Safelite Auto Glass Safelite sells Chinese windshields represented as USA made Peoria, Arizona

Yesterday I called Safelite's 877 number to get a quote for a windshield.   I told them I was paying cash, not an insurance claim.   They quoted me an acceptable price....not great, not bad.    I very empahatically told them I do not want a chinese made junk product.    Their rep. went on ad on about how, "Oh, no, Sir, our windshields are made in South Carolina, no chinese."

So I said ok, and scheduled the appt for today with their Peoria, Arizona location.   The technician asked for the car key to take my car inside their shop.   I said, first I want to see the windhshield.   So he took me back to see it sitting on a rack.   Right there on it, the mfr. label said "Made in China."   

I went back in the office and told them I had been assured it was a made in USA (S. Carolina)windhshield.  They responded by saying, well, we can get one here.   I told them after I've been lied to, why would I trust you?    I told them I set aside time to come to their shop for the appt, and then I get lied to about the product, and now you want me to come back again?

 My business went to their competitor.   I have a Ford, so I ordered a Carlite brand windshield from another glass shop.    Carlite is supposedly the OEM replacement glass for Fords, and not that much more expensive than the chinese junk.

You really have to beware when talking to lying sales people.    If you don't want chinese junk, then make sure you check the mfr's labeling to ensure it is what is was represented to be.  

My complaint is more about the Safelite Co. itself, rarther than the shop I went to.   I don't believe the shop is who took my call yesterday and then lied about the product.  I think it was a call center.

But after that, why would I take them up on their offer to find one made in USA and have me come back?   Would they just slap a different label on the chinese sub-standard product?    I don't know, but when the co. lies for from the get-go, who would I trust them again.

Avoid Safelite Glass.
