They have fixed my door on the june 19th and on june 28th we called them that the door fell off and they would not come even to take a look!!!! They told us that we would have to pay them again to fix the door. Less than 2 weeks, and they could not even tell us that they would come look to see if it was their fault that the door broke, they just kept telling us if they go there, they would have to charge us to fix!!!!!

Beware of this company. they even charge more than what they quote on the phone!!!!!

#5 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Info from am insider...

AUTHOR: Christine - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, January 09, 2005

While I listed myself as an "ex-employee", I am actually an "ex-consultant" for "Garage Door Services", aka America's Choice Overhead Garage Door Service Company, which *may* be this company.

I would have checked such a box, if it existed, but it didn't, so I checked the one that was
closest to my position.

First, let me say that there appears to be TWO national companies which do garage door installation and repair, and they both use the same "business model". One of them, Precision Door Service (PDS), appears to be based out of Florida. The other one, Garage Door Service (GDS), is based out of San Diego. I am an ex-consultant of GDS, and I can speak definitively about them.

It is *really* difficult to tell which one of these 2 companies ripped you off, as they *both* use multiple aliases, and even use EACH OTHER's names, in some areas! In the case of GDS, it is also composed of at least 4 different companies, which I believe they shuffle assets between. This makes it VERY difficult to tell which one got you, or to shut them down.

The *easiest* way to get your money back is if you used a credit card to pay them, contest the charge. If you got taken by GDS, the credit card company won't hasssle them, it will just eat the money, because GDS reciently worked out a *sweetheart* deal with them.

If you didn't get your money from contacting the state contractor's license board, like the previous posting suggested, try bad dash justgaragedoors dot com, and you can contact me there. I may be able to give you some useful info.

I have spent 4 months this year (2004) working closely with one of the owners of GDS. His name is Thomas ("Tommy") McGraith, and he is responsible for the computer systems the company uses. He lives in San Diego, CA, with his pregnant girlfriend, and works out of GDS's offices there. He rules the day-to-day operations of GDS with an iron fist. All the dispatchers and techs are scared to death of him, and with good reason. He has no patience for mistakes, including his own, and he has no problem using a "scape goat" when needed. He also physically threatens his employees, and in at least one case I know of has followed thru with the threats.

You'll love this... send them copies of your paid invoice

AUTHOR: Precision Expossed - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 29, 2004

Well, we all know this is another PDS. However what the poster may not know is that this particular name they use had their license suspended in 2001 or 2002. They claim that they have no employees or do any work. Well, I guess that isn't the case. This will help, go to www.cslb.ca.gov and look this up. After doing such file a complaint and send them copies of your paid invoice for the service provided, you'll get you money back.
