On October 6th, 2014 workers from Roof Top Services of Central Florida trespassed onto my property at 1125 Shadowbrrook Trail in Winter Springs, FL and commenced to remove and destroy my roof without permission or knowledge on my behalf.

At 9:29am on Monday, October 6th, 2014 I was contacted by phone from a Norman Wingate, owner of Roof Top Srevice sOf Cenral Florida. Norman stated to me that he mistakenly gave his crew the wrong address of service and that a portion of my roof had been ripped off and destroyed. He then went on to offer me a 'Great Deal' on a new roof for a low cost of $7,000-$9,000. I informed Norman that my home has been on the market for sale listed on the MLS. And that I have already made the necessary repairs on my home to get it ready for listing on the market. I informed him that I currently had no roofing issues or leaks and that a re-roof wasn't anything that I was remotely considering. He then offered me a 'Patch' job where he would place new shingle of a different variety and color alongside my current shingles. He stated that my shingles were no longer in production and that we could not achieve a match for a good aesthetic appearance. I stated that I didn't want a two-toned roof on a home that was listed for sale, as it would be a definite red-flag to any interested purchasers. I then asked him if this might be something that I would need to get an attorney's advice and opinion on, and he stated, "Oh no, I will fully replace your roof at my expense since I was the party at fault before we'd need to get any attorney's involved.

On Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 I received an email from his wife, Kristal Wingate, president of Roof Top Services of Central FL. They offered what they regard as three very generous offers for me to choose from. (1) Replace my roof at their out-of-pocket expense of $6,200 charged to me (2) Re-roof my home, then record a lien in the amount of $9,400 due upon the sale and closing of my property (3) Repair only the area of shingles that were destroyedand removed, then offer the purchaser of the property the same deal as listed in (1).

On the same day I responded to their offer in writing that there offers were unacceptable as their company was the party at fault. I requested a new roof. On the following day, October 9, 2014 I received a message for Kristal Wingate that they would provide a 'Roof-over' only if I would agree to exchange the work with a full general release and waiver of all warranties.

I spoke with several other reputable roofing companies in the Central FL area within 24 hours. I responded to Mrs. Wingate on October 10, 2014, stating that after speaking with the other roofing companies, a Roof-over was something that was not performed or recommended by any of these companies. They gave several reasons of risks associated with this process such as pooling of water between roof surfaces, leakage issues and a shorter length of life of the roof in general.

I then asked again for  total roof replacement. Less than an hour after that contact, I was contacted by their attorney, Trenton Cottney. He directed me that any further contact regarding this matter would be solely between attorney's. I then hired an attorney to represent me in this matter. After 2-1/2 weeks of no progress and a partial roof, we filed a judgement against Roof Top Services in the Court system.

AUTHOR: Susie - ()

POSTED: Friday, January 09, 2015

“I would like to formally retract my previous complaint against Roof Top Services of Central Florida.  After I was able to fully communicate all the issues with the owners of Roof Top Services, the company immediately resolved all my concerns.  Roof Top Services worked quickly to correct the misunderstandings between myself and the company.  As a result, I now have a fully functioning and watertight roofing system.  Once I was able to correctly explain my concerns to Mr. Norman Wingate and Mrs. Kristal Wingate, they provided fast and efficient customer service as well as excellent workmanship on the final product. I hereby retract my complaint against Roof Top Services of Central Florida.”
