first of all i believe there is saint matthews churches all over the u,s,  that do good work for the Lord.  how can some one degrade the good name of this church by sending out these letter,  that if you send a donation and return parts of their letter,  that they will pray for you and good things will happen.    i pray to the Lord 10  to 15 times aday and go to church 3 times a week and pray.  it doesn't cost me a thing to have my prayers answered.  but some older folks that are in need might be taken under by this rip off.  some one needs to stop this.  i have been getting these letter each week and sometimes twice a week for sometime now.  where did they get my address???

the scam

To anybody who would dare say that there is any potential 'gods work' via this scam.

There is never any reason to send money to increase ones blessing.

Blessings do not increase per you giving $$ to a cause...  you only think it will.

Fact is, if you want to throw $$ away, give it to me or to a legitimate local 'real' chariety or to known needy person (not a person on a corner who might very well not need $$ anyway).

dont forget that at least in my city, that for years, many of the beggars at street corners in our city (50% per a tv station here) were fake.  In NY, in the 90's it was proven for a fact that nearly half of the beggars were wealthy people pretendign to be broke or homeless.

Best example was one who wrote books on how to beg for $$ and avged about $200k a year on begging alone.

I am happy that you spotted this fraudulent and disgusting outfit as a scam.  They have been around a long time and the reason they keep doing it is because religious suckers keep sending them money.

I don't pray at all because I don't believe in it but you are correct that it doesn't cost anything.

Why people send these people money is beyond my comprehension.  If people feel some desire to donate to a religious organization, give it to a small local church that's trying to help people in the community.

Just ignore them or return the envelopes empty so they have to pay postage.
