probably left there due to the plumber. We had no cleaning products where the damage was and one near by is all natural.

As of this writing cannot use the guest bath sink due to plumbing problems above and below the sink. Plumbing underneath the sink failed on the fourth day in the house. There is severe damage to the wood floor underneath the sink. Guest sink was not caulked or no sink splash was advised to install so more water damage to drywall wood floor and base board.

Cabinet underneath the cook top is completely incorrect and the builder will not correct this. It's a sink base cabinet not a drawer base. The cabinet layout was suppose to be based off two other cabinet layouts that were blocked or beyond the allowance.

Also being a custom house we had no choice in stair railing or porch railing. We had to go with what the builder wanted. The builder was always concerned due to a three month weather delay out of our control of losing more money on our house.

Forgot to bid a third of the cabinets for the whole house saying they were not on the print to cover himself immediately after he admitted his mistake.

Robert B. completely frazzeled me with unnecessary work and frustration it was much harder than the first house I built. Many times I had to choose between my job and the house, my five children and the house.

Robert B. personally did not take notes. He said his notes are all in his head.

Unscrupulous, worried about losing much money so Robert B. took it out on me and my family. He lost a customer when someone who really liked our house wanted to know who the builder was. I told them I could not recommend this builder.

More Work To Do

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

Integrity this time: I contacted Benji Barrow in regards to a door that was warped he gave me the supplier's name making it much easier to replace the door. Thank you

1. Baseboard trim through out the whole house all needs to be repainted there are many spaces and gaps that need to be caulked and repainted.

2.Did not finish caulking kitchen sink.

3. Boy's bath tub considerable space and hole where overfill drain cover does not completely fit over the pipe.

4.Copper pipe for out door faucet was installed as an after thought. Installed OUTSIDE of dry wall not inside of the dry wall.

5. finding more holes in another screen this week.

6. Corner trim is missing on many of the corners on the base cabinets and island cabinets.

Contacted builder September 5th in regards to kitchen counter top not screwed down in two of the corners. The whole for the kitchen sink was cut too big and the counter was not properly supported in this area of the sink. When pressing down on the counter the sink significantly moved up and down. Benji was willing to come out if I could not fix it.

I have three pages now of items to fix. I am very overwhelmed. Again it was not like this in our previous new construction house.

When this builder gets in a financial jam, feels overwhelmed, underestimates the time leaving enough time to build a home of our size will he resort to tactics that frustrate the customer to no end, sabotage every effort to stay on task, lie, scheme, conspire to blame everything on the customer. So what if mistakes are made...they all can be resolved. If builder falls into similar situation financially and with weather delays will he do anything unethical to save himself?

Benji and Nathan Barrow along with Benji's wife Monica Barrow were more concerned about what they could legally get away with than what is fair. Completely overpowered us and misused this power. This was all "business". Our builder and realtor took away such values as honesty and integrity showing no mercy except a little so they would not look too malicious. All was well thought out almost all of it twisted to make it look like were the bad guy.

Accused of Harrassment builder retaliating

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 01, 2008

My wife made two voicemail messages one at midnight Friday July 18th 2008 and another at approximately 11pm Sunday July 20th on the week we were unpacking. The first message partly consisted of the bead of water underneath the sink base cabinet and that the laminate was coming off in one place (later we found more bubbling in another place of this same cabinet). The builder did not call us for further information instead sending over the plumber the following Saturday morning. The following Teusday July 22nd 2008, we received a letter and in invoice for $150.00. The letter explained my wife leaving two voicemail messages and if she contacts Robert B. Construction after the hours of 7 and 5 p m business hours Robert B. Construction will be seeking further action.

July 15, 2008 we sent Robert B. Construction a letter from a lawyer explaining the company broke a legal contract by not allowing us to have quality cabinets of our choosing and making up a fictitious carpet allowance with in the flooring allowance. We asked Robert B. Construction to remedy the situation replacing the carpet and the cabinets.

August 6, 2008 A letter from their lawyer refuted our letter saying we explored many cabinets businesses. We did not however explore Floors To Go or Aristocraft cabinets. The original contract doesn't call for 30" cabinets. The letter also said the carpet was installed according to the contract.

Meaning Robert B. Construction will not replace the value of the cabinets and carpet in our home.

We cannot prove that Robert B Construction or our realtor Route 66 Realtors (head of both companies are married) are behind the actions of calling up child protection one week(there were approximately four calls made and questions came to us that were in a letter that was written to them the Sunday before and from a voice mail a few weeks prior about unfairly billing us), animal control the next week and indirectly behind placing the neighborhood association complaint. Both companies have close friends in our neighborhood to which they vacation so they could have been indirectly behind the association complaint. We cannot prove these actions at this time.
