A ripoff of a grand scale.

This is a time share scam being run out of the Maya Riviare (Cancun) area of Mexico. I cannot comment on any other sites that this company may own / operate.

The idea is to entice the unknowing tourist in the Cancun, Mexico area to partake in a "tour" of the property some 50+ miles down the Riviare coast line.  Once you agree to partake, here is what happens:

1.) You are picked up where you are presently ataying and taken to the site of the condo complex.

2.) Once there, you are "assigned" a "guide" whose job it is to spend 2-3 hours with you convincing you to buy a time share. You are promiced a good breakfast 9which we did receive after being herassed for 2 hours. GREAT FOOD!!!

3.) Then, as the 1st "sdalesperson" was unable to convince you to buy / buy / buy you are handed over to another "salesperson" of higher rank.  We were still unconvinced that we got true value for our money asking for particulars that DID NOT seem to be forthcoming. My working experience gave me an advanced grounding in numbers. Their numberrs did not add up.

4.) By now it is mid afternoon and you are confronted not by another "salespwrson" but 2 of them. "What if we did this for only you guys?" That is their method of getting you further into their properties. "We will give you, and only you a bonus if you bujy NOW".

5.) Once you are able to convince them that you are not interested, they give you to an final "stab at the cat" type who takes you to an area of departure you are not familiar with and finally dump you. We asked for assistance / directions of the area that would get us back to Cancun (as mentioned some 50+ miles away). We did not gat help. We finally did find the boarding area BUT were refused access to any free return transportation as we did not have the "proper pass". We were not alone in that respect as other tourists were in the same boat.

The free return transportation was promiced (as well as a free gift for the time spent at the complex) but it appears gthat if you do not agree to purchase a time share, no gift / no free transportation.

WE ended up paying $100.00US to get back to our Cancun comdo. This would have been doubled but we were able to share the expense 50/50 with another couple tghat was stranded as we were.

Yes, unfortunately Mayan Palace is one of the most fraudulent resorts!! I also had a bad experience with them, the way they treated me, and all the lies i've heard.
The worst thing is that once you fall into their scam tactics it's almost impossible to get out.
Here's a list of complaints about this resort i've found recently,
you should take a look:
Don't give up, i still have hope that sooner or later we are going to make a difference against those thieves.

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: SBrittany - ()

On the surface, a Mayan Palace timeshare might look like an excellent value because one gets to share ownership of a property he or she might not otherwise have been able to afford alone. However, when all the payments, fees, and taxes are added up which must be paid toward their timeshares, they would have saved money by taking a traditional vacation instead.

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

I agree with you. The resorts are beautiful and first-class level, but just because of the timeshare hassle, there's no way that I would ever stay there. I recommend you to read this article about the company and how to get out of a scam: Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam
