we had a quote from safe and sound for $195 two weeks in advance to our move. i even spoke with the service rep and he said the $195 would be pretty accurate. we even changed the move from 2pm to 1pm so we can beat or at least limit friday commute traffic (since we know that it's 2x driving charge) which they didn't mention over the phone. after 2 hours of waiting, we received NO phone calls. we decided to call them. they said they'll contact the driver and will let us know.
after another hour, we had to contact them again. at that time, theysaid they'll send ANOTHER moving team out. after ANOTHER hour of waiting, we contacted them again and they said they didn't know why it's taking so long. the 1st original driver then called and said he got into a car accident (which ironically he didn't report back to the dispatch central office since they said they didnt know what happened). finally after 5 (FIVE) hours of wait, the 2nd moving team showed up and quoted a drive time of 4 hours (with traffic).
i spoke with central dispatch. he told me that with his 16 years of experience, that a 1pm move time and a 6pm move time would be facing the same kind of traffic and berated me over the phone. so not only did we have to wait 5 hours for ourmove, we're looking at an almost 2x increase in their initial quote (due to traffic) which was their own fault because they were late. of course, they said we can use another company, but at that point, which moving company would be available to do a move with such late notice when everything is in boxes and we planned to be out that same day.
