For anyone giving props to Russell Simmons for another money making venture off his people look no further, the Rush Card/Baby Phat prepaid card is another money making and money stealing service. In purchasing this card the conveniences seemed to be awesome.
I loaded the card and went using it. Finally, in my embarassment I went to the store to get $17.65 worth of stuff only to be declined. I knew I had at least $18.00 and some change left but couldn't understand why it wouldn't go through.
Well EACH TIME you use your card, as a debit or credit you are charged a dollar so you have to have at least a dollar more than what you are trying to purchase. Ripoff??? No doubt.
If you have say $500 on your card and you want to make 30 or more purchases, the advertised "low" loading fees and bragging of "no" monthly fees is crap and you end up paying more for your purchases than most places charge as a monthly fee. You think Russell Simmons knew this? No doubt. The amount charged everytime you use the card is absurd and a strait up rip off!!!
When I used the card to obtain a membership on an ancestry website trial membership, I ended up paying $1 for a service I was supposed to get for free. DO NOT GET THIS CARD!! IT IS A RIP OFF!!

I called rush card myself and the customer service sounded like they did not want to tell me that they charged $1.00 everytime you purchased something. She said Yes very low and weird.

Your statement is about 99% accurate. You neglected to mention that the consumer is only charged a maximum of $10/month in fees toward purchases. So basically, your first 10 purchases, using the card, will have the $1 fee added. After that, you are free to use the card without fees, for the rest of your fiscal month. Pending on how much you loaded. The Rush/Baby Phat card is by far better card compared to others that have lots of hidden fees. THIS IS NOT A CREDIT CARD!

I too have a Russell Simmons Baby Phat Rush Card. If you check your included information it tells you of all your charges that will be made for each usage. This card is not a rip off and I appreciate Mr. Simmons giving us the ability to regain our credit after bankruptcy due to health issues.
There are no hidden fees. He is upfront with his charges. The only problem that I have encountered is that you can only use $1000 in a 24 our period. But this is for my protection and I appreciate that also.
For me this has been a great opportunity. I give Mr. Simmons a big kudos.
