MAX Bishop.. Mr. Robert Maxell Bishop. Where are we going to start with all the crap this self proclaimed mule guru wantabe cowboy which is just a con artist in 6 inch spurs and hat.
1. Mr. Bishops training and knowledge gathered from his videos and posts. He is very rough and manhandles his animals. He seems to only be able to ride and train wearing 6 inch spurs. You watch in his videos animals being stood on, Sitting on their necks, legs being yanked up with ropes, rode down cliffs with no leg protection, gaul marks in the armpits, having to pony pull mules through and over things such as logs while their rider falls off and he seems to have a fascination of putting back hoofs into his private region and refer to himself as having “balls of steal”. These are animals he claims are broke broke while most of us half assed experienced equine owners would only say they are still very green. You see much tail swishing and trying to step away from Mr. Bishop from these animals and that is only if they still have energy after being rode for hours. OOORR how about the video of the mule he tried to ride onto a moving flat bed and ends up falling off… Yeaaa because we all will need to put a mule on a moving flat bed. What gets me the most is people ACTUALLY think this grand standing side show carnival is good horsemanship.. I mean really people, I have some ocean front property in Wyoming I will sell ya too. Now I know how Jim Jones got people to drink the kool aid.
2 Buying of a FAMOUS MAX BISHOP MULE.. WOW! Just what we all wanted, an over priced mentally damage from bad training unsound basket case. You watch the videos, and again most of us right brain people are thinking “hell that must be one hell a mule to put up with balls steal left brain idiot show boating crap” and he gives a guarantee. What can POSSIBLY go wrong?? AHAHHAHAHAHAH EVERYTHING!!! First off his idea of a guarantee is taking the basket case back and replacing it with even a worse of a basket case. “Im in this to make money not loose it” is his motto. He isn’t in it to make sure people are happy with safe animals or that even the animals are safe themselves. First off he is going to kill pens and auctions paying couple hundred on semi broke animals which he then takes home and jumps on with those 6 inch spurs rides into the ground to the point the mule has no energy and then films it and throws it on Facebook for a few thousand. All the while the mule is being housed with 30 to 70 other mules in a open pasture fighting for what little food is put out when and IF it is put out. SOOO like I said you see this video with a mule that a new born baby can ride and he will even deliver it to your door step. Just send a few thousand dollars which you do and sit on a pins and needles until the LEGENDARY MAX BISHOP arrives with your majestic mount. He pulls and in and you excited as a fat kid that won the Willy Wonky Golden Ticket. The Door open as you hold your breath and out comes this pitiful skinny scared and most cases injured mule as your chest falls to your feet. You just been HAD!
You sit weighing the options. You being a TRUE animal lover and care for your livestock are now torn on right and wrong for the best interest of the Animal but again you just gave this man THOUSANDS for a 200.00 mule with a huge hole lower leg wound that is being treated by PETROLEUM axel grease because that is what has been used forever. As you blink realizing this man is dumber then the rainbow he claims his mules make. ( Yes wounds were treated by axle grease but that was when axle grease was cooked off cure meat fat.) ANNNYYYWAYY now you have this animal standing in front of you that is not the same animal in the Pictures and videos and clearly needs vet treatment and food. Do you let the animal stay where it is clearly not being cared for right and HOPE he brings you a better one or do you take the animal and get it the care it needs and eat the money? As the GREAT MULE TRAINER is running off at the mouth about how the mule is just a bit dehydrated and with just a couple weeks of Groceries will be back to the Full Healthy mule you saw in the pictures 30 days ago. You look at the trailer load of skinny sad mules and know this man is nothing but a dirty horse trader. You do the right thing for the MULE and take it and get it the care it hasn’t had for quite awhile.
