Hi all, I am a former employee at SLM who left because I was disgusted by their business tactics. I will say no more because I do not wish to be identified ( these are NOT nice people you are dealing with here). I can tell you for a fact that over 50% of the loans for Ameritrain were NEVER DISBURSED. Ask them to show proof of disbursal, if you can, at the arbitration hearings (they will likely not have to comply, as the arbitrors are hired by and work for SLM, thus have no interest in being fair - just have an interest in keeping those paying them happy). However - there is one thing you can do to bring your issue to light. This will be hard, but trust me, this is the thing they fear the kost, because they have no defense against this. Find a way to get a third party to go after SLM for criminal conduct.

Remember, you signed an arbitration clause, but law enforcement agencies did not. Continue to call the FTC, local, regional, state, national government agencies. Continue to file complaints - make sure you try to find a way to press charges...if you succeed the arbitration clause will be worthless. Here's one tidbit I bet you all haven't tried, and one which SLM fears: Report them to the USPS for Mail Fraud. They are attempting to illegally collect from you, and have used the mail to do so. They have used the mail to send you the letters in which they illegaly threaten your credit (illegal because they dont have a valid claim). And it is likely that they have illegally used the USPS to send information to the credit bureaus. The USPS is one agency that they do not currently have a "bought lackey" at - this is what makes them nervous. Like I said, not easy - but what have you got to lose. Report them for mail fraud.

Call your friends, have everyone involved report them ther for this, and have everyone you can think of continue to report them to the FTC aand the FBI. If you get ONE person's attention, they may file an investigation, and then you will topple the giant. Trust me - they will neer come after you in open court if they think you will put up a fight. Their is alot more I cannot disclose that they have done behind the scenes related to these tech loans. Find a way to get the knowledge. Knowledge is power. And trust me on the mail fraud thing - it will not win the war for you, but it could get the ball rolling (think about how many times when one agency begins to investigate something, many others jump in - and realize also that anything the USPS finds that does not relate to their case but hints at illegal activities thay are legally bound to report to the proper authorities, and whomever they report it to must look into it.) Good luck folks! Down with SLM!
