Royal Prestige AKA Hy Cite Potential RIP OFF Lynbook New York

My fiance and I were called earlier this week with the same proposition as many of you who have complained received. The whole, come see are presentation and you will receive a trip and a $500 online gift certificate to All we had to do was go see this presentation, blah, blah, blah.... We went to the presentation on 11-4-05 at 6pm.

After going to see Jordan Gerardi present the Royal Prestige cookware and china presentation we sat down with hime afterward. We were initially impressed. We couldn't afford the packages they set forth so we asked if they had something smaller. He said they did and that we could pay them monthly. I asked him if this was like financing through the company and he outright said NO and that the reference info was just so that they had some way to get a hold of us if we didn't pay them. After explaining to us that we could have the set for only $50/month, my fiance and I fell for this stupid fraud. I hate to say that we fell for it. We left after filling out the contract and leaving a deposit paid with my fiance's credit card.

That night we felt like we had made a good purchase, but on Saturday Nov. 5th I woke up with an uneasy feeling. I decided to do some research on the company. All I found out was negative information and even on this website I found a complaint about Jordan Gerardi. I found out through these complaints that the back of the contract has a cancellation form. After speaking with my fiance we decided we both had an uneasy feeling about this and decide to go ahead and send the cancellation form. We also feel deceived b/c the "payment plan" as I have learned from previous complaints, carries an interest rate of 24%, which Mr. Jordan did not disclose to us. My fiance has also cancled his credit card that we placed the deposit on. My hopes are that this deposit hasn't gone through. I sent the cancellation form on sat Nov 5th via express mail and have the receipt to track it, so it should be there on monday by 3pm as I was told.

I plan to stay on top of this by checking into it on monday, as the cancellation form states we have 3 business days to cancel. I have another copy of the contract. I am hoping and praying that this will be cancelled, something told me to look up info on this company saturday morning and I sure am glad that I did. I also plan to file complaints with the BBB, consumer affairs and the attorney general's offices of NC and NY if I have to. My fiance and I have worked too hard to repair our credit to have it ruined by these people.

I don't know how these people sell this stuff and take advantage of young engaged couples and are still able to sleep at night. It's unbelievable. I hope they get what the deserve.

I will update this page on Monday after we find out that the cancellation form has made it to RP. I also plan on going to the local news station in Raleigh and file a consumer report so that their reputation will be damaged in Raleigh, NC.