3. The AFTER Purchase. Now you have this GREAT animal. Some know right off they have animal that isn’t what is claimed then there are the others that sadly don’t find out until they end up in the hospital fighting for their lives. Each and every time when Max is contacted it is the buyers fault or the vet doesn’t know their job that they spent 7 plus years and 100,000.00s become. The LEGENDARY MAX BISHOP that uses truck axel grease on a wound knows better then anyone else. You start getting the run around and insulted. You make any comment on Facebook and WHAMMMMMMM then you get attacked by a s* load of people. Your messages blow up with threats from people you don’t know. Your phone number is given out to perfect strangers to call and harass you. Videos are made by MAX ranting like a 3 yr old throwing a tantrum on the grocery store floor because he can’t have the candy bar. EVERYTHING is EVERYONE else fault and these Joe Dirt types come to his defense. They make threatening posts about rape, going in a gang to peoples houses and beating people. HIS own wife, which he talks about being able to “suck a frosty through a straw” posts she would rather has sex with Virgil’s pig. YES such a class act those Bishops are. Let’s not forget the Great Video MAX had his young MINOR daughter film where he makes false claims of a woman owning a mule she never saw before while he had to use a rope to pick ups it’s feet the whole time the Mule is swishing it’s tale and trying to get away from while tied short. Then has a hold of the poor mule foot rubbing it (((REDACTED))) telling those that have been scammed by him to go do vulgar things. GREAT parenting there I telling you, Yes sir father of the year martial.
Though I could go on and on for pages I am forcing myself to keep this short. Have I ever Met or bought a Mule from the man? Nope a couple years ago when I was in the market for a mule someone suggested him. 5 minutes on his page watching his trail riding videos I pretty much determined he was a complete idiot and doesn’t have a clue. Just another dirty horse trader. I was also amazed how many people were stupid enough to buy from the man also. I ended up buying a great little well broke mule for 200.00 that is better then anything MAX had. Now I not saying he doesn’t get lucky and stumbles onto a few good broke mules here and there but I am not a roulette player. Anyone that thinks riding a Mule through a construction sight full of nails or washing a mule in car wash on full power is ok I don’t believe should own an animal either.
I have gathered posts and pictures from here and there that back up the facts. After reading this and or looking on facebook you still buy from the man and get screwed welllll…. SUCKS TO BE YOU! You were warned and should done your research first there are things on his own page going back into 2015. Also be warned her is now trying to use other dirty traders in other states to dump these poor animals he has Neglected and in my opinion abused.

My experience is much more personal then the others as I knew Max for a few years. Rode with him quite a few times at different events. Rode some of his Mules too. Of course this was long before he was Digger Famous. Though he was bit a show off back then too nothing like he is now. Like anyone else he did things I didn’t agree with but he had good Mules and we all do things different. No harm no foul I would say.
I remember a woman making claims in early 2015. Though I felt for the woman I fully believed Max when he told me his side. Well wasn’t long after that I was in the Market for another mule. So of course I called my good friend Max up. Told what I was looking for and he said had the perfect. Now remember I had ridden with Max several times on his Mules and I was able to tell him which one I had rode that I was looking for the same type. Yea Yea Buddy I got ya. We agreed to price and got it shipped to me.
Shipper shows up on schedule also being a friend of mine and asked me when he got out the truck if I really bought this thing. Kinda stopped me dead in my tracks. Well I believe so Max said it was just like such and such Mule I had rode. He raised his eyebrows at me with a skeptical look. Come on man tell me what’s wrong with it? He just turned and started to the back of the trailer and said come see for your self.
Now all these stories that started to circulate around started going through my head and my guts started getting twisted. I kinda didn’t want to look. My buddy walks out with a 14.2 thin Mule. As my over 6 foot 265 pound self stood there looking at this poor creature that for some reason Max thinks is going to tote me through the mountains. I popped my phone out and hit Maxs number.
He answered on the 2nd ring. Hey Man the mule get there all right?
Well A mule got here but I think someone loaded the wrong one by accident.
What you mean he asked?
This mule is only 14.2 hands and is about 200 pounds under weight. Not that any that matters I can’t ride this thing my feet would drag the ground and it would it’s legs would buckle under my weight. Hell Max I think I weigh more then this thing does. Not to mention this animal is only would a couple hundred and not the thousands I paid.
Now wait just a minute there man you said you wanted a mule just like such and such.
Right Max that mule was 16 hands and 1200 pounds. This mule could ride on that mules back.
Needless to say we went back and forth for a bid. And he asked if my Buddy could bring it back and pick up a different one he had. He couldn’t right then but would swing back by in a couple days and do it.
Few days later when my Buddy was suppose to be picking up the 2nd mule he called me.
Brother you don’t want this one either.
Are you kidding me why not another small one?
No man this one is big enough just crazy as hell. I can’t even get it close to the trailer without it bolting.
What the heck man. Is Max there?
No man one of his lackeys is, Max is supposed to be on his way. But tell you the truth man there is nothing here I would say will work for you. I wouldn’t buy any of them anyway.

