rual metro transfered me from request from va. they collected from medicare and sent a bill to va also. va didnot respond so they are trying to collect from me also

Medicare

 There is no rip off here.  Medicare only pays for 80% of the cost for ambulance services and then only after you have paid your annual deductible.   Therefore you will have pay for  20% of the cost (more if you have not met your deductible).  

All of this should be clearly spelled out on your  Medicare Summery Notice. 

As far as the VA goes you need to talk to the "fee basis" department at the VA facility you were treated.   They are  ones who will be able to help you get rest of this paid.  The VA as I am sure you know is notoriously slow in paying for these things,
