Child Protective Services is a joke. They take away children when they shouldn't and leave children who are actually being abused in the hands of the abusers. I never knew how screwed up the system was until my three nephews were the victims and brushed under the rug of, "child protective services."

My nephews ages 14, 9 and 6, have encountered numerous incidents of domestic violence by their mother and her boyfriend of 9 months and who is not the father of any of my nephews. The boyfriend's rage spilt over onto my nephews and mainly targeted the 6yr old. I didn't know the extent of the things going on to those boys until 3 months ago when my mother in law finally got Cps to listen and check on the boys.

The investigators specifically stated in their reports that no contact should be made between the boyfriend and the boys or they will be removed. A few days later I saw my nephews at a bus stop some 20 miles away from where they lived. I gave them a ride to their mothers place and out of the 9yr olds mouth he said the boyfriend had still continued to reside with them but told the boys not to say anything when Cps made their visits. The 14 yr old nudged him and told him to be quiet. I told my mother in law, she called the case worker numerous times and a day or two later got a response.

Cps made a surprise visit and low and behold the boyfriend was there. The boys were placed with mother in law for the next 90 days. Cps has photos of the youngest child where he had old and new bruises on his back, butt, groin. How can a 39 yr old man get away with kicking a 6 yr old boy in the groin repeatedly and not get a single thing done to him. The youngest boy stated to the Cps worker, that same night when they were removed, that he would kick and punch him when he was asleep on different occasions. The boys have pleaded to the case workers with each visit that they do not want to go back with their mother or any man she calls her boyfriend.

The boyfriend has served time in the penitentiary for family violence on 3 separate incidents not including drug and robbery charges. Everything mentioned of the boyfriends past legal history is documented in public records.So why is Cps taking his side? He is nothing to these children but hid mothers boyfriend. Why does he have a say so in these children's lives?

My nephews mother has gone and visited 3 times in the 3 months since the boys have been in the custody of their grandmother. She has provided nothing for them when she collects social security benefits for the youngest child and food stamps for herself. Cps made her go through parenting classes that she has not finished to this day.

Cps gave my nephews false hope stating that Cps had sent the paperwork to courts to remove their mothers parental rights. Cps has now sent a new case worker who works with a different agency to give counseling to the family meaning my nephews, their mother and her boyfriend. How is another 90 days going rehabilitate a mother who makes poor judgements repeatedly for herself and the kids and a man who's criminal rap sheet that began in his teens and which continues to this day. He's out on bond for something he did a month ago, a DWI.

I don't get the system. Do one of my nephews have to end up badly beaten to the point where one of them ends up in the hospital or does one of them have to sacrifice thier own life when Cps places them in hands of the boyfriend? Their grandmother, my husband and I are at our wits end and do not know what else to do for these boys but be there voice since the system does not want to listen them.