Well ma’am didn’t raise no dummies and I had used my Credit Card which I called them to find out my options. THANK GOD I had everything in written messages of the type of mule I wanted and pictures of the one I was riding to show the difference. Along with him taking the back the mule and admitted it wasn’t right I could file for reversal on the charge and get my money back. So with this information in hand I called Max to give him once last chance to make things right.
Long story short I’ no longer friends with Max and got my funds reversed. I’m out two shipping fees of a couple hundred. Luckily he only charged me for the gas. I don’t want to think what I would have paid for someone that wasn’t a friend.
I don’t believe in airing my dirty laundry on the internet but Max seems to. A few days later I started getting nasty messages about how I screwed Max over and stole money from him. No one wanted to hear my side. I got black balled from places. Someone sent me this report and I must day I am happy to see Karma is starting to catch up with this man. I agree with Jane completely. Do your research and make sure everything is in written. From what I am hearing I am one the few if not the only luckily one.

A few years ago I bought a Mule from Mr. Bishop. I had spent hours on the phone with him talking about my needs and what I expected in a Mule. I'm not going to go into much detail because i really don't want this nightmare to start up all over again and i don't want people to guess who I am for safety reasons. I went and met the couple Mules he had in mind. One I just fell in love with and spent 2 hours with. At the time I had no way to haul home. He said he would deliver which he did with in the week. I was so excited!!! My Child and I could now ride together.
However everything soon turned into the worst month of my life and I lost a years worth of savings and then some. The 2nd night I had the Mule it went crazy in its stall and literally kicked the wall down. It became aggressive towards my Childs pony and would bolt from then turn and charge at me. I was able to get it into the round pen. I called Mr. Bishop in tears on the 4th day and he asked me what I did to it? What???
I was completely dumbfounded. What do you mean? I didn't do anything. Only fed, brushed and put it in the stall at night letting it settle in. Well you had to do have done something because it was perfectly fine here. You saw that when you came out. I was so confused and hurt he would think I would do anything to make an animal act like that. The call ended when he said he had another call coming in he had to take.
The 5th day I had the vet out to see if we could find a medical reason. After 2 hours of trying to catch and dodging full barrel back feet and being charged at around the 60 ft round pen because I couldn't put it back in the stall, the vet gave up. Vet didn't think it was anything medical but more mental. Our next option if i couldn't get my hands on it in a few more days of settling and trying to use feed was going to be a Tranquilizer Gun.
7th day my Farrier who is a Mule man and also works with Mustangs came to give it a try. What I was going to do with it once we got it caught I don't know though. After an hour the Farrier told me being a signal parent and I couldn't afford to get hurt needlessly that it didn't need a trank Gun it needed a bullet. I was so heart broken. Just 2 weeks ago this was the perfect loving animal that rode like a dream. I called Mr. Bishop while my Farrier was standing there to tell him what was happening and needed him to come get the Mule and get my money back Minus the hauling fee.
He told my under no uncertain terms would he give me my money back even though he said if I wasn’t satisfied he would. He told me no that he would bring another one the mules I looked at but I would have to give him more money too. That my Vet and Farrier didn’t know what they were talking about. That there was nothing wrong with that Mule when it left his place. At which point my Farrier had a few choice words. I’m not going into detail on what happen next because then people could figure out who I am.
Needless to say The Guarantee option was renigged on. I gave the animal to a well known trainer after 8 weeks ended up having to put the animal down for safety reasons.
I made a few comments on my Face Book about my experience and mine and my Childs life turned upside down. I started receiving hateful nasty messages on Face Book. Any time I commented on anything anywhere I was attacked even if the post had nothing to do with Mr. Bishop or Mules. I ended up having to close My Face Book account and open another one under a different name. I was getting nasty phone calls all hours on my cell phone. My Child was receiving nasty vulgar calls while I was at work on the house phone. Because they were being made from a prepay minute card phone it couldn’t be traced to a person.
I had to change all the phone numbers and had to be careful who I gave them too. It was like I was a prisoner in my own home. Wondering when the phone rang or a strange car came down the road if it was one of them coming to follow through on the threats. Anyone that stuck up for me then got harrassed too. these people were insane!! Luckily I got a job back home in a different state and was able to start over. I am remarried with a new name and life is now good. I was able to find a Trust worthy loving mount and the whole family spends weekends riding.
No matter who you buy from please do your research and make sure you have everything in WRITING. I learned the hard way.
