SBBT issued me a cashier's check for my income tax return,when i got the check i call the phone no. on the check thinkingthis was how to contact customer service.

But it was a number for check verification,so i hung up the phone and went to a check cashing place to cash the check.

The people at the check cashing place said they could not cash the check because SBBT said that there was verification code issued for the check already.

But they were told by SBBT that if i got a verification code number when i had called earlier,they could go head and cash the check. Well i never did get a code number when i called, and i called SBBT back and told the rep there this, and they told me at that time that either i send the check back or have the code no.

So i went back home got online went to SBBT's web site,put the info in from the check and got the verification code number.

So i went back to the check cashing place to try and cash my check again,and the people at SBBT tell the people at the check cashing place that my check is void,i can not cash it,and to send the check back to SBBT so they can reissue me another check,which will take another two weeks before i get it.

I don't think that i was treated fairly in this matter considering the fact that they got there fees right off the top,and i was told that the only way i could get my check sooner then two weeks,was that i would have to pay for over night delivery to send my check there SBBT),and do the same for them to send it back.

I feel that there was something more that could have been done on SBBT's part to keep me from having to wait another two weeks, but they chose not too.

Hi, Tiffany.

I have used TaxEngine.com for my taxes the past two years, and have gotten my Refund Loan from SBBT both times without any trouble. I can understand how frustrating it would be to have to wait so long for your refund! Since you took your check to a check-cashing place, I am assuming that you don't have a bank account. My suggestion might be to go to a credit union and open a savings account (at my CU you can open one with just $5 to start) and that way you can get your new check direct deposited; that's how I did mine, and I got my refund in 2 business days with no hassles. It's a LOT easier that way and shouldn't cost you any extra fees.
