On July 5th 2015 i started my "2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 Duramax" in my home Driveway, the engine started Knocking violently so i turned it right back off, i opened the hood and looked around to see what was going on. i called my Extended warranty Company "Route 66" and told them about the truck knocking violently, they sent a tow truck and than asked where i wanted my truck to be towed to. i sent my truck to the Chevy service Deartment knowing they are only the best. when my truck arrived at the dealer they put it in the service shop and i got a call the next day from the chevy dealer service manager saying my warranty company wants them to find out whats wrong with the engine and they want the engine PULLED. so i said alright, after chevy pulled my engine they discovered that the #7 piston had shattered and the conecting rod had went through the lifter valey in the block. i was pretty shocked and called my warranty cmpany "Route 66" i asked them what they were planning to do, they said they were sending an adjuster to the dealer to see the engine. that was 6 days ago.

Route 66 warranty company calls me today and says they will not cover anything because i have a "Performance exhaust" on the truck. i was in SHOCK and said what performance exhaust? because i had never put that on my truck. they said i had a after market exhaust that voids the warranty of my "Full drive terrain coverage" and they were NOT covering anything.  i think the previous owner put a bigger muffler on for tone and thats what they saw under the truck. so now i am in the wind with a $2,345.00 Labor bill from the chevy dealer for pulling the engine.... my truck is in Pieces... and the Extended warranty that i had paid so much money for has SCREWED me over.

I looked through my Contact Agreement with Route 66 and it doesnt say ANYTHING about exhaust voiding anything. all it says is engine modification voids coverge. I have hired a Insurance Attorney today and looking to take the next step with this warranty company.

This company "Route 66 Extended Warranty" was quick to bail out on me because the cost of the new engine and labor was to much for their greedy asses. The Fight is not over yet.

BEWARE of this warranty company... they are FULL OF **** !!!!

The Catalatic converter is on the truck, the muffler has nothing to do with back pressure on the engine, Route 66 warranty company just wouldnt cover the repair because of the High Cost. Thats a RIPOFF ! and leaves me stranded with the truck still in peices in the service department at chevy thats a RIPOFF, i found out today after looking at my Warranty agreement contract when i bought the truck that i paid $2,583.60 for the DELUX full coverage warranty. it does not say anything about a MUFFLER or EXHAUST voiding the warranty thats a RIPOFF. The warranty company had my truck towed to the chevy dealer, they had chevy pull my truck apart to see what part failed on the engine, than after the adjuster found out how much chevy wanted for the repair the warranty company made up any reason to bail out of the repair and labor cost....RIPOFF.

Thanks for YOUR input SMART *** but this whole experiance has been a RIPOFF !!

Route 66 extended Warranty will screw you over big time !!

Well isnt a modified muffler a part of an engine modification?? Its NOT that the warranty company is a ripoff, its just that YOUR issue isnt covered due to something that was done to the vehicle. YOUR warranty is STILL in effect, its just NOT going to cover YOUR current issue. While yes it sucks that YOU will have to pay to repair YOUR vehicle, its NOT a ripoff. YOU might be able to argue with the company that sold YOU the truck as THEY shouldnt have sold YOU an insurance YOU cant really use. But a sales persons job doesnt require that they know each and every vehicle and if that vehicle has modified parts on it. Its one of those unfortunate events in our lives where we get boned and we cant really do anything about it. Its frustrating and annoying BUT ITS NOT A RIPOFF!!!!
