I was completely scammed by these people, specifically "Robbie". I was told that they had been given my name by a credit reporting agency because I had gotten my credit in order and that I would receive a card with 5000.00 limit, 250.oo shopping spree and a 3 day 2 night trip anywhere I wanted and they would pay. He was extremely persistent even though I had continuously stated "NO". I asked a million questions and he answered them all.

Even though I was leary I was somewhat interested after discussing until it came time for verification. He stated that it would be a recorded confirmation but it was manually recorded. He was able to erase any answer that would or could be used as a NO.

The recording asked for the last 4 digits of the Protel phone number and he put in mine. I told him I was not interested in phone service he said that it was only to verify "me" as the customer for the credit card.
The recording asked for my phone number, I sad IDT(then my number), he erased the answer and re-recorded it stating that I could tell them I didn't want the service at the end of verification.

A customer service number was given regarding phone service and when I answered "not interested in service" he made a comment and said "is that a no?" I heard someone in the background telling him something and he put his hand over the phone.

I stopped answering the verification and told him I decided I wasn't interested but he told me it was too late that I had already received my confirmation number (probably the same as everyone else's because he kept hitting the repeat button and how can you have a computer repeat a computer generated number - ***6666) and that I could cancel when my bank calls to verify the automatic debit. (my bank never questions my automatic debits)

I told him I wanted him to record me stating that I would only pay after I had an approved credit card in my hand and he told me I couldnt do that the system could only record select information.

I am embarassed for allowing myself to be taken the way I did even after seeing all the flags popping up. I now see that I am not the only one. There is stregnth in numbers and if anyone needs me to witness this fraud and harassment I will gladly offer my help. I am calling my bank first thing in the morning to see if I can stop payment on the 22nd of October. Hopefully I won't have to close out my bank account, Ive had it for 20 years now. If anyone knows of any other company or service or agency I can complain to please let it be known.

Spoke to Protel Customer Service this morning at 1800-634-2979. I informed them that I did not want their service but believed I was scammed into accepting. They claim they are unaware of RX Financial's fradulent tactics and that they are independent of that company but will file a repot. I also informed them that it was my understanding that others have been charged for their service through RX Financial and they in turn informed me to let these people know that they need to cal:
Protel Customer Service at 1-800-634-2979 to file a complaint and to cancel service even if service hasn't started yet.
