One of the things that drew me to Rod's Appliance Service was his assurance that he was honest and upfront and the other was that once he gave someone an estimate and they approved the work he wouldn't "change the price". He was also big on promoting a cash discount but a cash discount was never really "disclosed".

So I asked him to come and give us an estimate. He diagnosed the problem and stated that with the "cash discount" and including the diagnostic fee(or trip charge) & part that my total cost would be $XX. I approved it but stupidly(I admit my mistake) didn't ask for that in writing before the work began. When he was finished as I went to pay him the work suddenly was $YY. No detailed breakdown, no explanation, no extra long work, nothing.

As he left he also stated he doesn't keep any records. WTH?? How do you run a business if you don't keep records. That if I needed to use my "warranty" I would have to have MY invoice to prove the work(well duh, I keep all my paperwork but why don't YOU keep records...now I understand where the "cash discount" comes in).

My advice... steer clear of this company and do even more research than I did(and I did a LOT). And of course, the simpler way is to get it in writing BEFORE authorizing any work.

An apparent isolated case of a misunderstanding

AUTHOR: Rod - ()

POSTED: Monday, December 22, 2014

An apparent isolated case of a misunderstanding from a customer who did not contact the Office regarding the alleged rippoff or even bothered to profide material facts such as Rods web site or the numbers in question or a sample of the invoice or what the work actually was and-

In consideration that Rod's appliance service was established in 1995, maintains a 5 star company rating at Tom Martino's (Consumer Advocate) troubleshooter web site, as well as an A+ rating at the Better Business Bureau web site and it appears this is the ONLY alleged 'rippoff' reported here in the twenty years since this company was established; it does appear this is an isolated case of an apparent misunderstanding such as:

Technician Quoted: “$160, including cash discount, to do job” but customer thought he/she heard $150 to do job and/or assumed a check or credit card is same as cash. And this alleged client claims to be in Arvada which is actually outside Rod's normal service area so is entirely possible this customer is not even reporting on the correct company or this report is utterly false on it's face for whatever reason(s).

Also: It appears that the customer may have confused Rod's privacy policy with records keeping.

Rod's privacy policy, in the interest of protecting clients as well as liability issues related to the warehousing of personal information belonging to clients, is as follows: Rod's Appliance Service does NOT keep personal information including names, addresses, phone numbers, account numbers, signatures and etcetera.

And as far as Rod's personal records keeping is concerned; this is certainly a private matter per private contracts and non-disclosure agreements. And, of course, client is not in a position to dictate how somebody else might run their own business or construct their own contracts.

And, yes, company policy is typical for warranty claims and does require proof of claim such as client must produce the invoice which is their proof the work was performed and a warranty is in force for two years.

For more information see: rodscontracts.com

And if you are a consumer that has ANY problem with Rod's Appliance Service; there are proper channels for settling whatever problem you might decide to have with the contract including the original Offer, Acceptance, Performance or Consideration.

And, yes, this does include price. Not only does Rod honor his two year warranty, as well as his customer satisfaction guaranty, he ALSO offers a price beat guaranty of $20 less than any verifiable quote from any other established company for the same services, same parts, same warranty and same service area. Simply provide the written quote from the other company or other proof such as a conference call with the other company and Rod will beat their price by $20 on a case by case basis one time. (no price bidding wars.)

No evidence of rippoff

AUTHOR: Rod - ()

POSTED: Friday, December 19, 2014

I, Rod, just discovered this very OLD report that is actually missing a LOT of critical information such as dollar amounts, job performed, or whether or not this particular client (alleged) actually made any attempt to notify me of any dispute so that I may resolve whatever problem he decided to have with my performance, company, or company policy.

Such as my privacy policy to NOT save client information, including names, addresses, phone numbers, signatures and account numbers. To save such information is a HUGE liability for ANY company. All you have to do is ask Target or Amazon about those particular cases when massive amounts of their client information was stolen from these and many other companies.

Please be advised this company was founded in 1995 and does maintain a 5 star rating at the famous consumer advocate web site known as " www.troubleshooter.com " as well as an A+ rating at the Better Business Bureau web site.

And, yes, I do require that my clients produce the original invoice for a warranty claim, per common commercial practices, and this is printed on the face of the invoice along with the two year warranty on all services.

And I will let you make up your own mind regarding the rest of the presumtptions, assumptions, or implied faults brought by this alleged customer without any name, numbers, or details of this specifc job and case for me to settle peacefully.

I have a customer satasifaction gauranty, a full two year warranty, as well as a cash discount and even a price beat gauranty for any verifiable quote from any other location in my service area of the Denver metro area and easthern plains of Colorado.

I am here to help you with your appliance repair needs and IF there is a complaint, there are certainly proper channels to handle this forthwith. :)

So; IF there actually is a complaint; I will settle it immediately... And IF this person did go through proper channels, such as call me directly or through Tom Martino's resolution Contract with me, then his problem was already solved nearly ten years ago...

And, BTW, Arvada Colorado is actually outside my service area!  So I seriosly doubt this is even one of my clients because my service area actually STOPS and goes no further west than Federal Blvd which is far East of Arvada...

See "service area" map on my web site at www.rodscontracts.com

SO, Mr. "Rippoff Report", did you DO YOUR JOB to contact me regarding these very serious allegations being supported for so many years on your web site?

Or did you merely let them hang out there (for nearly ten years) or, otherwise, advertised what appears to be a FALSE report; thus causing on-going and continuing commercial injuries and DAMAGES against the innocent?

I forgive you.

Can you forgive me?

Kindest regards;

Rodney.
