My fiance and I purchased a 7-piece living room set and chair from The RoomStore on 5/29/10 by debit card. We were told at that time by the sales person that the particular set we were purchasing was not currently in stock, but that it would arrive the week of 5/30/10 and that our furniture would be delivered no later than 6/6/10. I asked the sales person several times (about 3 different times) "are you sure we will receive our furniture by Sunday 6/6/10" (because that was very important to us and determined whether we would purchase our furniture there or at Mor Furniture Store instead) and he said "yes, I'm sure." He went on to tell us that we would receive a phone call from them sometime that week to set-up a delivery time as well. By Thursday 6/3/10, I had not heard from anyone at the store regarding the delivery, so I called and was told that the furniture was actually not expected in their store until 6/6/10-6/12/10 which means that I may not even receive the furniture that week either. My fiance and I in the meantime sold our old couch and chair to someone (leaving us with just a love seat in our home) believing that we would be receiving our furniture by Sunday 6/6/10 as promised by The RoomStore. I spoke to the Manager Brent on 6/4/10 and was told by him that he still could not give us a delivery date and that we could come back into the store to pick out another set at the same price (if in stock). If we wanted another set at that same price, we wouldn't have purchased the one we purchased! That is not a resolution to this problem. I was 9 months pregnant at the time, due very soon and had no furniture to lay on comfortably during my last few weeks of pregnancy thanks to The RoomStore. The RoomStore is obviously using unethical selling practices by telling customers what they want to hear in order to get a sale. They LIED in my face. I contacted Call 12 For Action because I didn't want any other consumers to have to go through this same thing because it isn't right. Especially when we had already paid for our furniture UP FRONT (no credit/financing). I would have canceled the furniture order, but we really liked the furniture and could not purchase somewhere else until we received a credit back on our debit card, which as you know, can take 2-3 days. Then we'd have to go to another store and still possibly wait more time for delivery. Only after Call 12 for action contacted them did they call me the next day (trying to be extra friendly) and get my furniture to me. Why did it take the news station calling them for them to get my furniture to me? DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE UNETHICAL SALES CREEPS!!! Their furniture is crap anyway. We've only had the furniture 4 months and the cushions are already going flat. I can also feel wood on the arms of the couch. PURCHASE YOUR FURNITURE ELSEWHERE!!!
