I had a policy with Safe Auto Insurance Company for six months and everything went fine. At the end of the six month policy I was sent a renewal notice and sent in my first payment for the renewal policy. That is when everything went haywire!

I got an email one night from Safe Auto, about two weeks after I sent in first payment for my renewal policy, stating that my payment was past due and I could make an instant payment online by credit card or check. I knew I was up to date so I immediately called and told the CSR I had already sent in a payment by check. The CSR told me that the payment was received late by them and sent back to me. She told me my policy was cancelled and could not be reinstated even if I made an instant payment because I would have to start all over now, even though I just got an email asking for an instant payment.

I was angry about not having insurance coverage, but I thought well, the post office must of delivered my payment late and I would get it back in the mail and get me new insurance with another company. I never got the check back, so I emailed Safe Auto and asked them about it and the Internet CSR emailed me back saying they never received a check at all. I told him I was told by phone CSR that it was sent back to me, but he said they never got any payment at all from me and they did not send anything back to me.

I called my bank and verified that my check had never been cashed. It had not so I just purchased new insurance with a new company. Before I started having problems with Safe Auto I referred my mother to them when she got a new car. My mother called on the phone and used automatice check payment to get instant coverage. She got full coverage and paid a big down payment. After a couple of weeks she had not gotten her policy in the mail so she called them. She was told her policy was cancelled. She asked them why in the world did they cancel her policy. They said it came back to them because it was sent to the wrong address and they cancelled it. They never called her, they did not refund her down payment and when my mother told them it was not her fault they had the wrong address they still would not reinstate her policy or refund her money. I told my mother that they could pull the call of when she first talked to them and see that it was the CSR who entered her address incorrectly and not my mother telling her the wrong address.

They told my mother they could not do that. They did not have access to her call, but I know that was a lie. My call was pulled after I emailed Safe Auto and the Internet CSR knew exactly what the phone CSR had told me. He knew she told me my check was sent back to me, but he said the phone CSR made a mistake and they never got my payment at all. Most phone centers record their calls. It is all computerized and automated. Safe Auto told my mother they could not pull calls. That was a lie! I know becuase they did it when they researched my account. I know because I used to work in a call center as a customer service rep and I know how the system works.

Not only does Safe Auto lie to its customers, they rip them off by not using fair practices or being ethical. I mean you spend several hundred dollars for insurance like my mother did and then you find out it was cancelled because the CSR entered the wrong address? What sense does that make? Is Safe Auto just hiring people who do not know what they are doing? or is Safe Auto just ripping people off? They tried to get me and my mother to get new policies with them. They wanted us both to just "start all over"? Is that so they can make more money with down payments? What is Safe Auto's problem??? How can they legally keep down payment when they never contacted my mother by phone or mail that her policy was sent back to them becuase it had the wrong address on it?? Safe Auto should change their name to Screw People Auto!!
