ROSS-SIMONS The company advertised a 18kt gold omega necklace w/20% discount and shipped 14kt gold necklace Cranston Rhode Island

I ordered a 18kt gold 9mm omega necklace from Ross-Simons that they had advertised as 595.00 w/20% discount. I ordered the necklace using a bill me later credit that was also advertised in their website.

The problem was not until later when I went back in to check the status and noticed upon closer inspection that the item showed in it's description that it was 14kt gold. The initial ad still stated 18kt gold. I called the 800# to verify this because I was going to cancel the order if in fact it was 14kt gold. I was assured that it was 18kt gold and that the description was put in wrong.

When I finally got the necklace that was back ordered for over a month. I inspected with a magnifying glass and found it to be 14kt gold. I immediatly called the 800# again and that is when I was told it was only 14kt gold. I asked why I was lied to before and the supervisor told me that it was a mistake. I told her it was not a mistake because customer service even put be on hold so she could check with the manufacturer and that is when she came back and confirmed it was 18kt gold. They did take the necklace back but I could have bought another gift and got it back before xmas. I wasted a lot of time on this.

My case in point is this was not a mistake and they continue to advertise this necklace as 18kt gold. I wonder how many people bought this and did not inspect the necklace trusting that it is 18kt gold. The stamp was weak and an older person might not be able to read it.

This is clearly false advertisement.
